Number Theory

It's a pretty entertaining video that touches on the Millennium problems.

This one was pretty interesting too:

Around 1:24 "Time ticking differently on different planets" that's a bad way to phrase it...

I saw these a long time ago but figured I would post them since I am a huge chess guy I have to 'rep my "sport." :P

Actually a very interesting video!

What would be really cool would be if they could take the Jenga pieces and make them translucent with a bunch of LEDs inside that would show the internal momentum or energy distribution through out the system as it wobbles!

I love the chemistry professor, his tie!!! :D
I downloaded this game on my phone just to play while on the toilet or something :P

Pretty cool! Anything with "law" in it is going to be an interesting concept.

Brady is a really cool guy!

I had no idea you were a Chess Fanatic. When I was younger I had entered a Youth Chess Championship and had won my regional and qualified for the State Tournaments. At the time I was 17 and it was only for under 18 and younger, but the day I had to attend my power went out briefly and reset my alarm clock. I had woken up to only find out I had way past overslept and missed my own tournament. I was devastated because although I could qualify the following year I would then be 18 and have to play against the much older Grandmasters with some crazy ratings. Never competed again. lol
Although I’m much older now and with a family I still enjoy playing and if I ever go into the city I love to play the street players.

I used to study all types of openings but the most interesting one was some type of Sicilian variation that Bobby Fischer I believe worked on to develop the Najdorf Poison Pawn Opening. Although somewhat complex he always managed to gracefully execute it for the advantage over the board once he sacrificed.
What is your favorite opening?

Damn that's a bummer! I started playing chess about 8-9 years ago as an attempt to keep myself from gaming. Figured chess was a better use of my time. What rating did you have? I would assume maybe 1800-2000?

When I first started I chose to play the Queen's Gambit and the Sicilian as black.
I played the Queen's Gambit for the first 5 or 6 years, I got a cool chess coach that showed me the London System and since a couple years I have been playing that. Actually this past year I have been killing it with a "Jobava London" system, no c3 and instead Nc3.

Here is my last week's game, I was white. He did his little fianchetto early so he gave me the center and honestly I don't feel like he was able to coordinate his pieces the whole game.
I included a computer analysis so you can see all my mistakes. Honestly, I can't be on Meso this much because it is effecting my chess. I have tons of material to study still and I haven't been analyzing my games nor playing with the quality I want. Couldn't upload the game but here is the PGN >.>
Code:
1. d4 g6 2. e4 Bg7 3. Nc3 d6 4. f4 Nc6 5. Be3 e5?! 6. d5 Nce7 7. fxe5 Bxe5 8. Bd4 Bg4 9. Qxg4 Bxd4 10. Nge2 Be3 11. Qf3 Bh6 12. h4 Nc8 13. g4 g5 14. h5 Bg7 15. O-O-O Nh6 16. Nd4 O-0 17. Nf5 Nxf5 18. gxf5 h6 19. Bc4?! Qf6 20. Rhf1 a6 21. Rde1 b5 22. Bb3 Nb6 23. e5 dxe5 24. Ne4 Qd8 25. f6 Bh8 26. Rg1 Nxd5 27. Nxg5 Bxf6 28. Ne6+ Bg5+ 29. Nxg5 hxg5 30. Bxd5 Rb8 31. Rxe5

Bobby Fischer was a legend for sure! I just bought a friend of mine the 1972 Fischer Spassky pieces with a really nice board too.

I think chess is a great game to play, there are many things you can use from chess in real life. Especially playing classical time controls!

Yea my rating officially back then was in the 1900, I couldn’t break the 2000 mark at the time and seeing people around the 2500 mark as a GM was just crazy to imagine at that age. Of course on some of my online accounts I rate around 2400 but sometimes those ratings don’t even count especially with the levels of players that sometimes you run into online.
I honestly still love using the Queens Gambit, it always gave me center control if done correctly but I never did any variations with it or as black.

Read your PGN and I honestly hate blacks opening, I always thought opening with the bishop that way always weakens one side of the board and you can easily slip and lose control hence you taking over the center easily after. Usually ends in some type of Bishop sacrifice on their end, I think it’s a waste.

Bobby Fischer was just amazing, he just went bat shit crazy at the end, with the whole Russian Conspiracies and everything else.
I think there was a tournament he refused to go to because he stated the time of the game was much to early in the game and unless they changed it later he would just forfeit and not give a shit. Boss Status. lol
I used to be so much more into chess than I wish I could dedicate time to it now. I remember going over the Deep Blue v. Kasparov games in full depth and his devastating loss. lol
