Old Airdyne bikes vs newer Rouge Assault bikes?

My gym has a Rouge Assault bike which I love for efficient cardio. I'd like to have one at home in order to seperate cardio and my weigh workouts so I don't have to ride the bike before or after weights but I'm cheap and don't want to spend the $$ on one if it's not necessary.

I see a lot of the older Shwinn Airdyne bikes used on FB marketplace dirt cheap. I'm wondering if they give a comparable workout? Idc about the electronics and any bells and whistles just want to get an efficient cardio workout in at home. Are these old school Airdyne bikes any good? Do they have a similar feel mechanically to Rouge Assault type bike? All comments welcome.

I picked up a Aerodyne for $70. Can’t beat it.

I’ve never tried an assault bike but I can’t believe it’s all that much better than oldschool Aerodyne. They pedal and move smooth. It’s not clunky at all. I do HITT training on it and I’m 275 lbs.

It comes with a fat ass granny seat though but you can go to a local bike shop and swap it out for a better seat. It’s just one nut and bolt.

Oh btw, the resistance fan on both the aero and the rogue blows right on you which is good in hot summer but it’s cold as fuck in a garage gym in winter. You need a heated space.

Pretty much all I needed to hear! I just wanted to know if they were smooth and provided good resistance. They look to be built like a tank and with so many of the old bastards still around in good shape I figured they must be built pretty stout.

I don't need a timer, tachometer or a gauge to tell me how many calories I've burnt. It'll be parked in front of a tv in my bedroom so the fan blowing on me will be welcomed.

I'm finding them for $50-$75 all day long used on Facebook marketplace. Gonna pick one up this week. Pretty excited actually for as much as I hate life when I'm riding them.

I've used both and the only difference I could tell was the monitor... I really don't know my way around them anyways so the difference was basically zero to me. Those things are a fucking killer... Easier than a rower but not by much.

I'm no pro on them either so if they both have the same basic feel or close enough that's more than good enough for me.

I actually considered a rower also but these old Airdyne bikes are just so cheap it's looking like a no brainer to me now.

I thought about getting a rower or air bike too but they were not cheap at all from what I saw in my area.

I also came to the realization I probably wouldn't use it very much... I have a shitty spin bike that I use when I'm cutting but I always want to give HIIT a better try. The air bike for tempos is a great workout, I REALLY struggle with rowing because I can't seem to find a pace that's less than 100% so I'm just dead after 5 minutes going at my max.

I just look at the RPM and stay above a certain number on the slower interval and then stay above a certain number on the sprint interval. There are interval training apps that you can get for free to time each interval so there’s no need for a crazy monitor anyway.

Can’t beat $50-75

Picked up a used Shwinn Airdyne bike yesterday for $70. Downloaded an interval app and knocked out a killer hiit session last night in the comfort of my own home hours separated from my gym session and couldn't be happier with the purchase. Mechanically the bike is every bit as good as the Rouge Assault bike I used at my gym.

Thanks for the input @BigBaldBeardGuy and @Eman

Looking at the rogue echo or scheinn airdyne myself. These are nice.
The resistance only correlated ewith your intensity right?

There is no resistance knob?
