PRIMO CYCLE LOG!

View attachment 70274 My wife bought one of these Ashley Black Fascia Blaster and I will admit that I told her that it was a silly purchase because it would never work and it was too expensive. Well...I have since eaten my words. She uses it religiously. She even lays it against the sofa cushion and positions it so that it is hitting the right spot. Her pain problems are muscle tissue related and not in the joints. It did take a while but it has made a tremendous difference in her shoulder and back pain. I'm not sure if it would help in your case but it worked for her.

There are quite a few knock offs that are cheaper and I saw one that a friend of hers bought. She should have paid more and bought the Ashley Black. There is no comparison in the way it is constructed as well as not being able to dig into the muscle nearly as good.

Damn. Saw the knock offs but yea they didn't look nearly as good. I'll have to look around a little.

Sitting with a heating pad at the moment. Don't have time for this shit.. ugh!

Yea a hundred bucks really isn't much. I was really trying to tell her was "that piece of plastic shit ain't worth a hundred" but it came out a little different from that. More like, "baby, do you really think it's worth that much?";)

I'd listen to your husband and take a couple days off from lifting. I know you're on cycle but you don't want to make it worse. Hang in there!

Ha, very smooth [emoji41] Smart man [emoji23]

But but but... you're right [emoji24] Debating on what to do today. I'll get some good cardio in on the stepmill at the very least. Going to make a Dr appt tomorrow morning. They'll probably just give me a steroid shot.

Went to the Dr. this morning. He agreed- thinks it's a pinched nerve. He said I'm probably overdoing it with the weight and should take it easy for now.. but lighter weight and higher reps, if I've gotta.. Ugh! I got a shot of prednisone in the butt to help with inflammation. I forgot to take my bandaid off from last nights injection, and didn't remember till I pulled my pants down.. oops [emoji15] At least the nurse didn't say anything, ha! He was going to write me a script for a muscle relaxer to use before bed, but I told him I've already got some at home.. Just hate using bc it knocks me out & I normally still feel it the next day. Think I'll skip that and stick with the heating pad & massages for now. I mentioned anti-inflammatories effecting protein synthesis & he grinned.. said it won't hurt my gains. Anyway, pretty bummed out. So much for finally getting 100 on bench.. had that goal set for next Monday. Bright side- at least I can still make booty gains [emoji527][emoji1305]

Another thing- aunt dot came back today.. 25 days since she last showed up. I've noticed she's been coming a little earlier every month since I've been on cycle, and sticking around longer. It's been on the lighter side, so that's a plus. Still, seems like she just left! "Not you again!" [emoji1315] Me this morning [emoji12]

Yesterday was supposed to be power upper & I was planning to at least get some cardio in, but didn't go to the gym AT ALL. I did however spend lots of time outside picking these

Maybe that counts for something? [emoji39] Far outweighs those brownies in more than one way! Besides, my kids didn't need any help with bouncing off the walls [emoji28]

Thats one thing i miss about living up North.
Fresh blueberries. They are so so so soooo much better than store bought and the crap that passes for berries down here

Me too, but probably need to give some away.. Even my big ole family won't be able to polish these off in time!

I'm waaaay down south & look how nice! And yea, store bought doesn't compare. Plus, this many would break the bank if I had to pay.. waaaay overpriced.

I lived in northern coastal Mass as a kid. We could just go out in the woods and pick wild blueberries. Across the road from my house there was an ice cold spring coming up through the granite that you could drink from. You'll get the 100lb bench in no time! A week or 2 lifting light is just a deload. I bet you come back stronger.

Bummer you have a pinched nerve but glad to hear it isn't anything too serious. Hopefully it won't be bothersome in the next week.

Now THAT sounds nice. The good old days..
Funny, my husband just said the same thing about using this time to deload. He's been telling me I can probably get more on my bench, but not having a spot on heavy days makes it hard. Can't wait for that number to go up! So thank you, hope you're right.

Thanks girl. You're right, it could definitely be worse. Hoping a deload will work to my advantage in the end [emoji1320]

Do what you gotta do. Better to take it easy on upper body and let it heal instead of making it worse later. Like you said, at least you can still work on lower body.[emoji106] I had a knee injury a couple years ago and couldn't do legs/glutes for at least 6 weeks. You can imagine how miserable that was![emoji22]

Oh man, 6 wks [emoji27] Does it still bother you? I had an X-ray on mine about a year ago & was told it's arthritis [emoji57] I take glucosamine/chondroitin and that helps the discomfort. Another thing my dr said today.. the heavy weights may have their benefits now, but that we're all going to wind up with more arthritis in the future. Then he preached a little more about lighter weight and higher reps for the "toned" look... [emoji849][emoji849][emoji849] I vomited lol

I tore my MCL and it healed up really well but it does get stiff and achy from time to time. I've heard the same about the arthritis thing too for us lifters.[emoji20]

Toned.[emoji848] Please pass the bucket, lol.

He's not entirely wrong about the heavy weights and future issues. At 42 I have to pick my spots now when I go heavy as pretty much every joint in my body is jacked up from years of heavy lifting. Especially on gear, you can make good gains by using lower weight but incorporating different types intensity e.g. drop sets, negatives, giant sets etc. Of course if you are just training for strength this won't be optimal but for muscle gains this can be a good change from a standard "heavy lifting" program.

I'm surprised he didn't suggest 'Hip hop abs" instead of heavy weights to cut down on arthritis. Toned? Geesh....

The biggest change in getting older is not that you can't all of a sudden not lift heavy weight, it's that it takes longer to recover, longer to heal, and more easy to injure and re-injure.

BlueDress (who is almost 57!) and I both still train heavy for the most part like we did ten years ago, but we throttle way back when we get hurt. You have to or you will be taken out even longer.

Like @Professor Karman said, you can do different things to still achieve intensity and back off weight temporarily while you heal. Even when you're ininjured, some deliberate "deloads" are such helpful breaks for joints and ligament tissues to repair and catch up a little.

And now at our age - the gear gives you exceptional power but on the same old joints and connective tissues. You've got to preserve yourself for the long haul. For us, pushing ourselves regularly beyond our limits all our lives, it's much harder to back off. It's even worse when you're charged up like you are now.

Anyways, sorry about the bad news... but I'd refrain from taking a ton of painkillers/nsaids and simply trying to push through. Take care of yourself!
