Primo Cycle

View attachment 44836 Since I've been so tired this week I took yesterday off. It was chest hypertrophy day which I'll just skip this week so I can stay on schedule. I like to do most of my heavy lifting over the weekend when I'm more rested. My husband, the bastard, is having a hard time keeping weight on and during intermission of the movie we watched last night (10 cloverfield lane....weird...ehhh) came back to bed with 2 men, Ben & Jerry. We had a 4-some. Lol. Still woke up this morning feeling ok. I'll chalk it up somewhere in between flexible dieting and a cheat meal. Could still see my v-line this morning so I'm not beating myself up too badly. Still ready for more progress.
Looking lean, Wendy! I love Ben & Jerry's. Your foursome sounds like it was very enjoyable.;):p

Thanks @Eman and @Crystal234 still ready for this hips to go. Ugh. :) slowly slowly. It did feel good to eat though. I played that game where I ate a 1/4 of the bowl, then picked at the crunchy bits in the ice cream and then said fuck it and ate it all. lol.
It's funny how you want your hips gone but I want mine to grow just a tad, haha.

What flavor B&J's?

Whenever I talk about B&J I feel like it's foodporn because...hmmmm...maybe I've never thought this through before. Why do I equate ice cream with porn. I need therapy. It was coffee toffee. I'd never had it before. Salted caramel core is my go to but there's nothing I don't love....unless it's chunky monkey. I hate bananas. (Re: therapy above). ;)

4-some huh? Lol. Yeah I watched that Cloverfield movie the other night and it was very weird. It's good to get a little dirty ( talking about the food ;) ). I always feel stronger the day after cheating a little. The down side is it usually makes me sweat more.

Haha. I can see ice cream and porn going together quite well, lol.

Ooh, I've always wondered how the salted caramel core was. I love their peanut butter core. So good! Coffee toffee sounds amazing right now.

When I got my tonsils out a while back I think I tried every flavor there was lol... Cherry Garcia for life!!

I converted over to Hagen Daaz though... dulche de leche and coffee were my favorites. Drop what you're doing right now and go pick these up! :)
I remember you posting ice cream back then, ha. I need to try the Cherry Garcia. I used to be all about Thrifty's black cherry ice cream when I was in middle school.

I love Hagen Daaz also. Their coffee is amazing but haven't tried the dulce de leche. Must make a little stop to the store after the gym. *innocent smile*

Dulche le leche was what I lived on for like two weeks lol... probably my favorite ice cream now except I'm still kind of sick of the thought of ice cream!

Maybe it's not as good without percocet though... :(

image.png 2nd pin of week six. Tired again today. Been a week of blah pretty much. Waking up to headaches. I'll see if I feel better over the weekend.

So I kind of got excited about a dup program today and I found a spreadsheet with a layne Norton routine. So I did that. I'm a little tentative about it because it's so much less volume daily than I was doing but I think I'm going to do it. I started today and did the 3 big lifts and added hip thrusts 195x10 4x and glute ham raise 3x10. The spreadsheet is large so I just screenshotted the first week below. I'm so curious what strength I'll get and how I'll change my body. Katieanne Rutherford was the inspiration for the change. So so quad envy her.

I strongly considered running that program. I really like the conjugate method though... my all time go to I think. But I'm kind of just fucking around right now lol... I'm hitting PRs and following prilepin's chart.

You can get it on bodybuilding.com with all your numbers filled in for you I think.

Ooooooo. Now I'll have to do that!

Haha go for it. It definitely seemed convenient.

I remember thinking, damn they are good with keeping people coming back everyday to their site. Seemed like a cool idea to just leave the page up on my phone everyday and click to the next page of the program when I'd go to gym and do whatever it said.

Couldn't commit though... story of my life. ;)

Wendy, looking great!! really shaping that midsection. The lower volume program you outline might be a good balance of listening to your body and not slowing progress. Just make sure you make each of those set work and the volume will be fine

DUP is actually my preferred method of periodization for bodybuilding oriented lifters in the intermediate and advanced stage. For bb'ing I actually even prefer DUP over a linear approach to periodization despite the fact that linear periodization will work just fine for many lifters because we don't have to go through periods of weeks where weekly volume gets dropped so intensity can go up - with DUP weekly volume can remain high throughout the week which is advantageous for bodybuilding purposes. I also like that each intensity gets trained concurrently within the same week rather than going untrained for periods of time.

Once you have a good understanding of DUP and how to apply it you can make very interesting and extremely effective routines - and they can look completely different depending on what the goal is.

I didn't look at your total volume but I'm going to take a guess and say the new programming probably has you doing more work - calculate weekly volume for each lift relative to intensity and see how it compares to your previous programming. Workload is probably even higher. I didn't look at your other stuff so I don't know, but I'll bet you weekly volume for your main lifts is way higher - you're doing more work sets at intensities 70%+, yeah you might not be doing as much warm-up sets or other stuff but that stuff is a cake walk anyway.

This is what my implementation of DUP looked like if you are curious:

Dual-factor Bodybuilding routine for Intermediate and Advanced lifters

Just to demonstrate how different an implementation of this technique can look like depending on goals. I'd also like to experiment with flexible non-linear periodization at some point - I think it would work great too depending on how honest an athlete is with what they're capable of on any given day.

image.jpeg Today was the first day in a week I haven't woken up with a headache. I got one later on but it's gone now. I think I'm just getting acclimated to the heat. Not fatigued at all today like I was last week. One day 3 of the new program above and feel pretty good. I made me sets and for hypertrophy did lunges, extension, hip thrust (pr @ 205. My husband calls them super-kegels). Reverse hyper and glute ham raise. I supersetted most of these.

Home resting now and trying my hand at homemade quest bars.....we'll see.

I did notice some ab changes or the light was just right. Whatever. Here's a pic of them. I know my counters are messy. It's Sunday.
