A recent study investigated the effects of reta on obesity and cancer outcomes in mouse models. The research demonstrated that RETA induced substantial weight loss, improved metabolic parameters, and notably reduced tumor onset and progression in both obesity-associated pancreatic cancer (PDAC) and non-obesity-associated lung cancer (LUAD) models. This effects lasted beyond when they stopped Reta.

It was only recently I found out obesity was the #2 cause of cancer after smoking. I had no idea. I don't think most people realize this.
 
I'm curious what mechanism there would be for reducing the non-obesity-associated lung cancer.

These are already an amazing win for public health. If we find out these also help prevent/slow cancer, even more amazing.

Probobly the systemic inflammation reduction. Although I've also seen in vitro studies on nerve cells that demonstrate when their GLP receptors are agonized trigger anti-oxidative protection mechanisms.

Here's another retrospective study showing a significant reduction in blood cancer risk among diabetic GLP users. An over 50% percent reduction.

I suspect it may be relevant to a much wider group than diabetics, but they're working with the only large bodies of data available so far.


My opinion has increasingly become that nearly every adult would benefit from a GLP, regardless of weight, because there's simply no evidence of any downsides, and a lot of potential upside against slow moving diseases associated with aging indicated, even though it'll take decades to firmly establish them all.

I have to agree with you, I believe almost every person could benefit from a GLP which in a weird way concerns me too. Of course I think there has to be some negative, just mountains of data with previous medications. On top of that, extending the healthy living of the entire world’s population could be the downfall in itself.

Yea I suspect "more than your fair share of life" might become a thing in the future.

You might look up some of the studies on the effects of glucagon on cancer, that might give some hints as glucagon by itself doesn’t have the weight loss effects that reta does. Glucagon does have effects on important mechanisms that fuel cancer growth.


With colorectal cancer, glucagon appeared to inhibit angiogenesis and vascular mimicry in the tumor environment.

As a supraphysiological glucagon agonist, reta may have some interesting effects somewhere in this direction.
