So i just read in china when they reopened gyms they did this

I like the lawsuit idea. A class action suit from closed businesses against their state's governor might work. The lock down here in VA definitely violates the state constitution.

Sorry for the formatting. Twitter and FB links get displayed automatically and slow down the forum, so I had to wrap them..

Do you even know how long lawsuits take in courts?
Constant appeals can delay any lawsuit by 5 years or more.

China is in quarantine for 6 more months
The CDC director said:

"This virus is going to be with us"
I don't think anybody would disagree that for decades, collectively, our nation's underinvested in public health. Now, I think people understand that that can really have significant consequences, and now is the time for us to overinvest overprepare in public health.

This virus is going to be with us. I'm hopeful that we'll get through this first wave and, and have some time to prepare for the second wave. I'm hopeful that the private sector in its ingenuity and working with the government, NIH, will develop a vaccine that ultimately will change the impact of this virus.

But for the next 24 months, you know, we're all in this together, and the most important thing that we can do is twofold: the American public fully embracing the social distancing that we requested to protect the vulnerable; and secondly, to operationalize the bread and butter of public health

So don't you worry about getting infected in the gym.
They won't open for a couple years.

Sure you can look at the number of deaths caused by other things.

About 650,000 die every year from heart disease which is mostly due to the standard american diet. No one is gonna stop selling shit fast food.

400,000 die from tobacco use, never a word about stopping it.

100,000 die from alcohol related.

Most of these are choice related, you made the bad choice and now you pay the price.

A virus like this isn't a choice. When you see someone working a shit job for $12/hr being exposed to a virus and they die suffocating on mucous. It's not worth it. Most of the jobs in America are shit jobs that no one needs to do. Lets be honest.

Humans need clean drinking water, food, shelter, sanitation, utilities, basic healthcare, tools, some form of mass transit to shuttle goods around(trains and trucks), basic education.

So how many people are involved in these types of jobs. How much of the economy is focused on essentials? Many people work jobs that if they didn't exist would hardly be noticed by anyone with real concerns.
Nobody gives a shit about the new Iphone model or what celebrities are doing anymore.

Coronavirus fallout: One-third of Americans missed rent payments in April
This a totally resettling event.
Back to basics, I guess.
... for some that means sucking dick to bring food to the table.

I'm not so sure Americans will go back to the basics.

We have a society/culture that is completely inundated with advertising.

You're always just one purchase away from bliss in the United States.

Most people could retire in this country by the age of 55 if we took a drastic drop in consumption.

The problem is all it takes is one carrier to infect a large group of people. We've seen 15 family members get together and 5 of them die from this virus.

So if you were in charge and tasked with the responsibility to keep your citizens out of harms way. Would you say get back to work and roll the dice, if you die you die?

History doesn't look kindly on presidents or politicians that have poor judgement. If you let a fire spread through the United States and say half a million people die, your head is gonna be on a platter.
Firstly, I don't enjoy seeing people die. I live in a " hot spot state", and yet I still don't know anyone personally that has been infected. I do feel strongly that the economy needs to be opened in some capacity. In places that are still seeing high infection rates this probably wouldn't be possible. The answer, I believe is in mass testing. The people that are asymptomatic and people that are healthy should be able to return to work. People that are at higher risk for problems should shelter. I am not saying to just reopen everything back to normal and let people die. Our economy has to be opened at some point

Curious what anyone thinks about the food shortages. Pork is going to be scarce. Eggs are in low supply, as is milk.

if we let all the churchie people and conspiracy theorists do as they want, we’d be in a much worse hole than we’re in now.

and that smells like a worse long term economic issue to me

where do you get your information from? lol
there’s an over supply of eggs and milk.

The idea is to hold governors accountable for their unconstitutional acts. There's nothing short of violence that can stop the current BS - which would backfire spectacularly.

A lawsuit that takes five years to resolve keeps the unconstitutional acts in the news, so people can reflect on just what was done to them through disinformation, fear mongering and tyranny.

Most Americans are fat fucks, they have at least 50 pounds of blubber on their bodies. That's 3500 calories x 50, considering 1800 calories/day they'll last about 100 days fasting.

The economy isn't as important as people think. There's a shit ton of people that are loving not having to go to work. Pew research which tends to be right on the money has 70% of workers hating their jobs. There's a reason suicide rates sharply drop when people become eligible for entitlements, most jobs are an exercise in humiliation, a demoralizing test of mind numbing torture.

Many people accomplish jack shit at their jobs, it's just a place where they go to piss away the hours of their life to get a paycheck. It's also a means of control, it's how our government enslaves us, track us, how they set up drug testing for pre-employment, it's a system to rob you.

We need to develop a more efficient work force that works less hours, we could get rid of at least 60% of these jobs and not even notice the impact. This could be accomplished through engineering, thinking outside the box, completely revamping how we do things.

I'd start by firing most of the government, the first on the chopping block would be the DEA, FDA, Judges, and Prosecutors, next would be 90% of cops and all jail and prison employees.

Nothing worse than people who hold to the constitution. Man that document is dead, it means absolutely nothing. The government didn't hold up their end of the bargain, so the contract is null and void.

The only thing that matters to the government is what is written down as law, that will be followed, when they say jump, you say how high. They can add more and more laws to box you in. You are offered the allusion of freedom with a flowery old text, but reality sets in when you're brought in front of a judge and sentenced to ten years in prison for an act the state deems unacceptable(immoral) that has harmed no person or property, should tell you that you are living in a police state.

Well, I must be a weirdo. I like working and don't hate my job. I am self employed, so sitting at home does absolutely nothing for me. I don't work, I don't make money. I like making money; it makes my life easier. The last thing I want is hand out from the government or anyone else for that matter. Not really sure what direction you are going in when you say the economy isn't that important. If it completely collapses because of this virus, you'll be looking at another great depression. I do like your thoughts about firing government employees.

Firing of government employees is about the only thing he's said that I agree with

The Constitution hasn't mattered since 1788, one year after it was written down and that's being generous. I was gonna say as soon as the ink dried it didn't matter.

It is a pompous ass document written by people that went out into their fields and whipped their slaves asses raw. It's means nothing to no one.

That's why the supreme court needs to be done away with, these old crusty fucks informing me what my freedoms are by using their magical powers of interpretation for a bunch of fucks that lived 200+ years ago. As if these people levitated when they walked.

What's not to agree with. I've looked around. Made some observations and it's painfully obvious people really do hate their jobs. Now I've met plenty of people that are completely bereft of imagination that love to sit around banging away at their boring job, but I've met many many more that have a huge smiles on their face when they no longer have to subject themselves to this torture.

Pretty much everything you've said. I enjoy my work, if I didn't I'd find something else to do that I did enjoy.

Let me ask you this. If I offered you 5 million dollars in exchange for wiping out your entire work history, credentials, diplomas, certificates, references whatever it is you have. Would you take the money, or would you continue doing your job.

If so I gotta assume your job isn't high stress, where you spend all night tossing and turning with a monkey dancing in your head.

Well call me old fashion, but when people are happy to sit around on their asses and not work, and being supported by someone other than themselves, i call that lazy and worthless. Also, let me get this right, if someone doesnt hate their job and may even be happy with a job that YOU find boring, then they are "bereft of imagination?" I believe in a limited government, but nearly everything you have said reminds me of the political activist group ANTIFA.

If you offered me 5 million, would I take it and retire? Probably so...I would probably go find something else to go work at though. I know a guy that was severely burned while doing construction work. He hit an underground gas line with a jack hammer. The only part of his body that wasn't burned was his crotch area. The blueprints for what was underground were inaccurate. He received a very large settlement as compensation. He stayed home for quite some time fishing and just living his life. He later though returned to the workforce out of complete boardum. Not everyone hates working. We are all wired differently

I agree. If I were to somehow come into 5 million dollars, I would retire from my current job(which I dont hate and gives me good living) Being raised around farms, I would probably invest my money into land and farm. It would have to be a small farm given the price of land these days. My point being, I would still be working hard and doing something that I enjoy. There would be times when I complain, because it IS hard, but it wouldnt mean that I hate it. Still making money to provide for myself and loved ones.

I would take the money, and get a different job. I wouldn't be content sitting on my ass at home. I'm heading back to work Monday and couldn't be happier
