This is why TRT kicks ass for old guys like me

Recovering from injuries. I fd my back up 2 weeks ago tomorrow deadlifting a bit too much weight for reps. I feel up to pushing some plates around tomorrow. This, for me, is huge as it would have taken me about a month to get back in the gym from prior to TRT (doctor prescribed 280 mg a week, so not really TRT IMO). I think discussing Dorian today provided a little extra motivation as well....we need another DY!

Just thought I'd share one of the undeniable benefits of AAS.

I can only do so much. I have to pick squats or Deadlift and I can only do them every other week.
If I do it too consistently my back and hip pain immobilize me for about a week.

I remember not even that long ago I could hit 2 squat sessions a week and work legs 3 times in a week :(

Glad to hear you're feeling great and your recovery time has improved! Don't push too hard just yet.

280 is a cycle. Your bloods will be 1300-1400.

Getting old sucks. My squat weights has gone WAY down. Not because I can't move it, my knees get screwed. Anything legs and as heavy as I used to go, kills my knees. Dead lifts kinda.

Glad you've got it. I don't think it's the test that's healed you though.

How did you get your doc to prescribe you 280mg/week?

My doc is LIBERAL as hell. I believe he will go up to 300 mg/wk. I was actually a little bit shocked when he said 140 2x a week...i thought, WTF?

When I get my levels up, I will ask to go down to 200 or less (pretty sure 280+ a week for the rest of my life is not a great idea).

Getting old does suck. I think that is why I get so pissed at people, literally, half my age who post crap about "considering my first cycle" or those who go on AAS @ 21 ....They have no clue what happens when you get into your 40s.

I'm with you. My knees are so bad I have a hard time looking at the squat rack (catching for 15 years and squating heavy until failure for years = recipe to be f'd up when you get older). I need to train smarter, but I freaking love being strong...shame

Well, I had a go at it & the body told me to stop....I'll take a month break and hit it hard after a little vacation...getting old blows sack!

If you didn't catch Dorian on the Joe Rogan show, the segments are worth a quick watch. His take on why he was doing what he was doing is very interesting.
Yes, saw that one. I also saw where he said he no longer weight trains anynore because of past injuries. I think his approach was highly effective but for myself I need to find a middle ground when stuff starts aching. The one all out max effort set doesn't always work well with my joints. I have to add intensity in other ways now besides failure

Indeed, one of the best podcasts I've listened to....I like the new Dorian & his ability to evolve and overcome. Btw, Rogan is absolutely fantastic in general (I commute to work, so I listen to a show on.my drive to and from work)

I wasn't trying to lift heavy, but the old back & knees sometimes don't like it when I lift anything.

Dorian has half of a right rotator cuff by the way...that is one reason....he still stays fit & is a cool and unconventional dude.
