I feel your pain. I got my "training wheels" lifting in a pretty hardcore gym. Now I'm at a pretty corporate place with boot camps running around doing bullshit, and everything else. It's not on the Planet Fitness level of stupid, but it ain't great either.
People stare at me all the time. One of the trainers told me I'm so strong it's scary. I told him he needs to get out of this gym and find out what strong is because I'm really pretty weak. Guys in a real gym like my old spot would say I'm respectable, but definitely not strong.
There's a couple younger guys in there who look pretty good, but I just keep my headphones in, head down, and do my thing. When I was on the var a few months ago, I was wearing a long sleeve shirt in the middle of the summer because people were looking at me like I was A-Rod coming out of Biogenesis when I would get a var pump going.
