How many sets are typical for each muscle group?I train one body part once a week, so for example I will train arms every Monday, the key points for me are intensity and recovery. Typically it will look like this, Monday arms, Tuesday shoulders and traps, Wednesday abs, lower back and calf's, Thursday hamstrings and quads, Friday back, Saturday chest, Sunday rest day. When trying to gain size recovery becomes soo important, no use heading to the gym when you not fully recovered from the last time you trained that muscle group.
Bass is one of my heroes. Him and Zane.Clarence Bass (Ripped) said he only hits a group every 8 or 9 days. ~Ogh
I have been using ur method of one muscle group a week for years now. Even though some "doctors" on this board claim that that is an "inferior" way to train and they tell people on this board to do a full body workout 3 times a week with only 3 sets per muscle group haha the results speak for them selves. And u cant argue with results. But I guess thats why they are doctors and not body builders! Lol.
Thanks again for sharing ur experience.
Welcome man. You really look good. At first I thought that was Bill Pearl.
It really depends on my energy level for that day, usually it between 10-15 sets for the smaller muscle groups and 15-20 for the larger. How many sets are typical for each muscle group?

I by far an instinctual trainer. I just posted that yesterday on Brutus'/johnnyballs workout thread. Must listen to the mind/body.It really depends on my energy level for that day, usually it between 10-15 sets for the smaller muscle groups and 15-20 for the larger.
There will be days however when I come in and say im training biceps and preacher curls are first on the list, if im getting a particular good feeling from the preacher then I might sticky with it and do as many sets as I deem fit until my biceps are done then move onto triceps.
I always go in with a plan but there will be days when instinct takes over and my body will tell me what it needs.
Yes we all have the best personal trainer available, its your own body.I by far an instinctual trainer. I just posted that yesterday on Brutus'/johnnyballs workout thread. Must listen to the mind/body.
Nope, the body couldn't take it.nobody has balls to the wall workouts 100% of the time.
Lmao I used to love that cartoon, Oh Magoo you've done it again.Nope, the body couldn't take it.
I've been training hard since I was about 12 and now 47. There's days I am zen in the gym, others....Mr. Magoo trying to find his way out of a phone booth. But, that's life.
Its been a while since I posted so I thought I would keep this up dated I hope you guys don't mind.
Since my last comp ive been in hospital having a hernia opp no big deal and all went well although I couldn't wait to get out, bloody morphine based drugs are never enough when your 5'6 and weigh 240lb, give me a sleeping pill and let the body do its thing every day of the week.
Plus I got a male nurse, just my luck no hot babes in stay up stockings with silicon tits.
Any way it got me to thinking about this life style and would I recommend it to kids.
My wife and I don't have children because it just didn't happen for us but it reminded me of a story that I heard a long time ago and I would like to share it with you. It goes as follows.
There was this bodybuilder walking along the beach and this young boy walked up to him and said, I want to be like you.
The bodybuilder grabbed his hand and walked with the boy out into the surf about waist height, then he grab him buy the hair and held him under the water until the boy stop kicking, finally he let him up and the boy took a large breath of air, spewed out all that salt water and ran crying away.
When I first heard this story im doing what your doing right now, I was pissed off, wanted to have apiece of this fuckwit for doing such a horrible thing to a insistent young child, but I got to read on and then there was this.
He said to that young boy when you want to be like me as much as you wanted that next breath then come and see me, but not before because this lifestyle is nothing to be praised about.
The point being and im know guru buy any means, is this sport takes a toll on you and I love it. It gives me pleasure doing what others cant and im only a amateur nothing special here but if I had children I would hate them to follow in my foot steps.
Guys reading this and especially the younger one's I wish some one had sat me down and had this conversation.
Think carefully about what you do today because it determines tomorrow.
Again thank you for letting me have a voice hear and I hope to contribute many more stories without the Bullshit in the future.
