I would only know how it is going from bulkier to leaner since I have a sluggish metabolism and the propensity to want to eat, so I can not make the comparison. But I do know that the grass is always greener

You tell me which is easier? Do you like having to do hours of cardio and denying yourself the pleasure of eating fatty, sugary foods so you don't start to look sloppy. Oh waaa poor me, I have to shovel in pizzas, burgers, donuts Ben and Jerry, whole milk, etc just to put on size. My life is soooo difficult! Fuck you! I'm gonna have one more cup of black coffee and go run 4 miles so I can try to get my body fat down to around 10%

Also, if losing fat was so fucking easy then I don't understand why 80% of the united states is over weight. That's the whole difference between a weight lifter and a body builder....rant over

Bulking doesnt mean piling mounds of bullshit in to your mouth, cutting doesnt mean bland foods or endless cardio.

That's true, I just got back in the gym after a 6 month hiatus and I'm trying to put on size and strength on a budget... Lot's of white rice and chicken breast, ground beef, potatoes, etc. But if I slack on the cardio I do start to look sloppy. I just got all worked up because if I'm not hyper vigilant about what I eat I get fat

Everyone is different as we all know. I'm my case, I have what I call an "efficient" metabolism. I'm 5'10 225 at about (10% rn 5 weeks out from a comp) and I can bulk on about 3,500 calories easily. With 3,500 calories on my last bulk (which I did without AAS) I gained about 1 pound a week. Everyone is different but for those who can get fat, it's easier to get big and cut down in my opinion. Trying to stay lean while growing at an optimal rate is not easy to say the least.

Diet down to comp body lvls and see how much muscle is really there. I think we all deceive ourselves with a bulk and what actual muscle gains that consisted of. Not pump, not water. Actual Fibrous muscle tissue. Its a ridiculously slow process unless your blessed with abnormal genes. And the vast majority do not have them. Thats what makes averages. Kevin Levrone comes to mind immediately.
Oh I'm sure a lot of the gain is fat. But with chemicals I can try to be losing weight and put on muscle. I haven't done a real bulk since the first time I ran a test only cycle, tons of fat that cycle. So since it's always been cutting or some variation of recomp etc. Rest of my cycles I lost fat or else tried to gain as little as possible in prep for a powerlifting competition. Thing is nowadays if I ate according to my appetite I would gain weight like crazy, just always have to limit myself. Right now I'm only on TRT and I consume under 100g a carbs 5 out of 7 days a week, and I'm still not even close to the leaness I want. I've had lousy results compared to my more drastic cuts that allow me to really force weight loss, but trying not to get insane with it.

Hahaha, my so called bulks these days are now pretty much like cutting but I'm not starving as much. Still pretty much have to be "cutting" or I just get fat.
