What R U Eating ? ~OGH wants to know.....

Truethfully, there isn't really any taste to either. I was more interested in which type of fat they contain as they're different. I melt 1tbsp of coconut oil before mixing it with my shakes.

Now that I think of it, the olive oil has a slight oily texture in the smoothie and the coconut didn't.

Coconut oil is also AWESOME for sexy time in the bedroom ;)

Well, you are talking about only 1 tablespoon...but here are some nutrition geek facts...

More than 90 percent of the fat in coconut oil is saturated fat (SFA). Saturated fats have a bad reputation because they can raise your 'bad' cholesterol (LDL). The flip side of that is they also can raise your good cholesterol (HDL). The main type of saturated fat in coconut oil is lauric acid, which is one of the same fatty acids present in human breast milk. Lauric acid is known to have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that can be beneficial for your health.

About 75 percent of the fat in olive oil is monounsaturated fat (MUFA). Monounsaturated fats can help lower LDL cholesterol levels. Extra virgin olive oil is also a good source of vitamin E and polyphenolyic compounds -- antioxidants that can prevent or reduce your levels of systemic inflammation.

Just for comparison, here is the fat profile of the oils in percent PUFA, MUFA, SFA

Olive Oil: 11, 75, 14
Coconut Oil: 2, 6, 92
Avocado Oil: 13, 71, 15
Macadamia Nut Oil: 2, 82, 16

PUFA is polyunsaturated fatty acids, like the omega 3's in fish or the omega 6's in vegetable oils. You don't want to eat more than you need of O3/O6s (think fatty fish like salmon!) because they are easily oxidized. Vegetable oils started their commercial lives are wood treatment oils or for use in candles - before the light-bulb was invented. They were replaced once petroleum-based liquids became available in the early 20th century and after Edison invented the electric light. Why? Because the vegetable oils go RANCID easily so when they lost their market to the superior petroleum-based liquids, they switched to selling them as FOOD. Um. No thanks!

Last nights dinner. Planned this last Sun for my cheat meal and FBF couldnt come quick enough. Ate clean all week as usual and put myself in a junk food coma after eating cpl plates of this.
Tony roma's boneless bbq pork ribs and home made penne pasta and cheese. I used cheddar and monterey jack with a little milk.
