I have a lot of rules with dealing with pm's from newbs and it starts with sharing as much knowledge about how things work here and advising them to read before posting. Of course a lot don't but as for the other question you have Brutus, I find it downright criminal to take advantage of anyone period.

To use ones status as a vet here to take advantage of new guys who just think they are being helped is just disgusting. I would like to believe that honor and integrity aren't things of the past but I don't see a lot of people with it anymore and it is sad

As it turns out, best f'ing advice ever. As I read, and read, people who had worthwhile contributions were easy enough to spot. It's pretty clear who spends their time, energy, and knowledge to provide value to this board. The hardest part much of the time is having patience. In time, everyone's true colors will be revealed. My opinions about people who I thought were total assholes in the beginning changed 180 degrees in many cases. It's one thing just to be an asshole. But entirely another thing to be an asshole for a reason when you have the interests of the forum and everyone's safety as your motivation. You'd only know that by sitting down, stfu, and reading awhile.
So when it comes to someone reaching out and saying "hey noob, use this source. They're the Shit!" That is Completely wrong. It's what every noob wants to hear. And as for a vet doing this.... No way. I don't think anyone on here would suffer some noob getting the Hansel & Gretel gingerbread house treatment from a piece of shit Pusher. If this is actually what is happening, Flame On. I've gotten numerous requests regarding sources and who I've used, like most, I don't outright tell them who've I've used, because it would come across as an endorsement. I take the course of telling them what they can do to try and mitigate the risks of being scammed, but in the same breath remimd them that there is always going to be a risk and that without controlled QA, even the source can unwittingly be selling bad gear. Also, as the rest have stated, using ones standing on the board for self remuneration is just wrong no matter how you slice it. Def curious to see how this plays out.
