Do you really want to claim that “assent to revealed truths on the authority of God the revealer” has the same epistemic status as experiments showing that the human immunodeficiency virus is the cause of AIDS? That the “internal instigation of the Holy Spirit” is as dispositive for God as fossils are for evolution?

Charles Manson lives a long life dies peacefully of natural causes. Claims to be the son of God and has disciples that worship him. Is the father to children. Is loved by literally hundreds of beautiful women willing to marry and serve him.

You know if a god existed as Christians describe ie a magical being with infinite power, infinite love, that is present everywhere at all times past present and future. That knows the position of every hair on your head, can speak universes into existence and knows ever thought and action every human will have and has known this since the creation of the universe.
You think this god fella could have made pregnant Sharon's Tate's killers have a flat battery that night or got Sharon to stay at her mum's house. Would not have been difficult for an infinitely powerful being. This god guy could have just as easily made a universe where Charles Manson was not born to his underage prostitute mother. He could made an anonymous call to 911 that a car load of killers were heading to the Polanski residence to cut a baby out of a mother's gut because a guy calling himself the messiah told them to.
The fact this god character did nothing and in fact knew it was going to happen means either;
a). There is no God.
b). God is a sick sadistic cunt.

Sorry to say but these big mouths aren't evidence of anything. I often ponder the question and it is something I have read at length about in school (Christian University) and at home. It isn't fair to even judge whether God exists based on Christian Dogma as there are some stories and parables which might be mistaken for stories from older religions. Perhaps look up some of Jordan Petersons videos on the Bible I disagree with him on a lot but he is well read and interesting I will give him that.

Your premise is flawed - the Declaration of Independence states that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Obviously there can't be any metaphysical references in the Constitution - that would sort of upend the Bill of Rights (specifically the 1st Amendment).
There's more in the Declaration too: the “Laws of Nature and Nature’s God” and “the Supreme Judge of the world” and a “firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence.” And we can go on.
It's ridiculous to think that the Founding Fathers were anything like secular humanists.
I say this as an agnostic.

I was raised Catholic, didn't fit with my logic, learned about Christianity still didn't fit and then I read philosophy and see Nietsche and Jung have already asked these questions and it is really beyond us and we shouldn't expect an answer. Your right, horrible things happen in the world and yet no God parts the sky to save anyone. He didn't do it for the Manson victim he didn't do it for the Jews in WWII, and he didn't do it for those Jews during the Exodus that never happened. There is something to be said sure to the prominence of Jewish text in world history but in the long history of the world it is but a blink. Yahweh is certainly no Paleolithic God and came much much later, said to be a bastardizing of many other religions. If we are spit balling, we could be in Hell for all we know, we could have been literally banished once Prometheus gave us fire, ehm I mean Lucifer gave us Knowledge in the Garden of Eden.
If God doesn't bat an eye and millions of man and beast die and suffer daily our demands to know the truth certainly would be on the lowest priority. If we follow your logic God is more consistent with the old testament revengeful God and when we entertain the belief he may exist, he may just hate us, then suddenly the people who were formerly willing to accept any conclusion grasp for the comfort that atheism offers because it means we aren't damned. That we might devise an escape from damnation.

It's an infallible argument of course, so hopeless to argue against - about as fruitful as trying to persuade a Democrat to assess Trump's ideas on their merits without short-circuiting into the standing wave of "Trump is evil, so therefore all that Trump wants to do is evil" - although I'd rather argue with the Christians, they are a lot less violent than the Democrats.
That's a useless, pathetic and desperate reason to cling to faith.
