WSMWANNABE's path to (not) becoming a pro strongman

Yeah, I was surprised when I saw Faires at the top of his group
Going to be a fight in that group for sure.

As you know everything is in the air with WSM, depending on the competitions, could be a strength year and Shaw could do well... or even with a good balancd.
You start getting into mobility and speed, guys like Faires and Maxime (Gotta rep the Canadian boys) whose IMO agile for his size.....are going to start scoring crazy well.

That's a great thing about Strongman and PL, the top guys are extremely accessible to the other guys in the sport.
Due to the lack of popularity and massive pqssion these guys have for the sports I guess lmao.
Maxime is impressive. He is big, lean, fast, and strong. I think he has a bright future ahead if he can stay healthy (so far that has not been a problem but it only takes one injury).

And yea, it seems like very few people care about strength sports. That probably works in my favor, because if the talent pool was even larger, I probably would be even lower on the strength totem pole lol

Great example is a video Jamal Browner did a few weeks ago ( a QA)
Guys keep asking him when hes going to try for Eddie hall's record (Thors doesnt count IMHO)

He said "Guys.... no one pays me anything, I have a full time job, what can I do bro?"

The fact that a 240 lb guy is DL over 1k is crazy... and no one is paying him fuck all as one of the greatest athletes in the world is mind boggling

I'm pretty sure Eddie and Thor both got paid for theirs. I wonder if he just reached out to the right promoter if he could get paid.

Also, why do you feel that way about Thor's DL? I am not agreeing or disagreeing, just curious

At the end of the day
Competition is different from lifting in your garage
Stress, things not going well.... events being delayed and timings missed.

Multiple judges etc.

Thor lifted in his own gym... with a single judge (That Thor had already accused of corruption a few years prior)

None of the stresses or anything,
That's like counting Gym PRs in a PL competition.... doesnt work that way IMHO

Agreed on all points. Frankly I think Thor is a whiney little bitch, but so is Eddie. They're both children throwing temper tantrums

6/16/21 BW: 245.8

1) Plyo swing (light and easy warm up for push press)
4x2 @ 90 lbs

2a) axle push press from rack, beltless
1x1 @ 250 (RPE 5, this was supposed to be a triple but I completely botched the 2nd rep and dumped it so I did the triple again)
1x3 @ 250 (RPE 7)
1x3 @ 215
3x3 @ 210

I feel like this puts me in a really good spot for nationals on the axle clean and press @ 285 for max reps. No belt, and currently not on cycle, TRT only. Obviously the clean portion takes a bit of energy, but I am feeling good about this and I am still 4 months out. I think my current 1 RM on axle clean and press is about 270 and that was over a year ago. I am a much stronger presser since then, so 285 should be multiple reps for me at this point and especially come October.

2b) rear delt fly machine
3x20

3) supine banded pullover
3x15

4) banded snow angels
3x15

5) cable tricep pushdown
3x25

6) TRX pike
3x12

So I’m thinking ahead a little bit. I plan to start my next cycle at the end of this month and I and was thinking about running test c at 230/wk and tren e at 280/wk.

I did really well previously on NPP and I did wel this last cycle on tren a. So I thought about running NPP for 8 weeks at 280/wk to help recomp (it worked well for me last fall) and then tren a for 8 weeks to help lean out and gain more strength going into my next competition. Any thoughts or ideas on this?

6/19/21 BW: 254? (was on vacation and just eating and drinking whatever)

1) Stationary box jump
4x2 to 30"

2) barbell front squat (beltless)
1x5 @ 300 (RPE 6)
1x5 @ 275
3x5 @ 255 w/ 2s pause at the bottom

3) barbell row
4x8 @ 225

3b) deadlifts (these were completely unplanned and I only did them because I was already on a DL platform)
405x1 (speed rep)
495x1 (speed rep)
585x1 (RPE 8) this is the largest unplanned deadlift I have ever hit. My gym lifts suck compared to my comp lifts. This was just me fucking around after not straight bar deadlifting in 7 weeks.
635xmiss (I'm not upset about missing it, it was a 50 lb jump and I wasn't really even ready to deadlift at all. It broke the ground and I bailed when it was still moving up... but I didn't realize it was moving until I went back and watched the video. That would've been a 20 lb PR for me)

4) DB RDL
4x10, 70 lbs/hand

5) banded prone hamstring curl
3x20

6) Single leg glute bridges
10, 12, 10 reps in 3 sets

Starting this Saturday, I'll be starting my next blast:

WK1-8
Test C 235/wk, pin EOD
NPP 280/wk, pin ED
500 IU HCG/wk, pin 2x/wk

wk 9-16
Test C 235/wk, pin EOD
tren A 280/wk, pin ED
500 IU HCG/wk, pin 2x/wk

I may run a couple of orals, sdrol or halo, on comp day, and I'll throw it in 2-3 times during the workup to see how I respond to it since I have never used either of them before.

This will by my smallest cycle, on an mg basis, aside from my one test only cycle. This will be my 6th ever cycle/blast

Out of curiosity, why not run the NPP all the way?
Doing a weight cut before the competition I presume?

Yea, last time ran NPP I ran more or less maintenance cals and still gained 5 lbs while leaning out a lot. It was insanely good at putting on muscle. The tren helped me lean out quite a lot while still getting a lot stronger. If I hadn’t gotten fat between my nand and tren cycles I would probably be close to 10% BF right now.

I also keep hearing a lot about MENT and thought about throwing in 5-10 mg/day for the entire 16 weeks. But I need to do more research on it first

My coach programmed a 1RM deadlift for me for next Wednesday, 1 week from today. So I started my NPP 3 days early.

Next cycle is starting today. I am currently running:

-280 NPP/wk pinned ED (last cycle I pinned 100mg EOD and had bad enough mood sides, so I lowered the dosage and increased frequency to see if this helps)
-235 test C/wk pinned EOD
-500 IU HCG/wk pinned 2x/wk
-0.25mg anastrazole 2x/wk

I ordered some Trest yesterday and I should have it by this weekend I beleive. I'll have to transfer some to other vials since I will be potentially be pinning as low as 5mg/day which is 200 pins from one vial (10 mL vial @ 100mg/mL)

6/23/19 BW: 252 (weight is up a bit from vacation eating and drinking)

1) 60 yard shuttle
3x

2) trap bar deadlift (12" pick, beltless)
1x3 @ 425 (RPE 8)
10 min EMOM x2
3x2 @ 375
7x2 @ 335

If you have been following my log, it's pretty obvious I was still smoked from my deadlift session on Sunday. I couldn't even break 515 off the ground and the week prior I hit 555x5 @ RPE 7. I even had to back off the weight on the back off EMOM.

3) trap bar row
2x8 @ 215
1x8 @ 196
1x8 @ 155

4) Hack squat (3/4 rep)
3x12 @ 135

5) GHD banded back extension
3x12

6) Reverse hyper
4x20 @ 90 lbs

I got my Trest Ace in today, so now my cycle is:

235/wk Test C
280/wk NPP
35/wk Trest A

only pinning 5mg/day of trest may be a bit low, so I'll reevaluate in a week and see if I need to bump it up. I'll increase 5mg/day/wk, hopefully I can settle in as low as possible (like 10-15mg/day) and I will not exceed 25mg/day

So far I’m on day 3 of MENT, and on day 6 of NPP. I could feel the NPP decreasing my patience and mood quickly, but on the first day of MENT I could feel a huge boost in mood at only 5mg/day. At first I thought it was placebo but now 3 days in I can tell it’s helping, which is good because it’ll allow me to run NPP without disrupting my family life. If I get no other gains besides mood, it’ll be a huge plus for me and it’ll be well worth running it. I’ll also try stacking with tren in 7 weeks from now to see how i respond to that combo. My wife has also noted a huge difference in how much more “pleasant” I have been. And I can tell I have plenty of patience with my kids, and I know they can tell too.

As far as performance gains, I think it’s too early to tell. But I do have a 1RM deadlift coming up on Wednesday, so we’ll see if I set a new PR.

6/25/21 BW: 247

1a) Log push press from rack
1x5 @ 225 (RPE 6)
1x5 @ 215
3x5 @ 195

This didn't go quite as well as I had hoped, I think I was still paying for that deadlift session this past Sunday because everything felt heavy

1b) Banded pull apart
3x20

2) Chaos swiss bar strict press
3x12 @ 65 lbs+50 hanging

3) T bar row
4x8 @ 135

4) TRX buzz saw
4x30s

5) BFR bicep curls
3 lbs, 30, 15, 15, 15 reps w/30s rest between sets

6) BFR tricep rope pushdowns
30 lbs, 30, 15, 15, 15 reps w/30s rest between sets

6/26/21 BW: 246

1) sandbag toss
4x30 w/30 lb bag, throwing to 15.5' height (I blasted these sandbags. Best throw was 21-22'. Zero misses in 12 reps)

2) SSB hatfield squats
1x10 @ 355 (RPE 6)
1x10 @ 335
2x10 @ 300

3) yoke, beltless
1x 345 yoke dragging 135 lb sled for 50'
1x 445 yoke for 100 ft (17seconds)
1x 345 yoke dragging 135 lb sled for 50'

Yoke felt really good on this training day. I believe all of the sprinting and jumping is paying off big time. It also helped to launch the sandbag to the moon. This was the first time I had touched yoke since my last competition almost 2 months ago now.

4) BSS
3x8 each leg (BW)

5) Chaos shrug
4x20 w/35 lb kettlebell

6) standing hamstring curl
3x20 @ 10 lbs (I have terribly weak hamstrings)

7) reverse hyper
2x30 @ 50 lbs

If you’re concerned with bw, I’d avoid MENT. I see you already started so best to control food intake and go from there. Yes NPP had definitely made me an ass hole and I know a few other guy who have the same experience. Strange since deca doesn’t do that to me.

Anecdotally I've heard something similar.
My personal opinion is the rapid change in hormone levels.
Wheras with Deca you have time to "Acclimatize" to the changes in hormone levels
