Meso Powerlifting Corner

Anyone squat with both an Okie and a Texas Squat bar?
If you have what if differences in the bars did you notice?

Got fired up and pulled a 15 lb pr. Was gonna wait till this mock powerlifting meet thing my gym was supposed to be doing but they can't get any definite answers on when they wanna do it, so I said fuck it. 585 lbs, and know for a fact I'm good for 600. One pr a day tho. Screenshot_20170423-201010~2.png

Nice man! I'm right behind you... working with 600 rack pulls right now. Hopefully I'll be there in a few months.

Anyone have experience with atlas stones? There's a small strong man comp in June and a larger one in October that a friend of mine is wanting both of us to enter. Viewing last years results I think we could do pretty well.

The log press and sleds I'm experienced with and can acquire the equipment to train. The stones will be the only new thing to me. So just curious if anyone has used them, what exercises have good carry over if I can't train with stones frequently, or any other good advice?

So just a brief PSA I was in the ol book store yesterday looking at some running mechanics books and came across Kelly starretts book called ready to run. If I haven't lost you with the word run then you're in luck because I'm not trying I push cardio here it's actually more so the mobility work required for proper running mechanics transfers over amazingly for squats. The book outlines a lot for mobility I'd never thought of before and a few of the techniques had instantaneous pay off for me. first time I've ever just sat and read a book cover to cover in a day

Any of the instantaneous benefit techniques brief enough to describe here? I used to do lots of sprints but after I got over 220 I just kind of stopped. I should probably be doing some running again even if in short bursts, for my health alone.

fuck, i had a guy do body tempering on my calves and i honestly thought i might die or pass out from the pain. but my ankle mobility sucks as a result of tight calves. ill be doing this also, thanks!

Ya man I go to the Chiropracter once a week to work on my right ankle with ART and graston therapy and this came damn close to the release of the ART mobs I use a double lacrosse ball for the under side of my leg so it's pressing on both the peronues longus and the gastrocnemius lateral then use the lacrosse ball to really knead deep into the gastrocnemius medial, it hurts like bloody hell but that 5 mins of pain gave me the mobility to do the fastest squats I've ever completed

My God, thank you. I know this is an issue for me, especially front squatting for some reason.
Just relaying information is all, it's a great read and if I find an E copy I'll make sure I get it available for everyone like the other book collections

I've talked to him daily or weekly since he joined he's lifting heavy shit still and would kill me for telling y'all cause he told me in confidence but he's enjoying doing CROSSFIT with the wifey a couple times a week:eek:

I'll tag him cause I know he still reads so it doesn't look like I'm hiding it:p
Sorry @bhog
