As far as 100% irrefutable proof, you’re right, though the writings of Josephus, a Jew not of the Nazarene sect spoke of Jesus of Nazareth. A lot is based on faith, but similar to a court of law and a trial, there is a lot of evidence out there which could convince a jury to believe that there is a God. I highly doubt you’re interested, but a guy named Josh McDowell, an atheist, years ago went on a search to disprove God. When he looked at all the evidence he found, it was proof enough for him that there is a God. His book is called “Evidence That Demands A Verdict.”

If you look at it from the standpoint that there is a God and he chose to reveal himself or come in the flesh as a man named Jesus, then it would stand to reason that the true and only “religion” is Christianity (which is really Judaism fulfilled, not Christianity).

If you can't understand or refuse to understand it any other way, look at it like this:

If I choose to do what God says, then I've lived my life a disciplined, good person who love their neighbor as they love themselves and I've done my best to bring peace and understanding to those around me. I've lived (to the best of my abilities, we all fall short sometimes, but that's where repentance and forgiveness comes in), as someone who doesn't lie, murder, cheat on my spouse, steal, hate etc.

If I live that way, and I die and I'm wrong about God, then I've lived my life as a good human being. I lose nothing.

If I'm right, I go to heaven for eternity.

If I live according to the world, doing what I want, how I want, mocking God and essentially spitting in God's face and you're right about there not being a God, then I've lived a life doing whatever I wanted, sometimes at the detriment of others.

If you live doing whatever, regardless of what God says and not believing and you're wrong though....woe is you, for you'll be spending your eternity tormented in hellfire and darkness where you won't even be given a drop of water.

I have nothing to lose and everything to gain by following God. Unbelievers are simply playing Russian Roulette with their souls.

What’s yalls opinion on god?

Just thinking about this because I saw my aunt a month back and she’s pretty old. Completely lost it. Total religious nut over the top. Her answer for everything bad that happens in life is because the devils in charge of this world. Thinks praying to god actually makes any sort of fuckin difference. U get the picture.

My life has been shit since my mom got cancer and died when I was 11. Big fuckin deal that’s the least of my worries these days.

Point is, how the fuck am I supposed to pray to god and have some sort of fuckin hope in life when everything has gone wrong since before I could think for myself? Faith in religion is definitely on a string these days. Think I hate god more than I don’t believe in him.
I don’t fuckin know anymore. I think if there is a god I’d rather never meet him, I’d rather forget this life ever happened in the first place honestly.

But yeah what’s ur opinion on god the whole religion thing. Drives me up the wall when people saying praying actually does something. I think people just see shit they wanna see.

If there is a god, then there is an after life meaning death is not the end. Then life would be a (small) detour to eternity, sort of like having to go through college to get a good job - though not these days, since that tends to leave you with a ton of debt and a shitty job : )

As far as whether there is one (a god), you only have to decide whether you have free will. If you do, then there must be something, maybe god, operating outside the physical world granting that free will. If you don't have free will, then you're an automation completely controlled by physical actions and reactions.

Personally, I think the hard core atheists in the world just don't want to be held accountable for their fucked up lives.

Here's the thing when it comes to science and religion; you cannot combine the two of them.

Science is based off of evidence, things that can be proven with math or other evidence.

Religion is based off of belief and faith. Something abstract that you cannot quantify.

It is futile to try and compare the two.

I was just thinking about this. I've struggled about the earth being 6000 years old as well, but we don't technically know what time is according to the Lord.

It says he created the earth in seven days. What is a day to God. Is it 24 hours? Is it a million years in our time? God doesn't operate on our view of time because we as humans have created "time".

It does say somewhere that a day unto the lord is like a 1000 years to us.... Or something along those lines and the time line is actually incorrect as the romans changed the calendar from lunar, i believe it was to what we now use (IF I RECOLLECT CORRECTLY)

There is proof of giants, (in the bible david and goliath, etc etc) they have found evidence of giants

Angels being cast out lay with beautiful women and their off spring are the result etc etc

Actually the Bible never calls it a whale, but a giant fish and the reason for that is simple: a whale isn’t biologically able to swallow a boat or a man. Their throats are extremely small, which is why they eat fish.

I said Christianity because we know Christianity has been around for at least 2000 years. Judaism has been around long before that, and a monotheistic belief of God even before that.

There are many references to a Great Flood in other religions of the world, not just The Bible.

Let me preface this by saying 1st that most of my life I have been either agnostic or atheist. When I got clean and sober almost 6 years ago I had no belief in God..none at all whatsoever. My life had completely fallen apart due to alcoholism and severe drug addiction. At my absolute lowest point, I cried out to God because I literally had nowhere else to turn. That very day was the day that the obsession and compulsion to use was taken away. The only thing that I did was ask, from the heart, as honestly as I could. I do attend a 12 step group because I feel it benefits me to be around people that are like me. I realize that this probably doesn't prove anything to anyone, but it absolutely did for me. I do not attend church. I do read some things and pray on a regular basis. So many things in my life have changed since seeking this relationship. My life and my personality have changed dramatically, and I feel as though I'm a better man now.. That was all the proof that I needed for me

Awesome to hear man! I wasn’t looking for God either, but through a series of revelations of him, I was being drawn in and to him. You know you’re either on good acid or Jesus is calling you specifically (or both) when you’re at the lowest point of your life, tripping on acid and trying to kill yourself when you look over at a barn and see people nailing Jesus to the cross and he looks you dead in the eyes.

I'm not a big believer I do think something is out there but with all the different religions it's hard to say for me. Ducking awesome on getting sober I've been down ur road and honestly I never thought being sober and in control of my life would be so great I couldn't see going back. Anyways I believe that your relationship is how it should be a personal journey. I just can't get into megachurches I believe it should be smaller congregations to keep it on a personal. Sorry so long good for you and I really hope ur journey is a good one.
