I know what you are saying but my living situation (kids etc), this being 100% personal use, and having lots of sterile vials on hand makes this a lot easier than sterilizing tons of vials, stoppers etc. Hard enough doing media bottles. Don't get me wrong, I've thought about it quite a bit but this suits me best. Filling a handful of 10cc bottles lasts me a long time. Just want it to be easy. Otherwise I'd go cap/crimp and dispenser for sure.

Hey if it works for you then rock on!

I throw the caps in isopropyl about an hour before I filter and and bottle, not exactly the most sterile process but it suffices. Glass is cleaned with alconox, rinsed with distilled water then into alcohol bath for final rinse. Then go into the oven at 450 for two hours, allowed to cool to room temp then the process is repeated, tops get covered with foil.
Are you soaking the foil in alcohol and then covering them after taking them out of the oven?

No the you cover tops with foil before they go in the oven.
How long would you personnaly store away these “sterile” vials and still feel comfortable using them?

I use the same process as you minus the repeated rinse and bake. Another thing to note for anyone reading is make sure the alcohol is fully evaporated before covering with foil. One of my first times I pulled some out of the oven and had a very small pool of alcohol sitting in a couple vials.

No you’re not using the same process. You have to put them through twice.

If I don’t use the vials within a week I put them through the oven once more the night before. They’re probably good for awhile but I prefer overkill and it’s easy to do.

Hence why I said “minus the repeated rinse and bake”.

Surprised you don’t have an autoclave or dry heat sterilizer with how much you’ve brewed.

I don’t wash them twice, I bake allow to cool to room temp then repeat the baking process.

Haven’t quite needed the autoclave yet but it’s a consideration.

On my Santa list is an Autoclave!! Any suggestions, I’m thinking just the type that dental or tattoo shops use. $800. Approximately. Any input appreciated
And no I don’t source, I just like to be efficient and paranoid about sterilization A nice bottle top dispenser at some point. Ty

That dry clave I snagged up is awesome. I see them on eBay all the time for about 250-350. You can only fit a 250 media bottle at a time with the 25 vials. But it works great. If you're not brewing liters at a time it's perfect.

Favorite brand of BA/BB when ordering from the 2day shipping site or does it really not matter?

Also, found some interesting info while researching in the lab about using a certain type of filter I can't remember if it was PVDF or PTFE but ones of them doesn't actually have the all clear to filter both BA and BB from a lot of filter manufactures and both filters membrane seem to show up a lot around here, along with Nylon. Also RC is a recommends media from a bunches of companies for both BA and BB but I nevers hear it mentioned, do they not make them our size or some other reason no one uses them?

Does anyone know what I can keep in with my raws to keep them fresh? I was thinking silica packets like you get in prescriptions, but maybe that’s wrong. Someone mentioned it in this thread a while back, but I can’t seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated.
