I wouldn't make the mistake of ridiculing or underestimating HAN. He knows his stuff, I can vouch for that.
My sister, who was also competing in body fitness, completely burned herself out with a taxing precontest diet. She came to within inches of death, her body (and by that extension brain) chemistry went completely ballistic with insanely high cortisol levels, low thyroid and god knows what else. The local docs tried to tell her it was all in her head and put her on a bunch of goddamn antidepressants. With their "help" she would have ended up killing herself or locked up in a mental institution.
But HAN came to the rescue.. I got him to help her out. He had several personal consultations with her over the web, and even on the phone (I think). With just a few supplement suggestions and tweaks he literally saved her life. One supplement in particular that HAN recommended had an effect that was like a switch had been flipped: she went from a crying and fatigued wreck to having spontaneous bursts of laughter and rolling around in the snow like a little kid because she felt so much better.
Now the only med she's on is armour thyroid (plus a bunch of vitamins) and she is doing great.
So yeah, just wanted to say a good word on HANs behalf. If anyone asks me (or my sis), he's the real deal.
If HAN can chime in on this that would be great. Do you think you (or HAN) could provide kind of a case study ilke this? What were her symptoms...what exactly did she take...for how long...did she get better..etc. I think that would be extremely interesting...and might influence other people to seek out HAN as well.
I think I'll have to let HAN chime in here (if he has the time) because I don't remember all the specifics; only that SAM-e was involved on the supplement front. That was something we wouldn't have thought of ourselves, and it made a huge difference.
Symptoms wise she was suffering from debilitating anxiety, severe insomnia, whole body aches and general malaise (due to rampant cortisol levels and other factors), muscle weakness (due to salt & potassium wasting, I think), carb cravings and finally severe depression, which was undoubtedly the last link in the chain. In part because of the stress of her diet and partially because of the incompetence of the local docs (who put her on T4 meds, then doubled the dose, then dropped it completely! ), her thyroid went down the gutter. Even though she was "back on her feet" with the aforementioned supplements alone, her hypo symptoms only started to subside once she was on a sufficiently high dose of armour, which she maintains today. Interestingly enough, her adrenals seemingly survived the ordeal; at least she doesn't require cortisol supplementation.
HAN, would it be possible for you to provide a few more details?
if you search her screen name it is archived 100%
BTW we will be over in europe , england in june and october. While over there we are lying up radio shows and some television appeareance to educate athletes at the national and olympic levels about health issues association with extreme sports. Both my girl and I have both been through these and it almost killed me as well as devasted her life. We are both motivational speakers and are both have the same goal and intentions in mind. This is just the beginning..

I wouldn't make the mistake of ... underestimating HAN.
Do that at your own risk and to your own dismay.
I know we have similar situitation HANs but what did it end up being finally for you? Digestive problems? Mercury build-up, i was never quite sure as to what actually was the kicker for you and how you fixed it.
So far I have tested negative for endomyseial bodies and TTG.
STRESS (improper sleep patterns, imbalanced diet, overtraining ,hidden intestinal infections, previous family issues (2 years prior datd had quadruple bi pass, year later mom had breast cancer, 6 month later brother got diagnosed with MS,) pushing me past my genetic thresh hold trigger underlying mutation resulting in inability to detox heavy metals such as mercury. A lot of common factors I see in people with burn out is that as a child they were never taught t salt their food resulting in iodine deficiency which I barely had an in the loading test or clincal confirmed in a spot urine by quest. Being of irish descent the rt3 kicked right up and for some reason (speculate potatoe famine in our genes) rt3 never went down to treated with proper thyroid. I'm actually starting to look at these factors in my girl as well because shes 50% irish and she has also gone through burn out as well that is what makes us a powerful representations for what we tend to do..Mob if she had a sister 10 years younger she would be just perfect for you. Everything I tell her she will go research it. She already a psychhologist, but i'm educating on stuff I have learned to bring across the pond to england to help people over there. England is very stubborn when it comes to HRT and holsitic medicine
I am enjoying the "love fest" in this thread. However, since the information on someone's sister is involved and this sister had a real life encounter with Hans, and this encounter involved healthcare, HIPPA rules apply. Did the client agree to have her personal information made available? Is she, was she of age to give consent?
There are aspects of this personal testimony that smack of privacy abuse. Giving advice based upon what one would do if a person were in treatment seems legitimate. This is not a solicitation. To outright tell someone that they need to seek treatment with the post's originator is solicitous and warrants a second look ethically. This would put the member in a position of possibly believing that the only solution is to seek out the solicitor as the only source of cure and intervention. If the intervention suggested is evidence based, then any practitioner offering services that are evidence based is qualified.
Sorry if I have thrown a cold wet blanket on the thread.
Well it wasn't technically a 'real life' encounter since they never met face to face; the consultations happened mostly over the net, and I believe they also spoke on the phone.
Also, I don't think any personal information of hers has been made available for the general forumgoers. And yes, she's is an adult.
I don't know what you're talking about when you say "privacy abuse". I don't see how anyone's privacy has been abused here. My sister signed up at the forums out of her own volition and posted her story (with whatever degree of detail, I don't remember) for all to read, though she hasn't been an active member since. She didn't post her name or anything.
And I personally have certainly never "solicited" or advertised HAN in any way. I saw that people were getting on his case in this thread and decided to give my own 2 cents, because I think he's a great, knowledgeable guy and he was of tremendous help to my sis. I'm not saying everyone should form an orderly line and become his clients! If they wish to do so, that is their business. If not, that is also their choice to make.
Again, could you make her user name available so we could read this case study?
