Bush did not Start the War!

Guys & Gals,

I know there is a big debate on this board about Pres. Bush and how he started the war. Some say he went to war for differnet many different reasons.

I thought this email that I recieved from my friend that is in the military is quiet interesting. Read it and see what you think!

"Some old and some new. Read it all the way through.

Let's clear up one point: President Bush didn't start the war on terror.
Try to remember, it was started by terrorists BEFORE 9/11.
Let's look at the "worst" president and mismanagement claims.

FDR led us into World War II.
Germany never attacked us: Japan did.
From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost,
an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman finished that war and started one in Korea.
North Korea never attacked us.
From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost,
an average of 18,333 per year.

John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.
Vietnam never attacked us.
Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire.
From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost,
an average! of 5,800 per year.

Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.
Bosnia never attacked us.
He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and
did nothing.
Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.
Over 2,900 lives lost on 9/11.

In the two years since terrorists attacked us,
President Bush has liberated two countries,
crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida,
put nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot,
captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.
We lost 600 soldiers, an average of 300 a year.
Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack at
home.

Worst president in history? Come on!

For those complaining about how long the war is taking...

It took less time to take Iraq
than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound.
That was a 51 day operation.

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time
than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy
the Medina Republican Guard
than it took Teddy Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at
Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq
than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!

Our military is GREAT! PASS IT ON.

You know, it is easy to forget the 'promises' that Bill and Hillary
made while in office. It strikes home when it is listed like this:

After the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six and
injured 1000; Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted
down and punished.

BUSH COVERED IT!

After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S.
military personnel; Clinton promised that those responsible would be
hunted down and punished.

BUSH COVERED IT!

After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19
and injured 200 U.S. military personnel; Clinton promised that those
responsible would be hunted down and punished.

BUSH COVERED IT!

After the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, which killed 224
and injured 5,000; Clinton promised that those responsible would be
hunted down and punished.

BUSH COVERED IT!

After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured
39 U.S. sailors; Clinton promised that those responsible would be
hunted down and punished.

BUSH COVERED IT!

Maybe if Clinton had kept his promise, an estimated 3,000 people in
New York and Washington, D.C. that are now dead would be alive today.

BUSH TOLD THOSE FIREMAN -- THEY WOULD HEAR US TOO!

And, now that Bush is taking action to bring these people to
justice, we have Democrats charging him with being a war monger...

AN INTERESTING QUESTION: This question was raised on a Philly radio
call-in show. Without casting stones, it is a legitimate question.
there are two men, both extremely wealthy. One develops relatively
cheap software and gives billions of dollars to charity. The other
sponsors terrorism. That being the case, why was it that the Clinton
administration spent more money chasing down Bill Gates over the
past eight years than Osama bin Laden?

THINK ABOUT IT!

It is a strange turn of events. Hillary gets $8 Million for
her forthcoming memoir. Bill gets about $12 Million for his memoir
yet to be written. This from two people who have spent the past 8
years being unable to recall anything about past events while under
oath!

Sincerely, Cmdr Hamilton McWhorter USN(ret)

That email has been going around for a while now. Original origins, I have no idea.

But it does bring up some important points that seem to be forgotten. The US was attacked no less than 5 times under Clinton and yet he and his administration did virtually nothing in response.

Nice post. It amazes me how quickly we forget things in this country...........11
Between tv, the internet and cell phones, information travels faster than ever before. We are bombarded with thousands of pieces of information on a daily basis. The old joke is that a persons brain is so full that any new information pushes out some old information. There is quite a bit of truth to that statement and people's long-term memories.

Think back to WWII. News was played before movies and was updated probably once a week. By the time the general public saw that information, it was likely to be at least a week old and probably closer to a month. What happens now? We have reporters in combat with satellite phones and video so now the general public gets information from the opposite side of the world in about 1-3 seconds.

I have no problem with Pres. Bush as a matter of fact, given the choices I will once again vote for him in the 2004 election. My problem is that the United States has convinced itself that we can fight pretty wars where only the bad guys suffer injuries and give up and noone gets killed especially not innocent civilians. Anyone who has spent anytime behind the business end of an M16, or in the gun turret of an M1 Abrams or, M2 Bradley, or served in support of any combat force will tell you that there is no such thing as a pretty war. War is an ugly, brutal reality. People die in war, yes even innocent people. When you loose sight of that and concern yourself more with making sure that only the "bad guys" get hurt, you prolong the mission and place your own in significant danger. The life expectancy of an infantry soldier in combat is less than 2 minutes. Think about that. It is a very sobering fact. Now, the more minutes our men and women spent in conflict, the more of our soldiers we will loose. If we are gonna do this, fine, but do it right. Go to war! Take the gloves off. Get in hit it hard and get out. Accept the limited civilian loses, accept the loss of buildings, infrastructure and yes even religious sites. Hell, London was practically leveled by German bombers during WWII, it is not like reconstruction has never happened before in this world. When we stop trying to appease voters, the UN and other nations that hate us to begin with, and hit them with the full force of the U.S. Millitary, this thing will end and we will stop loosing our own soldiers and civilians to the brutallity of the recent months. If we are gonna go to war, then let's go to war. JMHO.

Political opinions for the most part, are a joke. Everyone is entitled, but I'm sad most people think their vote counts. They are voting based on someone else's opinion, and someone elses description and depiction of the facts (see network news for LEAST useful information, and most prejudice).

It's so easy to tie your ego to an opinion, and then that opinion never changes despite the evidence. People have a need to 'be right', and 'stick to their guns', but it's foolish.

Facts are facts. But even so, unlike the ones listed here, most have a foundation of untruth. And most people love the idea of intrigue and conspiracy theory, mostly because their own lives just aren't interesting enough. They want someone to blame, not the truth.

And Bob, you are quite right about people having a short memory. They also overreact, generally.

How we became a sniveling nation of fear based life and politics, I'm not sure, but my guess is it's the media, and the fact that now all of the idiots out there think they are educated about politics because they've seen the evening news. Yep, you saw it from a lying liberal source that wants to sell commercial time. The truth never sells. What sells is the sizzle, what sells is the spin you give to the truth.

Even my best friends have poitical views like this, and I just keep my mouth shut, because the moment you start speaking facts, they get as upset as if I'd told them they were ugly and smelled bad.

People don't want facts. They want to be stroked, and spew their spermy conclusions anywhere they can shoot off (just a fact, not meant to sound that negative). They like to talk, not listen. Selfish lovers, for the most part... who would rather live in a fantasy, rather than have a real relationship with the woman they are with.

For those who hate Bush, all I can say is, Thank God for Bush, he saved us from Al Gore.

that email is an eye opener. We are all getting tugged back and forth. Bush does have his good points but he is a fuckhead in a lot of ways. Just like all the politicians

Just like most people, you mean. People are people. It's just that actors and politicians have their 'stuff' laid out in front of everyone, under the microscope.

Almost everyone I know, is great in one area, and a complete jackass in another. Self not excluded.
