Thank you too for the reply BIG .
Yes I have seen them write tramadol for dogs and mine. My dad takes that stuff. I believe it converts to opiod derivatives similar to Codeine derivative lines, but don't recall for sure. Seems like I charted it out as pretty lightweight stuff, so never even bothered to try it. I believe the classify it as an "analgesic", which they also classify Tylenol - however it turns out that is just a generalized Greek nomenclature indicating "anti-pain". SO there are no lines to be drawn by that particular form of qualification per say.(as comparing for purpose of "Tylenol Safety in Dogs"..).. But I KNOW it is NOT a Narcotic, at least in the first pass metabolism. Then perhaps it may resemble further weakened "blood born relatives".
So I am going to research now. WHY HAVE I ALWAYS HEARD "DON'T GIVE YOUR DOG TYLENOL"??? And to find out - Is it just cause folks are too stupid to dose them correctly per LB, or is there a fundamental metabolic incompatibility???!!!????[/SIZE] I am guessing the first as I can imagine dumbasses shoving a couple of exta-strength Tylenol dog a 10 lb dogs throat seeing it as "OK", since they eat three of four on bad headache days.. LOL Poor pooches.. And I guess the publicized "Safety" in aspirin for dogs being that its not gonna stomp out a major organ on a mild overdose, and the normal market products not being ramped up in quantity, via the common U.S./Roman BIG GULP mentality...:drooling: Tylenol is probably MORE NON-Linear in actual achieved "analgesic returns " due to its ALIEN ORIGINATIONS.. (LOL- and reference to another thread JK) But actually, if you can feed people Tylenol and not dogs - THEN MORE THE ALIEN PROOF LOL (no, I NEVER STop with it LOL)
** ON A SIDE NOTE - I cant tell you how disturbing it is while researching this matter to see veterinarians PROMOTING PREVICOX and RYMYDYL over pain meds. THATS THE SAME KIND OF HORSE SHIT that Human docs do when they sit there and tell ya that Vioxx is SAFE and a better alternative for MILD Arthritis over Narcotics and for TWO RESONS 1. Chicken shits have vagina brains (that goes for male and female docs, just slight variance). 2. They are too fucking ignorant to know how to properly treat a patient. 3. They are so scared of litigation due to current social PSYCHOSIS RAMPANT, & 4. THEY ARE ALL BOUGHT OFF by BIG PHARMA via minimally SOUND BLOW JOB TECHNIQUE in Pharma Sales Reps... So they allow the first THREE to service their personal dementia. Assholes....!. OF COURSE (and the best part), they would NEVER accept currency in exchange for preferential BIASED and INCORRECT script writing as PRODUCT PROMOTION - Because THAT would be IMMORAL...

So apparently the same horseshit is going on in the world of medical care for our pets. But of course... But shit, whats the difference. While a dog cant tell a tale, neither can a dead man, or a stroked out one for that matter. Oh I forgot, Even if we were only maimed and could still speak, the courts WON'T HEAR US DO TO The legal protection they are afforded for being patron saints... ENOUGH...
Acetaminophen (Tylenol) Toxicity in Dogs - Page 1
Excerpt..: (By: Dr. Anne Marie Manning)
"Acetaminophen is a medication commonly used to alleviate fever and pain. Common brands include Tylenol®, Percoset®, aspirin free Excedrin® and various sinus, cold and flu medications. Dogs most commonly receive toxic amounts of acetaminophen because owners medicate them without consulting a veterinarian. They also consume tablets that are dropped on the floor or left lying around.
Dogs are less sensitive to acetaminophen than cats. For example, a 50 pound dog would need to ingest over seven 500 mg tablets in order to suffer toxic effects. In the cat, one 250 mg acetaminophen tablet could be fatal.
In addition to severe liver failure, acetaminophen causes damage to red blood cells. These include:
• Hemolysis, which is the destruction of red blood cells
• Formation of Heinz bodies, which are defects in red cells that cause them to be removed from circulation sooner than normal
• Formation of methemoglobin, a non-functional type of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin allows red blood cells to carry oxygen. When methemoglobin is formed, red blood cells cannot carry oxygen and the cat has difficulty breathing."
One thing I note is the Dog to Cat comparison. They give a weight on the dog, and not weight on the cat (as aren't they all the same).. SO it takes about (7) of those CATS to equal that dog...?!.... Well FUKIN DOUOUOUUUUUUGH Is the US POPULATION this fucking STUPID...!! And I DO see the math is not dollar for dollar, so she is saying the poor tiny little kitty liver cant handle it...
So I'm just not finding anywhere that says there is some fundamental INCOMPATABILITY in dogs as pertaining to their ability to take Tylenol.. I'm gonna check with vet and call it a day on that one..
Next time I come back to this thread I will be focusing on Narcotics in dogs, and WHY should I have all the fun? When after all she has brought me so much pleasure, love, and incomparable loyal trust. And NEVER COMPLAINED OF MY ANTICS ONCE....! (if my wife were only 1/4 the dog she is...!) And that concept intersects multiple dementias...! LOL But I'm thinking my girl might like a tab or two...
And It may just turn out that I put her on the Tramadol for the rest of her days. But of course I am going to have to now try some to see what I am giving her. Its only right... LOL Truthfully, and based on what my dad says about that stuff, I am wondering the value. Also the point of the synergy of action between the Tylenol and hydrocodone is under spoken in the medical scientific community. there is apparently a lot to it, which is why docs don't ever really write the hydro concoctions with aspirin or Advil...

BBC3 my dog recently lost a leg and they gave her tramadol for a couple weeks. Same stuff as for human use.
