Don’t call it a comeback

Yall get paid decent? Sounds like a gravy job. I had a job like that for about a year. Schedule was sweet , 6am-3pm, 90 min lunch. Most days I went to the gym with a couple guys from the shop. I was always ready for the gym not doing a fucking thing all day. Made it hard to get lunch though.

I’m there 60 hrs a week, 5pm-5am. Gross 82-85 /yr, depending on the extra work I take. I can’t complain, since my cost of living is extremely low, and my wife being a teacher, we live like royalty in this small town lol. I stumbled upon this job by accident, but I’m hoping to retire here. The terminal manager is retiring in 2 years and I’m a shoe-in for the position.

Tried to go as heavy as possible today, but couldn’t grip the bar so I had to do false grip and it messed with my reps / numbers a bit. Still a decent session overall.

Saw some really fat older dude that I’ve never seen before, putting up 4 plates like clockwork. Dude looked like he never stepped foot in a gym, was the weirdest thing.

My massage gun arrived today. $160 total and completely worth it. I got the knock off of the $600 hyper ice (I believe?), and it works just as well as the real thing. Very good quality. Obviously I can’t speak on longevity, but after today’s performance I’d definitely recommend it. It loosened my traps / tris so well. A7D540E5-B006-4EBB-9276-8141CAD689EB.jpeg

I know that guy, he would always ask me to spot him. He was pigeon toed? jk. There's a bunch of dyel guys that are stronger than you'd think

Yeah it blows my mind. Usually they’re on bench too. Never see them squatting or something lol.

Once in a while it’s deadlift. The form is typically god awful though. Some old fucking guy just walk up to a bar put 4 or 5 plates on there and start doin stiff leg

Yeah. I'm a union EIA tech. Its gravy and great pay. Im.not bitching about the pay just the boredom.

My thumb didn’t interfere with benching too much, but it jacked up my DB press for some reason. That shit hurt on every rep.

Overall, I wasn’t satisfied with today’s session. It felt bland and forced, if I’m honest. Just one of those ‘grind it out’ type of days. I honestly felt like I could get to 6 plates on the block pulls, but didn’t realize how weak I was from that position at a dead stop. It’s definitely something I’ll be working on until it’s fixed.

Block pull, 2-3in below knee
225 x6
315 x4
405 x2
495 x1
525 x1

This is a very awkward position for me, but it’s where my weakness is—just below the knee. 405 felt heavy and 495 felt nearly impossible. Between these block pulls and RDLs, I’m hoping to target that weakness and eliminate it.

had to DIY a block pull setup. These foam pads are a bitch to load plates—It’s a workout on its own.

Can you get the pins lower on the rack? That may be easier if you can get lower and pull from rack

I did conventional block pulls today and I'm way way weaker on them than sumo from the floor.

Pulling from the rack changes the mechanics of the lift because it's the bar resting on the rack rather than plates resting on the floor or blocks. Block pulls are superior for deadlift carryover.

go to a gym with a deadlift caddy, most likely they will also have proper blocks. Check out http://www.powerliftingwatch.com/gym-filter , they have a gym list. It's how I found mine
