Hair Loss

Re: The big 4 (now 5) for preventing hair loss.

Armani is a world class liar that was exposed on the Hair Loss Network for many things, he has ruined many lives with his NW 1 mega transplants on 20 year olds in which half the grafts never grew and even if they did he went through 60% of the persons donor hair planting a hairline so low you would never have enough grafts to keep it filled in if your baldness continued.

I must be more sensitive than you to MPB as I can't take 100 mg of Test a week without losing hair and I'm on 1.25mg/fin, Rogaine Foam ( it works AWESOME and I have regrowth from hairline to crown) at 2 bottles a month and Nizoral 2 %

I was going to ask about the 15% minox you reccomend and ask if you thouight it was better than foam but from what you have said you may have never used foam before you made the website as I don't think i came out until 2008. Foam was NIGHT AND DAY compared to 5% liquid Minox for me

Interesting report on Armani, I didn't know that some of his hair transplant results were sub-par. I always thought he was a great albeit, overpriced, doctor. I'm happy I went with my other hair restoration physicians (Dr. Glenn Charles and Dr. Ken Siporin) for my work. He definitely has a bunch of stiffs marketing for him. He also reported had a clause in his contract with patients that he could sue them if their blogs looked bad.

I have used the foam and I really liked it too, I definitely agree that high-quality minoxidil makes a difference. I have had success with absolutely saturating my head with a generic 5% minoxidil for an entire day (i work at home) - I would do that everyday.

I still have to give the nod to the PI 15% minoxidil formula. I really really think Azelaic Acid does wonders (so long that it is in a carrier that can penetrate the scalp). Like the foam, it dries really fast and you can style your hair (unlike generic minoxidil - which is so oily).

if you are following along at home, this is the solution we're talking about: Recommended Products

I definitely think it's worth a shot, but it the foam is working for you - if it ain't broke - don't fix it!

Hey guys, I wonder if anyone has tried this shampoo? It's called "N2 Shampoo"
http://www.needtobuildmuscle.com/store/Health-And-Wellness/N2-Shampoo-7oz-p85.html

The owner of the company was nice enough to send me a free sample and I will be reviewing it on my site: Hair Loss From Steroids - Preventing and Controlling Hair Loss From Steroids. I'll give it a month or so as a standalone. The guys on AM.com rave about it, I just came across it a few days ago.

ill keep ya posted

Re: The big 4 (now 5) for preventing hair loss.

foam does a better job of dispersing over the scalp IMO. that may be why it worked better for you. not only that but it can cling to and slide down the hair into the follicle, increasing effectiveness.

I have noticed that with the liquid dropper I cant really seem to get it all over scalp (my hair is still thick) so I have to use more. when I use more I notice that I can get red, sore spots....so I am limited to how much i can use. the 15% solution may cause a bit if irritation for some people. tough to say if more effective without a legit study to prove it.

peace,

-billy

I use 2 cans of foam a month as I use it hairline to crown and have had growth all over, I also have a lot of hair, I could use maybe 1000 grafts in my hairline that I may have done in 2012 but that's getting picky as I really don't need it. I believe I used more than enough rogaine liquid to cover my scalp, I think it's the foams delivery method that lets more be absorbed inthe scalp, whatever it is I'm not complining, lol. In case you are not aware you can get foam for under $14 shipped on Amazon

I knew all about the waivers Armani made you sign and idiots like Shane and Pats205 who work for him. Slowly but surely more and more 20 somethings are showing up with major problems from Armani because all of his Mega FUE grafts didn't grow and /or he put the hairline too low and used too many grafts so you don't have enough grafts left to to fill it in.

So did you actually use 500mg/week of Test and lose hair while on 1.25 mg/fin ( amoung other products) and then switch to 2.5 mg of fin and it stopped ?

Jeez... that sounds awful. Are there pictures of these botched surgeries out there?
I think they quoted me $23,000 for 2000 Grafts... I got the same amount for $5000 in 2008 and was happy with result.

Yeah man, correcto: I would cruise at 250mg of test and 1-1.25mg of finasteride.
I started using 500mg of test and began to notice hair loss. So I upped the dose to 2.5mg and within about 10 days the hair loss subsided. Test E.

In the future, before I upped my test dose, I would make sure to increase my finasteride dose 2 weeks before.

So you got 2000 grafts for $5000, that's the cheapest by far I have ever seen at $2.50 graft. DR Armani was quoting you for FUE while you no doubt got strip.

Join the Hair transplant Network and search on Armani results, they are all over the place. Armani Sued HTN ( and lost) because people were posting bad results and comments on thier site.

wow, I'll check those out man... what a piece of sh1t.
Now that Armani has moved offices into the US (Los Angeles) he'll definitely be evaluated fairly.

I got a bit of a discount because I agreed to do a blog
Hair Restoration Site for ChrisHT_by_DrCharles
prices have gone up in general though. I don't think we could find 2000 grafts done by a legit doctor for under $6000

Have you tried any concealers? they give me an appearance of a full head of hair. (please forgive the "commercial" type of attachment that appears, it seems that this forum links the pictures on Amazon.

Dermmatch is excellent for the hairline if you need work on that area.

My hair is fine, I've had 2000 grafts done in my lifetime by DR Cohen at $6 graft. I could use ( hair greed) another 1000 in my hairline which I will do someday with Ron Shapiro at $4.50 graft. I would be highly suspect of any Dr charging under $4.50.

I see you had a 2nd transplant recently of around 1900 grafts , did he give you the same discount ?

Funny he gave you the discount to write a blog as if the resultt was poor he was in a way paying you to show everyone and regardless of what anyone says all Hair transplant Dr's have cases that are not that good including the great Dr's like Shapiro, Feller, Hasson and Wong, etc, etc

I can blow dry my hair forward and my slight hairline problem is gone, I tried dermatch, regardless of what anyone says it looks fake at the hairline

My second transplant was ~1647? grafts I believe but with Dr. Ken Siporin since I lived in Los Angeles. Great work. Don't live in LA anymore so I may go to Dr. Charles or Dr. Gabel for my 3rd.

Dr. Gabel is $4.50 for the first 1600 and $2.50 thereafter, very reasonable.

DermMatch takes a while to get the hang of, but it depends how you style your hair. Toppik is also good on the hairline in my opinion, use them both daily

Re: The big 4 (now 5) for preventing hair loss.

I used finesteride 1mg - 1.5mg for 2 years. It killed my libido. Killed erections and was just all bad. small case of gyno too.
Merck is being sued for underreporting sexual side effects. Be very careful using this drug as some men have continued sides well after stoping it. propecia help is full of them

im sorry to hear this.

this can definitely be the case, approach finasteride with caution - I'm on HRT so thankfully I can keep my DHT at an adequate level to maintain libido and avoid estrogen running wild

Are the photos after your ahir transplant taken with topik or Dermatch in ? From what i see you don't need anymore work and you are talking about a 3rd operation. How long ago was your 2nd transplant ?

I'm sure you know this but you only have so much donor hair and it's not enough to cover your head if you lose too much native hair.

I have about 6K donor still left plus FUE and at age 43 I still won't fool around with the drugs anymore as I'm not sure I have enough

the blog doesn't feature current pictures.. I'm pretty thin on the top (have been since age 20) and noticable thinning on the hair line which I'd like to get taken care off. Concealers, toppik and dermmatch, do wonders for me though. I'm not aiming for a full head of hair, just a strong hair line and enough on top to use toppik. I really think you should give toppik a shot man! I don't want to sound like an infomercial, but its good stuff.

worst comes to worst, as of right now, body hair transplants look decent on the crown (i def. know the texture and growth rate is different than scalp hair) but it's decent "filler".. and in theory, an unlimited supply of donor hair. There's a few legit doctors that have began to incorporate a FUT/FUE and BHT in their procedures. do you know about dr. sansui umar? I ask because do definitely know your stuff when it comes to hair restoration!

Re: The big 4 (now 5) for preventing hair loss.

I ran across this website today, I don't know if people have seen it or not. Pretty basic info as I have researhed this for a long time.

Hair Loss From Steroids - Preventing and Controlling Hair Loss From Steroids

Hey bro! That's actually my website... I haven't posted since 2005, but I found that the site was mentioned here from my web analytic page. So let's see if I can give you some info here.

I've had 2 hair transplants, so that's why I have a pretty decent head of hair in the video. I'm actually working on the website now and planning to put up [pre-surgery] pictures, so show some guys the results.

If you have any questions, fire away! :tiphat

I've had 2 hair transplants

I would take that as a negative recommendation, unless, you are recommending a hair transplant!!! Regardless, the honesty is refreshing.

good to know, Doc.

I also would like to know what do you think about the "Post-Finasteride Syndrome" and all this things we see around the Internet.

I will appreciate to read your thoughts after observing both theoretical and practical consequences of its uses.

Could 5ar inhibitors be so harmful as people say?

Latisse For Androgenetic Alopecia (Male/Female Pattern Baldness)—AGN is running two large phase-2 trials, one for men and one for women:

Safety and Efficacy Study of Bimatoprost in the Treatment of Men With Androgenic Alopecia: Safety and Efficacy Study of Bimatoprost in the Treatment of Men With Androgenic Alopecia - Full Text View - ClinicalTrials.gov (men)

Safety and Efficacy Study of Bimatoprost in the Treatment of Women With Female Pattern Hair Loss: Safety and Efficacy Study of Bimatoprost in the Treatment of Women With Female Pattern Hair Loss - Full Text View - ClinicalTrials.gov (women)

Both trials have 300 patients and will report data in late 2012.

[Latisse - DailyMed: About DailyMed – (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% is indicated to treat hypotrichosis of the eyelashes by increasing their growth including length, thickness and darkness. Bimatoprost is a structural prostaglandin analog. thank you
I have experienced both sides of finasteride: dead libido and low energy (and it being effective) to it not being effective at all. It was a trial and error adjusting my Test E (physician prescribed HRT) to avoid finasteride's side effects but still have it be effective. My test levels are definitely on the high side of normal... I find it effective but I have no doubt that finasteride can really mess up some guys natural test/DHT levels. I chop generic proscar into 1/4s... I probably wouldn't pay for Propecia since its $69/month however.

Re: The big 4 (now 5) for preventing hair loss.

thanks Dr. Scally, its always good to read your posts.

CED, so do you think that who is on gear may not feel the negative side?

Re: The big 4 (now 5) for preventing hair loss.

CED, so do you think that who is on gear may not feel the negative side?

That is what I think, based on personal experience... the exact amount of gear will vary from person to person... We also discuss DHT, you know, but estrogen levels also play a role in libido and are responsible for many of Propecia's side effects such as gyno. In short though, the formula that worked for me is keep test levels high-normal with HRT and using 1.25mg of finasteride per 250mg of testosterone (when I formerly cycled).

I can't discount that I have had 2 small hair restoration procedures (on the hair line) I'm very sensitive to male pattern baldness, but without finasteride or some of my other recommendations (listed on my little website: hairlossfromsteroids.com) I think the alopecia would have been much greater.

I don't need any concealers, 99% of people think I'm crazy even thinking about the hairline transplant and 1000 grafts would give me a thick hairline but if I do it I want it done right. The only problem is posssible shockloss as it would be all impanted between hairs.

I have seem Umars work, I would consider body hair transplants a last resort and most people use them for repair when they are out of donor, I have seen great improvement on patients who got hacked up by a bad DR and need a repair but the hair never looked right even in photos ( which never tell the true story on hairloss) to be honest it looks like Pubic hair.

One other thing to add is propecia inhibits body hair growth in most people so by taking Propecia you would in theory be working against your body hair transplant although I'm not sure how it would work when taken from the body and planted on the head.

Now you know why me having a full head of hair and over 6K in donor still won't fool around with Test anymore, Now if I could come across some Anavar I knew was legit............................................
