Unless you have a really expensive hot plate, it probably doesn't have much control over the heat and it'll get really really hot. So just kinda be careful with that, set it on low for a bit and then turn it off.
Oil holds heat for a long time, so it's easy to burn and hard to cool. You'll see the mixture start to dissolve as more heat and mixing occurs, just keep slowly raising it. Test cyp you'll probably have to heat right off the bat a bit though.
Ideally, you use as little heat as possible and rely on mixing. Test E for example I won't use any heat and after an hour it'll be dissolved. Some compounds really need that heat though, like test cyp. Then once it's dissolved, just let it stir for an hour or few, to give it a chance to possibly cool and crash (to let you know you need more heat, or that you're done).
Brewing is very easy, not much too it. The more you do it the more you'll figure out the ways you like to do it, in the end not many people do it so there isn't really too much info out there on it, you just kinda do what you like. Some people are allergic to certain carriers, some people avoid certain oils because of something they might've read, etc etc.
I mean we all say stuff like 20% bb but you could probably use less, but everyone uses 20 even when BB often isn't even necessary. You could probably do a 250mg/ml test cyp with just EO and no BB, who knows. Maybe you don't like BB. Maybe it's not something you care about so it's not worth trying to reinvent the wheel.
It's fun, rewarding, and cheap, and a lot less illegal than back when we were using those same skills to cook pies in the kitchen
