How many calories do you eat?

4500-5000 bulking, 2500-2750 cutting. Hit 223lb last bulk at 5'10, and was relatively lean. Hope to make 210lb during this current cut, or even 205lb if I can keep my size. Because of my work and lifestyle I fast for one day (~18 hours) once a week. It helps minimize stomach bloat, keeps me tighter in general, and helps during bulks where eating 5000calories a day for months just sucks. It doesnt seem to cost me gains.

I do my macros kind of weird, factoring protein separately. In theory, I do about 35/65 fat/carb for bulks, 40/60 fat/carb for cuts. I do about 150-200g protein/day no matter what. I haven't seen any benefits from going any higher. In practice, I go by feel. If I hit 2 really intense workouts in a row I'll eat a little extra to recover, or before a day I need to perform well.

I don't really do maintenance. Some light cuts, but I always try to have a goal. Doing a year in school for nutrition changed my thinking on maintenance.

natty
i'm making pretty good gains. could only imagine if i bumped to 4000

I imagine you would be saying bye bye to any chance of losing weight.
if i bumped to 4000? or staying at 3000?

whats the trick in lean muscle ya know? everyone says in order to get big you gotta eat....so what happens when you start cutting??do you simply lose fat only or both fat and muscle??

Well only you can answer that. I don’t know your TCI/TDEE? You mention your Caloric intake (3000) and your goal, is it currently working for you? If not you need to drop calories, pretty simple. So obviously if it is working eating 4000 cals will take you in the opposite direction.

sorry for the 'naiveness' but what is TCI/TDEE?

i don't do any cardio so i need to practice that discipline. at 3000 i'm pretty much staying the same as far as body fat goes but i am gaining weight slowly and getting solid with some definition. so for buildng muscle it seems to be working.not for losing fat. i know if i add the cardio it probably will be just right
