Jay Max Log (Switching from BB to PL and a place to BS)

Got back home last night after a week in the middle of nowhere; working twice as hard as usual, with about 2000 cals a day (4000 less than usual), and no sleep.
Weighed myself. Lost 10 lbs :(

Went to the gym to have a good PL workout today, but there was no power. So I did some shoulders. Nothing much; OHP, front and lateral raises, shrugs.

I plan on eating a lot over the weekend and getting my energy back up. Then getting back into the routine next week.

Gotta finish these last 4 weeks of my blast strong...so Im trying the SD again. 12.5 mg a day. Plus Halo on heavy days. Time to put in work!
 
Set backs are to be expected, this is a hobby after all. Rest and eat lots of pancakes this weekend and I guarantee you'll be back where you were at. Feel free to send the SD this way if it still doesn't agree with you.

This is going to be like a refeed weekend for me. And Im hoping the SD works this time. Im going to keep the dose at 12.5 regardless.
 
Jay , if i were in your shoes, i would think of that week as a rest and recoup for my body. And come back with the mindset that my body is rested and ready to go and hit the gym hard when i got back. You will be amazed how good the body responds after some rest.
My point is rest is not always a bad thing, oftentimes its the path to gains!!
Now hit the gym hard and heavy and eat like a freed POW, you will grow[emoji123][emoji123]

I'm Back

I went in today planning on doing low weight at high volume, kind of like a mix between my volume and active recovery days, but I was feeling pretty good.
As @Mr.B66 said, the week off did me good. I lost some weight and a little power, but I have no soreness/tightness at all.

As I said, I planned on doing some high volume but things changed. Im really happy about the reps above 300. They were easy and I couldve done more weight / reps.

Squats

350 is a new 1 rep PR and I got 2. Couldve done a lot more here too. I got lower than I ever have because I wasnt tight at all.

Bent Barbell Rows

375 x 3

Funny story, I dropped the barbell here kind of hard and it bounced up and scraped my finger. Rubbed off a bunch of skin. I didnt notice until blood was going everywhere. The people at the front desk were freakin out.

Thats all. Good workout. Ill be taking a few days off and getting back to the normal routine tuesday. And yes, I am eating like a "freed POW".

Side note: getting to my usual 6500 cals has been hard. When I originally got there I built it up over time (started at 3500 and moved up little by little when i saw no gains). Now Im trying to go from 2500 for a week to 6500...

Also my big 3 lift max's today were a total of were 1055, which is 50 more than my best day before.

Lol I think its funny how some people freak out like that over a little bit of blood. I'm surprised they didn't call the ambulance:D Lookin good brotha Jmax:cool: Sometimes its nice to take a break so everything heals nice. Sometimes I come back a little stronger from the rest. Keep pounding away at em my man;)

Volume Day aka Pump up the Jams

Im slowly gaining weight back. The SD sides have come, but theyre mild because of the low dose. Im not sure if the SD is causing my lethargy or Im just tired because Ive worked 18 straight days. Either way I have 27 days left on my blast and im going all in.

Everything went good here. But the SD back pumps kicked in. Then went away pretty quickly.

Bench - Did high volume on the low weight warm ups because my elbow was tight and I wanted to loosen it up.

Thats all. Pretty good workout. Started getting tired near the end. All I want to do is sleep now.

Also lately Ive been having some trouble gripping bars on pulling exercises. Like its hard on my hands / fingers. I dont know if its carpel tunnel or something else. Never had it happen before...

Taurine definitely helped me when I first used sd, the back pumps were pretty bad. I've found now that I've ran it 2-3 more times now I don't get them anymore. Adding a banana a day helped too.

I'm curious as to how orals that provide a quick jump in strength play out in the powerlifting world. I'm assuming once you drop them your strength will inevitably go back down a bit.. Which for the bodybuilder isn't an issue whatsoever because the mass has been achieved. But for PL- I wonder Would this be a good time to take a Deload?
 
Hey Jay, have u ever read about or considered 5/3/1 method by Jim Wendler? I've used it for the lady two years with great success. Progress is slow but ive added about 200lbs to my deadlift in that time. Food for thought.
