Marijuana [Cannabis]

The nutrient damage was from the medical dispensary that I got from. My wife and I have been using ......tap water. I know we need to not use it. We've been so busy lately. Lights are LED but not even close to your strength. So much to learn..... Have feed any nutrients yet... Used organic soil from Home Depot.

If it came from the dispensary that would surprise me unless they were relatively new or someone made a careless mistake or it's a new strain for them. They should have the experience to know what's enough and what's too much/too little.

Any questions just feel free to ask. I love growing weed, it's a passion of mine. I've helped many friends do it and so long as you follow a few basic rules you should be fine. With experience you'll gain more advanced knowledge needed for better grows.

When I use organic soil I make sure it has no nutrients in it. Some are advertised as having nutes or time released nutes. I don't want to guess as to how much the plants are getting when I'm already feeding them with the guano.

I think for this first attempt we are gonna not use tap water and let it ride to see what happens....is that a mistake?

Tap water is perfectly fine for a soil grow, if you're doing hydro than distilled would be better idea. The reason being PH is much more important to soilless grows than it is for soil grows and also it's much less likely to develop Ph problems with soil. Possible but unlikely as the soil acts as a buffer.

If using tap water always use the cold water from the faucet not the hot water, even if you let it cool down. The hot water pipes will have more rust, calcium deposits. And other trace crap than cold water pipes do.

The reason why I didn't go with 5gal buckets was because of limited growing space. I was afraid plants will out grow greenhouse.

We will do Next round correctly. We got over our head. We should have learned more before starting....newbie mistake.

Some of the best lessons learned or most important lessons learned come from the worst mistakes. Don't be afraid to fuck up since you will learn from it

@Docd187123, thank you for your willingness to help. The medical dispensary are staffed by kids. They recently started selling starter plants. BUT that doesn't mean they don't know what they are doing or do know what they are doing. I've noticed that not all medical dispensaries are created equal. I've been to one where it was at someones basement in their house (at least I think it was a medical dispensary lol) and very sketchy. Then there is my go to which conducts themselves similar to an actual pharmacy with white gowns and prescription looking labels.

Believe, I am not afraid to fuck up as I seem to be very good at it lol, but I prefer not too.

I completely agree with your statement "Some of the best lessons learned or most important lessons learned come from the worst mistakes.".....seems to be my life motto and what has made me into who I am today.

Gonna get another light..... G8LED 240 Watt LED Grow Light with Optimal 8-Band plus Infrared (IR) and Ultraviolet (UV) - 3 Watt Chips $309.99 on Amazon.

And gonna get a bigger green house as one of our plant is now few inches away from touching light. Current greenhouse is 4' tall.

Plants are doing good. Leaves are green with no more yellow edge. My lazy ass is still using.....tap water and no nutrients.

There is a hydro growing supplies store near me. I've been planning to go, but life happens.

You'll want to learn to top your plants in those kind of grow tents.

If you need a quick fix, drill a hole in one side of your out, for off a higher node that isn't too delicate, and bend the plant over and your down. Leave it two days, and tighten further. This still get you an ugly little bush that still fit your space.

AI1 2-6-2016 1.JPG I'm a new grower chasing pain meds. Who can tell me what's going on here? These are northern lights hybrids each of which is showing this tip browning. Some garbage/unknowns are growing 3 times as big with no problems at all. All were planted in potting soil from seeds about a month ago, no nutes until the day this shot was taken as well as a funguside the same day which is the white on the leaves. They are in an enclosed cabinet with exhaust and a fan, have never seen ambient temps above 70f, and are under large CFLs somewhere around 180w per plant (I'm broke). The lights were adding a good bit of heat even though you can wrap your hand around them, but have since been raised from 4" to about a foot to rule this out. What's going on here? My reading shows likely light burn (adjusted), low potassium (added nutes), heat (adjusted). What else, and how long to recover?

Sry man I'm not a grower just consumer. Just wanted to say you took me wayyy back with the northern lights strain. :D nice

I forget the other half of the mix but the NL + whatever came highly recommended for the CBD rather than the THC which is what I'm after rather than so much of a buzz. This shit is so puny I may start over with the seeds from some homey weed I'm testing. It's indica but that's all I know about it from the one weed that's taking over the place. Funny how the shit I don't want is trashing the supposedly good shit!

Not totally sure. Harder on the runts. Can tell you it's not light or heat issues.

Any change on adding nutrients?

What kind of potting soil? 9 times out of 10 with seedlings, you're seeing nitrogen burn from a hot planting mix. If your other bagseed is taking off in the same mix, I would guess that is the issue, as different plants have different nutrient tolerances. Best bet is to flush them out a bit, and hope they ride it out.

The other issue would be PH lockout, or moisture issues. How is your watering cycle? Does the soil dry out almost completely before next watering? It should.

Definitely get on a growing board if you can though. Same deal as here, you'll learn a load really quick. Been too long for me to give really confident advice.

I would not throw the girls out. they are savable. you might have the light to close to the plants. just cause the room temp is fine doesn't mean the light next to the plants is the same temp. diluted peroxide is great for killing fungus. chances are if your getting fungus your grow area is to humid.

Basically what Dballin and HuckingFuge said. I wouldn't throw them out bc they're not too far gone by any means.

Clones and seedlings don't need much light at all and even less nutes. I don't even give them nutes until they've seated their roots properly.

A good rough estimate if it's due to heat from your lights, assuming ambient temps are ok, is you should be able to place your hand just above the upper level leaves on the plant and not get your hand burned. If it's too hot for your hand it's too hot for the youngins. Either reduce the total light output, improve circulation, or move the lights further away from the plants.

Too soon to tell with the premiums but the freebie is showing signs of nute burn now so... One of the premiums has upturned leaf edges which made me think either heat or iron def so heat was addressed. It shows maybe 20% improvement.

Pot soil is Miracle grow .21N, .11P, .16K (note the decimals are accurate) with straight tap water (small town, low chemicals supposedly) for a month.

I was doing E3 days and upped to every other day with no change. I'll back it down to "see what happens".

I'll poke around but rather than re-introduce myself for a low end hobby I wanted to poke some questions at a familiar crowd! I hope these growing pains ease up - they're just fucking weeds - how hard could it be?? LOL!

Re. Doc and Huck, I can wrap my hand around the CFL without any issues and they are now 12-18 inches apart.

Making the Grade is on with Judd Nelson .. Holy Shit!
This is old .. the blond is still hot ..

Seconded and thirded.
4th and 5th.

Better off with some generic brand shit with lots of perlite. At least the fucked up nutrient blend they use won't be so hot. PH is always fucked in MG too.

Fox farms (add 25% large perlite), subcool SS (requires mixing, PITA for hobbyists), or a coco medium with whatever nute system all grow good plants easily. Only issue with coco is that it's imperative to have a ph, and preferably TDS meter right out of the gate. And no tap water, no exceptions.

Cheapest way around is to grab a bale of peat, or peat coco blend. Add 25% original volume each with castings and chunky perlite. Feed with fish and kelp hydrolysate as needed. Could need an organic flowering blend for heavy feeders, as going too heavy on kelp in the last few weeks can delay maturation. Guano is another great option.

This can be reused for a few grows too, if you break up most of the root ball, and then let it break down for a month or so in a Rubbermaid tote with ventilation holes drilled. Hit it with a little more EWC, and you're good until the perlite breaks down too much.

Or, pay out the ass for a pre mix. Definitely convenient. Can't remember the name, but the brand that came in the camo field bags was good and cheaper than the alternatives. Or any of the major names will grow plants, provided you don't fuck with their system too much (don't worry about the crazy shit though, grow bloom, kelp all you really need).
