Meso Powerlifting Corner

Thanks. I measured at 14+ a little and went with 14.
I saw they had a new 2.0 version but got the originals because I really wanted black. I hate to say it, but I have to somewhat match (Im a little ashamed actually typing that though).
Hopefully I can jump back on the bench right away.

One black is the best goes with every outfit obviously:p and two you do not want the 2.0 version it is incredibly stiff and I can't even bend my elbow past 90' when I have it on and when I bench I need at least 135 on the bar just so it can touch my chest and even then it hurts my elbows they are so stiff. I use my 2.0 cuff on my calf to squish it while I'm stretching so I get a better stretch other then that I think you need to be a 500+ bencher to need that kind of overkill.

Well looks like I found my next comp. Itll be a little drive but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Its mid September, so Im looking to backwards plan and find some programming thatll have me peaking at the right time
Figure ill start a heavy cycle the start of August

Mid September you say.. A far drive you say.... Hmmm there's one mid September that's a far travelling distances from you that I think you'd enjoy but we'd have to think of a new clever name for the thread. Like 5guys plus Jay or something lol.

This needs to happen.

That would be cool. Between getting a new(er) car, and other expenses I dont know if I could make it that far. This one is about 4 - 5 hours away, but thats still driveable.

Question on programming. The meet is about 11 weeks away. Assuming that the last week will be no training.
Im running a 10 week program now (4 day Sheiko Universal) and Im 4 weeks in (I ran one week twice due to being sick). Its broken into 2 blocks, 6 week training and a 4 week competition block. So I could:
A) Start over and run the program until the meet.
B) Finish and then run the 4 week comp block again
C) Find a new program to do instead

Ideas?

Like I said before, I plan on cruising until August 1st. Then probably kicking up test to 600mg adding in deca at about 400mg and either doing dbol or superdrol.

Double up on the training block not the comp block. Comp block will require Deload time after completed so it wouldn't be wise to go right back into it. The training block is more so to prep your body into the comp so even if you skip the first week of the training block when you repeat it to line up with your meet that would be no big deal

I agree with doing the training block twice. Since the training block is longer I'd skip whatever number of the beginning weeks you need to make it fit when you run it the second time. Like start at week three or whatever. Then comp block, then do the meet.

Thanks fellas.
Follow up, should I recalculate my 1RM or stick with the numbers Ive started with? So far there has only been one week Ive trained at 90%, so I was thinking the same numbers should be ok.

Ya after 6 weeks you aren't going to making huge leaps in a 1rm unless you are an absolute beginner to the gym which you definitely are not so stick with what you got

So I'm volunteering as a spotter at a national qualifying powerlifting event (reccomend doing such yourself as I am just sponging good quality info from these guys) anyways one of the guys I'm spotting with gets talking about gear. Apparently everyone is running heavy heavy 8 week short ester cycles and 3 week pct so that it minimizes time between cycle and possible detection during drug test, anyone with a WILKs of 450+ gets tested so a lot of the guys at the event were getting tested. Also I'm interested in more gear a lot of the big lifters even in the raw catagory say they train days with bench shirts, wraps and some even use briefs and deadlift suits single ply. Another thing someone benched 606 in a bench shirt, well apparently if you get out of your groove the shirt will rocket the bar forward, this happened and I'm thankful I've been working shrugs cause even with the two side spotters that was a hella quick 600lb shrug to make sure it didn't land on his head:p

Im becoming more of a minimalist when it comes to gear*, but Id love to see what their programs look like.

And for every event I look at I make sure its not tested. But at my age I have no ideals of anything national. Ive decided im just gonna compete in submasters and try to best my best...with tons of PEDs running through me.

*lately ive been training with nothing but chalk and belt (and compression cuffs due to pain). No shoes, knee sleeves, or anything else. Im going to push myself to the limit like this and add in the extra gear during the last weeks since I know theyll add lbs to my maxes.

I like the 8 week heavy cycle concept. If I was ever in a spot where AAS use was legal this might be something I would try leading into a meet. Using a bench shirt training while competing raw makes no sense to me unless you are training around an injury. The guys who use a shirt in competition train raw for half the meet training cycle but I'm not sure why anyone would do the reverse.

As you pointed out the groove is so much different shirted I'm not sure where the carryover is other than a little bit of overload on the triceps locking out the lift in a shirt.

I have a favor to ask from seasoned PLers. I need some alternatives for a few movements.
Floor press
Reverse deadlifts with bands
Good mornings

Just now saw this. You could buy a slingshot in place of the floor press or maybe Spoto press or board press.

Reverse band deadlift I don't know. A block pull except it isn't full range of motion. Chains? Buy some bands?

Reverse hypers maybe for good morning? Why no good mornings?

I just don't have anywhere at my gym to do the reverse band DL. I don't mind the floor press. Although a slingshot would be nice to have. I just don't like good mornings. I can do them and at a decent weight. That was the one thing that put pressure on my lower back I didn't like though.

No full squat cage?

You could go to the hardware store and get two lengths of chain. It's pretty easy to attach it on collars. Would be about like reverse bands.

Definitely no full squat cage. That squat rack you seem use is the ONLY thing we have for squats. Dumb as fuck.

Doesn't the reverse band lighten the load and wouldn't the chains add weight?
