Meso Powerlifting Corner

How do you all deal with your little aches and pains? Ibuprofen, ice, heat, stretches, other?

My right shoulder is aching a little today. It's usually shoulders and elbows for me and my job has me up and down on a concrete floor a lot, which doesn't help it any.

For the most part I just deal with it. Sometimes excedrin helps me. I cant do ibuprofin because of a stomach condition though.

I'm deadlifting tonight!! Nothing better than a late night DL session when the gyms empty. What music do you guys listen to when you're getting amped up for a PR ?? I personally almost deafen myself with hatebreed :D

this song has helped me set many PRs

@ROB581211 you dont need the chuck taylor "70's". they are basically the same shoe as the base chucks, just a few different features. i just bought a pair of all white leather joints from a sports outlet for $29.99. if you have a Champs Sports outlet, Tj Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, Gabriel Brothers id check there first.

i only use Ibuprofen when absolutely necessary. I've done enough damage to my liver over the years. ice and heat rotation, along with a good stretching/myofascial program has worked wonders for me. ill spend the extra 20-30 mins getting stretched out and warmed up if it means a less likelihood of injury

This thread is moving fast. I need to catch up a little:

Equipment: Mostly none - no sleeves, no wraps, no belt, but I use chalk and on rare occasion I use straps

Shoes: New balance with the minimus sole - inexpensive light shoe, with a flat thin sole - use them for squats, deads, and bench

Aches and pains: Mostly deal with it - whether that means train, train light, or take time off and I treat it with rest, foam roll, ice, heat and stretching where applicable.

Did I get everything? haha

These are what y'all are getting right?
The Sabo dealift shoes that @RodgerThat has are only $85-90. If you are gonna spend that much on chucks, you might want to get the sabos

What do You guys do on progression? It says to add 5 lbs on upper lifts and 10 for lower for the 531. What if you miss reps on the previous cycle. Do you still add or do you wait until you can hit all the reps?

What reps you missing? Like volume reps or ?

I'd stay. Are you doing boring but big? Max entered is something you can hit? You may have started at too high %.

Its funny because ever since I started the assistance movements don't even matter to me. All I can think about before my workout is hitting those numbers.

as far as gear goes, I'm kind of partial to everything EliteFTS. Got there 6.5mm belt, a pair of 60mm wrist wraps for squats and deadlifts occasionally. Then a pair of 80mm wrist wraps for any pushing movement. Their singlet. I don't have any knee wraps or sleeves. Don't plan on it. Have a pair of romaleos and a couple pairs of chucks I use to lift in. And a pair of long socks in case I forget to wair a pair that day. Didn't have any the other day and of course bloody shins. I also have some ammonia caps in my bag I haven't used. Of course blocks of chalk

How often should you test your 1rm? I might have underestimated my deadlift max. I put down 405 and did the 85% of that on the 5+ and it wasn't too bad. I try to get the form down as best I can but its hard when you can't see yourself.
