Meso Powerlifting Corner

So really only benefitual if your already flexible to begin with?

Or if you work your flexibility enough to do them properly. The hamstrings are fully contracted once you get to parallel or slightly below anyway so no real benefit there. The main benefit I see is that you get stronger through a wider range of motion but that too isn't really needed so much unless it's a specific interest of yours. Most sports don't require strength in that ROM though.

Maybe I just like doing them and winking at people when they stare at me;) I seriously feel a stronger contraction/engagement of my hamstrings with these not sure how much it carries over but it sure makes my regular squats feel light right after, and more explosive power on the way up can't be a bad thing.

Its builds them hips going that low. There are some definite aesthetic benefits from A2G

Good job! What were your individual lifts?
475 squat, 385 bench, 585 deadlift.

I wasn't prepared for how little warmup I'd get. So I lowered my openers considerably to compensate, and was too conservative on my third in squat and deadlift.

I know without a doubt I could have squatted 505, and deadlift 605. That would have tied me with my good friend who had the overall.

Damn good lifts for the 220 when you actually weigh 220 too! not a bad thing to be more conservative then not makes it more likely to go 9/9.
Yea, I didn't walk away feeling bad about any of it. The guy who beat me missed his last pull big-time. That let me close the gap between us by 40 lbs by pulling what I knew I could do without a doubt, 585. If I would have went higher and happened to miss I would have only got him by ten lbs in deads.

After I pulled it I was wishing there was a 4th attempt lol. U just never know how it's gonna feel when ur making those 50-60 lb jumps once u get that close to max effort.

Did my meet yesterday. Had a bad day for myself I fel incredibly strong but they misplaced my second bench but still called the correct weight so I went to go push it and it was actually loaded 10kh heavier then I wanted my 3rd attempt to be. I felt it on the lift off felt way too heavy but figured I was being a bitch, but nope misplaced slammed down and pretty sure I have a cracked rib now. Took a token deadlift and left pissed off might have gotten 3rd I really don't know left right after my token deadlift.

I was fighting for 2nd after the 2nd attempts of bench started and my token deadlift was the heaviest first attempt deadlift. Anyways that's my meet update.

I won't be competing again for 2+ years for powerlifting again, I've made my own program that better suits my lifestyle still all barbell stuff but not powerlifting specific.

I'll be living in a camp for the next two months so I'll be fairly inactive on all forms of the web. If you want any advice or help or to shoot the shit anyone can PM me I'll still be alive I just won't be on the board openly posting cause I won't have the time or anything relivent to update as I won't have any weights for the next two months so it'll be all calistetic and cardio for me for training until I'm outa the sticks.

Stay healthy boys, lift large and live large. Guys better all have made sweet gains by the time I check in two months from now

The powerlifting section is looking really legit. Lots of new members coming in or making the switch, good job @Perrin Aybara

Thanks, Jay. Been mostly lurking lately because of life stuff, but I'm seeing it, too. I'm proud of our growing powerlifting community. I'm seeing lots of great discussions.
