Meso Powerlifting Corner

Considering most of us here run set programs with set reps/sets/weights for each training session, what do you do on days youre just not feeling it?

Ive had some major problems sleeping and had a few days I havent been able to hit my numbers due to lack of energy, etc. Do you just chalk it up as a loss? Do more reps at lower weight? Come back and make it up? Take out your frustrations on a cheap hooker who has a special on donkey punches?

Sometimes Ill try to press through and it seems like a mistake because to hit my spreadsheet numbers I'll use bad form and end up with injuries that fuck up future days too.

I just press through unless once I get through a work set or two that I can tell that the rest of my sets are going to be grindy and poor quality. Then I just stop there and move on. It doesn't happen often, but it's better just to let it go. I had to do it on bench a few weeks ago, got 3 sets of 6x3 and could tell the rest would be garbage, so I just moved on to squats and they were good to go. The next bench session I was back to normal. Sometimes your body lies to you though and you may feel bad, but the strength is there. Just have to find out.

I'm not sure where you're at but hit up Amazon bro.I always take a pre w/o. Never tried mr Hyde but really like pre JYM. Just got in some c4 50x and it feels weak I'll probably have to tinker with dose.
Have been thinking about getting something to monitor bp.

I've actually never tried a preworkout. I used to drink a cup of coffee beforehand, but I stopped consuming any caffeine months ago due to blood pressure.

Come to find out I was getting crazy readings because all the blood pressure cuffs I was using were too small for my arm. I got a monitor off eBay a few weeks ago with an extra large cuff and the highest I've seen my blood pressure was 134/84 and it's usually 120's over 70's.

Make sure you get an appropriate sized cuff for your arm, seriously makes a huge difference.

This happened today 3 times to me. BP was off the chart at an appt and I kept telling them the cuff was hurting my arm...bad. Finally a semi intelligent nurse said my arm was too big and got the manual one and I was fine.

I haven't lifted without a pre w/o for at least 4 years. Well I will taper off here n there but typically clean out some n switch brands. 2 scoops of c4 with 3 no3 pills mixed in = destroy iron.

I was using my girl's blood pressure monitor and I'd regularly get readings in the 160's and higher before I was even on this cycle. I suspect it was completely normal back then if it's only slightly elevated now.

I bought a monitor on eBay that was under $50.

I'm kind of a minimalist with this stuff, I guess. Not much gym gear, just wear old, worn out clothes to the gym, very few supplements, stick to the basic exercises, etc.

I dig it man. It adds up for sure. I lift at home in my shop so no gym fees. Have a rack and about 800lbs that I've owned for awhile and got at a killer price.

Not making much money makes it easy to be a minimalist anyway. If I had the money I'd probably have all the toys, too.

I'd love a home setup to save time and money on going to the gym. All I've got towards it so far is a decent bench and a little over 300lbs in plates. Picked it up cheap from a recent divorcee.

Awesome thread! I'm a first year beginner to power lifting. My goal is to hit a 1500 total before I'm 40. I have 10 yrs to do it. It seems reasonable thus far and may even be able to do more if my body will hold up to it :)

Plenty of time if you want it bad enough. I'm looking to hit 1450+ next month with 1500 right around the corner. Not sure beyond that, but as much as I can while I can. I started powerlifting when I was 30, too. Almost 32 now.

I like a lot of stuff I've been reading out of Bryan Mann recently and was wondering if anyone in here is familiar with his work and could recommend any other reading? I have to travel over the holidays and am going to have a lot of downtime.

@RodgerThat where did you get your SBD knee wraps? The only place I found that has them were $90.00 for the pair. Is that about what you paid?

I got my SBD knee wraps for 45 bucks Canadian but I got them at the commonwealth games and through my regular buying outlet who just so happened to be a sponsor there so she hooked me up as I've got a good rep with her and toss a lot of business there way too for my buddies and such. It's easier in Canada to get deals like that I think, also easier to get partial sponsors.

But yes SBD is generally expensive but 100% worth it if you want top notch gear.

On another note, what do you guys do when you have a personal issue that's draining you out, do you still hit the gym? Go for a Deload week? Like to hear as I'm trying to grind through as per usual but I'm running on minimal sleep now and my mind is aloof when I'm lifting, I make the lifts but at the same time not with the intensity that I had just last week
