Meso Powerlifting Corner

I believe doing hammer curls a couple times a week helps my elbows and forearms, too. Has to be something to it for us all to notice it.
Hammer curls are about the only direct bicep work I do. Thinking about it, I seem to subconsciously add them in when my elbow starts acting up (old BJJ armbar injury).

There has to be something about them directly strengthening the bicep tendon or just the brachioradialis being strong enough in proportion with the tricep, maybe? Just the whole balance between agonist/antagonist muscles.

I'm the same during meet training

4 sets of bb curls a week 12x 65, 85 10x105 if the weight is moving well I'll do a final set at 115 or 125 if not will just repeat 105. No chin-ups for me but I do enough dead hang pull ups for my biceps to get some stimulation.

I'm fully convinced my bicep tendon tear was due to stupidity on a massive weight cut.
I can relate to that injury. The worst hamstring injury I have sustained happened during a cut. I was coming in for weighins heavier than planned, and had to cut an extra 4 pounds. I made weight, but during warm ups i popped my ham. Grade 2, and the sob bled like hell. I had massive bruising for 6 weeks.

Saw this on the ol Instagram today and I'm a fan of it. View attachment 33390
I love this pic. I'm the only powerlifter in my gym, and I am usually left alone, and looked at like an animal at the zoo. Last week while deadlifting(the gym was packed)my nose began to bleed on my 3rd rep. I kept going and blood was running down my face, dripping onto my shirt and floor. By the 5th rep it was a nice steady stream.I finished my set, and when I turned to go for a cleanup rag i realized everyone in the gym had stopped and was staring. I just took my belt off, and grabbed a rag. I hear one of the high school kids tell his buddy "what the f*** was that".

So, like a moron I left my chains at the gym about a week ago. The gym employees haven't seen them, they weren't turned in to lost and found, so some jerk nabbed them. :mad:Huge bummer. :(:(
The thing is I'm one of 2 guys who use chains at the gym. The other guy is my lifting buddy. So the chain-napper would have to be incredibly stupid to come in and use them. Especially if I'm there.

The good news is my wife gave me the okay to get make some new ones. Friggin' expensive to do though. I'm going to weigh the new set
when I get to the gym today. I made even better (heavier) ones.

I think I'd be on a stakeout. I get pissed if I forget wrist wraps at the gym.
Reminds me, i do need to invest in some chains or bands really soon. I keep saying im going to.

Where did you buy the chains from to make them?

also, i had a pair of the camo slingshot gangsta wrist wraps that i left at the gym months ago and have been on the look out for them ever since. haven't come across them on anyone's wrist.

I thought about it, but figured I'd let it go. If they're stupid enough to steal them, they're stupid enough to come in and use them. Karma will get them.

You can get proloc collars to hang chains, or use 1/16" x 1 foot to loop around the bar. Then, take 2x 5ft lengths of 3/8" to be lead chains. These will be what you attach the heavy chains to.
Next, get several lengths of the thickest chain you can (hardware store won't have thicker than 3/8" sadly) and these you attach at various heights depending on the lift

Jesus. I feel your frustration. Chains are not cheap. I wonder what water headed window licker could have been dumb enough to take them. It's not exactly something that is easy to hide if you want to try and come in to use them for themselves. F***ING thieves! I was fortunate enough to live a few blocks from a foundry, and was able to get all of mine dirt cheap. For those who are looking to purchase chain, it's a good idea to check with local farmers, or heavy equipment operators. Many times they will have an assortment of chains laying around, and many are happy to get rid of them for next to nothing. Even if they are fairly well rusted, it's nothing a sand blaster couldn't handle. They will look like new after a couple minutes work.
