Meso Powerlifting Corner

@Perrin Aybara Everything is going well, thanks. Just working through some old injuries, which is why I'm always preaching about staying injury free, haha. Other than that, life has me pretty busy right now. Going to try and catch up on some training logs here, see how you and a few other guys are coming along. Beast mode I'm sure.

And since I brought injuries and such, let me expound a piece of recovery and wellness gold - INVERSION TABLE! If you have back problems of any kind, I suggest purchasing one of these to try out. It has been working wonders with my lower back.

Good to hear. I've been dealing with some recurring knee pain. I'm about to experiment with some peps and see how it does.

Lets say 14-15 on set 1 and by set 4 I'm only getting 8-9. Muscle endurance in regards to strength has always been an issue for me.

What kind of frequency you working with on bench/chest?

So my meet is 19 days away from today and I'll be on a cut for at least that long if not longer. Debating not pushing true 1rm I know what I can get for myself and it's beyond what I need to put myself on the stand in this competition (some of the names I was expecting to see didn't get it due to how quick spots filled I'm guessing). So to avoid injury I'm thinking about going for 5% less then true maxes or do you guys think that there is equal amount of chance for injury when pushing such heavy weight so might as well go all the way?

I wouldn't purposely attempt weights less than I'm capable of handling. Your opener should be a lift you could hit for a pretty easy triple. If it goes good with good bar speed, add about 30-40lbs for squat and deads and maybe 20-25lbs for bench to get close to or slightly over your estimated 1RM for a slight PR maybe. Based on form breakdown and bar speed, your third attempt will be balls to the wall or another somewhat conservative jump.

Even with cutting you wouldn't be conservative or worried about injury? I'm going to eat maintanence for 4 days straight up until the meet and surplus the day of the meet but otherwise I'm hoping I'll be about 181 so down 9 pounds by meet day. If I were to use my current 1rm as a guide:
Squat- opener 405, 435, 455+
deadlift- opener 495, 525, 545+
Bench- opener 285, 305, 315+
I've hit all these previously at 186lb BW except the deadlift 545 but I could have pulled it. I was also not on while I did these and would have halo and test suspension for the meet day.

I can comfortable do doubles with all the openers any day of the week but I'd need to work up to those for a solid triple, do you think that would be too aggressive for the openers on a cut then?

Yes, I wouldn't hold back even when cutting. It's going to affect your performance for sure but you should still lift what you can and not purposely limit yourself. The cutting is going to do the limiting for you so why limit yourself further?

If those are solid doubles but questionable triples I would reduce your openers slightly. The reasoning for this is you don't want to kill yourself and use up your energy on openers then have nothing left for 2nd and 3rd attempts. So under shooting your opener to leave more gas for 2nd or 3rd attempts is what I would do

Thanks Doc I'll open with 385 squat 475 deadlift and 275 bench those are all solid triples. Very much looking forward to the hype of halo too lol

Take the halo during your warmups so it's kicking in during your actual attempts. I did 10-20mg I think 3x during warmups for each lift

So wait.... 10-20mg 3x for each lift 0.0 or 3x total for the day? My plan was to pop 20mg right after weigh ins (2hours before first lift) then 10mg during squat warm up 10mg during bench warm up and 20mg during deadlift warm up. Also taking the test suspension 100mg in my car approximately 10mins before weigh ins so hopefully it's kicked in for the squat and holds on until deadlift is done. Sound decent or do you think I'm being light on the compounds?

I forget if I did 10 or 20mg but when I dosed the halo I did it right when I began my squat warmups. Then I dosed again right when I started bench warmups and dosed again for deadlift warmups. No need for the dose right after weigh ins IMO. You know how long it takes tne to kick in for you so just time it's I it begins to start around your squat attempts so maybe an 45min-1hr give or take before you start squatting

I don't have experience with halo (SOOO want to give it a run!) but TNE kicks in for me around 1 hour. Depending on the length of the meet, you may want to have another syringe loaded up to take after squats so you have another big wave of test by the time deadlifting begins. The hard part is timing it right. Is it TNE or suspension?

It's test suspension and kicks in for me about an hour as well and lasts around 2ish hours of a solid sensation. The issue is this is a locked doors meet once competitors are in and weighed there is no leaving the competition building so no way I can pin in the building. I'll have to hope that 100mg holds out for a bit longer then 75mg did for me. I've got lots of halo so I am gonna use it to its full potential during the meet for sure and very excited to use it.

Ive used Halo a few times (more than I should have probably). It takes about 45 minutes to fully kick in for me. Maybe about 2 - 2.5 hours before it starts losing its immediate effects.
Of course I havent competed yet, so I dont know the best way to take it to maximize it for all your lifts.
I dont know what dosage you plan on using, ive gone as low as 10 and had decent results, and as high as 40 once. So I figure 10 - 15 broken up in to 3 iterations should work theoretically

Was thinking of 40-50mg total for the day, I want my rawr after the deadlift to be fuelled by halo so much that it scares little children and women

You can do 50. Just be careful. Halo will spike your BP. Ive found when I used it to go heavy on DL or squats I can get light-headed.

I wish you had more time before the meet to do some trials with it and see how it works for you.

But I think Docs plan sounds good as far as timing.
