Meso Powerlifting Corner

Haven't made it around here in a while. Lots of good shit posted since.I last checked. Finishing up some dbol and test is kicking in good so I've been literally either at work, at the gym, eating, or asleep. Should have my first 400 lb bench in the next few weeks. Finally got a 405 front squat the other day. Not a powerlift but I've always been fond of them and they don't effect my deadlift session as much when they're within a day or two of each other. Oh, and you guys are really selling me on trying some tne sometime in the future. Sounds great for PR attempts

Thanks! Just ordered them. 3cc with 25g took forever my girlfriends hand kept cramping up lolol. We see how she does with 4cc in a 23g.
We must be lucky men, my girl pins me as well. Most of my buddies can't even openly talk about their shit around their ladies. My girl is better than any RN at wielding a syringe at this point

405 front squat is bad ass! Nice work!

What's your deadlift and back squat maxes?
Haven't done a true max in probably six months, but my best back squat is 475, nothing but a belt. Deadlift I've been pulling 535 at the end of a fairly high volume session. If I warmed up and.got straight to it I could prob pull another 25 lbs give or take I think. My biggest goal this year is to pull 600.

We're pretty close on stats. I pulled my first 600 in comp this year. I couldn't even begin to front squat anything near 405 though, lol. You're a beast. Due to a recurring knee problem I doubt I can back squat much more than that right now on a good day. You compete?

Haven't competed. Gotten really close a few times, but just never commit. You're knee problem is probably the equivalent to my back problem. Usually flares up and sets me back for a few months at least once a year. I was probably at my best comp shape about 30 lbs ago. I was just under 200 and not that much weaker. My last two cycles have packed alot more weight and size on, and I'm definitely stronger but my ratios of body weight to lifts just aren't as good. I've always split my time between powerlifts, very basic oly lifts (front squats, clean and press) , and body building movements. I like to think I'm not just big and strong but fairly athletic besides my cardio being shit since I got over 200 lbs bodyweight

Pretty much, squat has always been my worst lift, I guess it's just a body mechanics thing because it's not for lack of trying. Add in the knee thing and I get major setbacks that I can't afford. Deadlift has always come easy.

I've only got two meets under my belt. I was 236lbs at the one this year, just under 1500lbs total. I've been cutting since, currently about 224lbs. I wasn't happy with being as heavy as I was. I've done cardio all throughout though and stayed in pretty good shape considering.

I'm right there with you man. Im sitting at 223 or heavier right now and it's the biggest I've ever been.

Bro SO lucky.. I can barely wipe my own ass so pinning back there is next to impossible lolol. Hulk problems yanno?

Well talk about frustrating.....As many of you know, I had strained my pec several weeks ago. (about 2 weeks into my first "assisted" cycle) Since that time, I have been taking it fairly easy without moving any heavy weight. Focusing on overall work capacity, I have been able to rehab my chest, and add some mass in general. I have been aware that my lifts would suffer while doing so, but I was not prepared for the actual degree of performance loss which I experienced tonight. I have always preached about the rapid degradation of multiple physiological pathways when training for extended periods of time in a manner nonspecific to the chosen sport. Most of us in the iron game have experienced this in some form or another; due to injury, illness, extended blocks of hypertrophy, work, life in general, etc. Tonight as I entered back into my primary/initial block of training, I was faced with a very rude awakening....realizing all my competition lifts have taken a hit of no less than 10%. I expected this of my press, but I was quite surprised that my squat and deadlift had as well. I know that my numbers will rapidly return, but it is a real hit psychologically. To add insult to injury, one of the usual gym members walking by made the statement, "Training light tonight?" I knew he was saying it sarcastically, trying to be funny since he still considered it heavy, but knew my usual numbers. I wanted to turn around and say, "No f***ing sh**. It should be, but isn't." Anyways, thanks for listening everyone.

We've all been there brother (some more than others). Injuries are a killer. Not just to the body, but to the mind. After all the hard work we put in the steps backwards hurt. But you have the knowledge and determination, youll get it all back, and more. Just gotts realize its not a roadblock, just a bump in the road.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Jay. It's great to have members like you around here. We train for a sport with many risks involved, and the injuries are bound to happen. Not a matter of if, but when. This getting older shit is for the birds. Lol.

Its funny you say that. Something Ive realized lately is at first the hardest thing about switching to PL was working on form and losing my ego. The second for me was that I was a classic overtrainer. So recovery days used to drive me crazy. Now Im getting older and I cant wait for recovery days. I love training, but my body doesnt bounce back like it used to.

Just as you and i know, form is of the utmost importance in the style of lifting we do. I'm not trying to take away from the importance of proper form in lower classification lifters, but the novice lifter is able to progress with a less than mastered form, with less risk of injury. The higher the classification level, the more risk involved with a break down of form. I hope newer members/novice lifters can take the advice from experienced lifters such as yourself. You mentioned ego.... One of the most difficult things I had faced as a novice was taking advice from more experienced lifters. Leaving my ego at the door and actually apply the advice I had been given was quite a challenge. This led to constant over training and multiple injuries. I hate to admit it, but I still fight with ego from time to time, and have to put myself in check.
