Question about weight and entry forms...

When Im filling it out and picking my weight class, what happens if I weigh in over or under when I go in?

Im still trying to put on weight and im pretty sure ill be above 248 by meet time, but I dont want to be disqualified form the get go.

*The entry form doesnt say how many per class, just that theres only x amount of lifters in the competition.

I would not be too concerned about this issue Jay. Since this will be a meet that doesn't require a qualifying total from a prior sanctioned event, it is unlikely that it will lock you in to a specific weight class. However, since this meet has a specific number cap on lifters, and I am not comfortably familiar with the federation, I would suggest an email or phone call to the meet director. He/she will be happy to assist in answering this question. Best of luck to you Jay.

You will be fine. If you don't make weight they will move you up to the next class. Many will not let you go down a class and you just compete in the higher class if you weigh in under.

I actually took @Strength and Power's advice and talked to the meet director earlier. He said to mark down what I thought, but you can move up or down one weight class. So it shouldnt be an issue.

The meet director also said he'd hold a spot for me since my entry form was coming from far away. So its semi-official. My first meet will be in exactly 2 months. Guess I need to get my singlet

Pictures to prove when you get that beautiful spandex lady pleaser!

Congrats man. I figured it wouldn't be an issue. At the state/regional level, most directors are very accommodating to its members, especially new ones. Let the good times role brother.

@RodgerThat is absolutely correct. Correct sizing has more benefit other than just showing off the lady pleaser. If the sizing is off it can cause excess material at the hip crease when in the bottom position of the squat. Although good judges are able to recognize this and still give an accurate call, it is better not to leave it to chance. After all, good judges can be hard to come by at times. As for the singlet, I tend to suggest andersonpowerlifting. His company is top notch, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable.

I second the andersonpowerlifting reccomendation they have everything you need for powerlifting and usually the best prices. I would use them more but they are in the states and I get luxury tax at the boarder for lifting equipment sometimes so I use innerstrengthproducts which is the Canadian go to. Only downside to a tight singlet is if you ha e a tendency to raise your ass off the bench during your press as a looser singlet sometimes can get you away with a little lift but that's minor compared to the importance of the crease for the squat

A luxury tax? Well that's some BS. Now you have me curious about the other site. I will check it out to see what they have. This is also true about the bench. When sitting as a side judge, I have actually caught a few lifters using a loose singlet to their advantage. Using an incredible arch, and allowing the butt to come off the bench while the excess material was still in contact with the bench.

Funny y'all said that, because I just happened to spend a decent amount of money on Anderson buying a few things before I saw your posts. Just so happens the singlet sizing was pretty broad, so i fit right in the middle of a 2XL.

I got a 2XL Adidas singlet. If you want to go really crazy on it you can get a custom one here.

Yeah, I saw that site earlier. I was really tempted (and still might go back later), but ended up getting a SBD singlet in 2XL. Mostly because it said it was federation approved.

Would it be in bad taste to get this one and everytime its my turn to lift come out to this theme music?

It would be epic, in my opinion. Even more so if you went outside after each lift and waited until they called your name again and reentered the building to theme music with an entourage leading the way.

Edit: maybe have a limo outside to sit in or a storage closet at the meet in a pinch.

Second edit: and you absolutely need a grizzled old man like in Rocky to put in your mouthpiece and put your belt and wraps on.
