'Ol lady lifting log

I'm at 138-140ish - and I compete in strongman in the 140.4 and under class at the moment. I wouldn't mind getting bigger if it was muscle - but my actual GOAL for this cycle is strength gains and stay at 140. My "cut" is over and I'm moving back to maintenance macros. No idea what's going to happen with adding anavar so if I start losing weight I'll add calories.

Last week on Wed before I left for Houston I got in some deadlifts and clean and jerks. Don't remember my numbers but I did get a single of 115, and 120 with the C&J. After returning Saturday I did Sunday strongman training. Worked up to 110 log and 115 axle clean and press. Still can only get 50 lbs on the circus dumbbell. :( Worked on "yoke squats" (which is one of the dumber events I've ever seen) for a couple reps with 300 lbs. Did 175 atlas stones and tried the 210 again but with the heat my tacky was too loose and I couldn't hang on. I'm using Elite tacky and my have to switch brands--stuff was terrible yesterday. Today I did squats at 185, bench at 110, pullups and chin ups for 3.2.1 reps, and a couple sets of barbell curls.

Bench and deads today. Worked up to 245 with deadlifts. Goal was 5 reps - only got 3. Pulled another single then dropped weight to 225 for a set of 5. Bench went REALLY well. Finally getting some progress there. Got 115x4 for 3 sets. Goal was 5 but bar speed really tanked on rep 4 so I called it. Dropped to 105 for a couple sets of 5. That was all I had time for this morning. I had lots of interruptions. I'll try to get my quick pullup/chinup combination in between jobs. Maybe some barbell curls as well.

Those are big numbers on your dl. Do you do a traditional dl? Today I started my deads with defecits then went to sumo and passed my pr. Hopefully I will have some of my gains crossover when I switch back to traditional.

Sunday strongman: Worked up to a 120 axle clean and press (5 lb PR)
Went outside for some 135/per hand farmers carries to 95 lbs sandbag carry for 50 ft. Only got 2 in before the rain started coming down and we had to take the equipment inside. Switched over to practice for the yoke squat. We're doing this with safety pins in a squat rack and an axle bar since we don't have a yoke to work with. Basically you START in the BOTTOM of a squat and press up. My weight at the comp will be 300 lbs!!! (Mind you my best regular squat is 205). I can only get reps 2 at a time but I managed 4 sets. My "neck meat" hurts like hell today. Feels like there should be a bruise there but there isn't. Then did axle deadlifts. Worked up to 245 and did about 5 singles and then backed off to 205 and did 4 reps. Goal was 5 but I was toast by that point.

Monday workout: I was supposed to do back squats today but the back of my neck is so freaking tender from those yoke squats yesterday. I worked up to 135x5 but I was in so much pain that I called it and moved to bench. Got up to 115x5x3 which is awesome for me! I was stoked. Worked on OHP next and got up to 70 lbs and did 3 sets of 5. Then it hit me--DUH, if I can't back squat I can front squat! I am not good at front squatting at all. I've never really worked on it much. I started real light and got up to 135 for a double.

Tuesday was deadlift. Didn't feel so good. Fatigue from Sunday hit me a day later I think. Just did sets of 225 as my prescribed 245 could not be done with good form. Tried to do clean and jerks but left shoulder was acting up and I could not press. Bailed on those and did barbell rows instead. Finished with my normal 3/2/1 of pullups/chin ups.

Wednesday was back to squat and did well. Was gonna try 195 but it just didn't feel right. Went with 190x5 but did 3 sets instead of my normal top 2 sets. Was very challenging but felt good. I'll try 195 on Friday hopefully. Moved to bench and it was awesome. Did 120x5, 120x4, 120x4. Final rep on the last set was a real grinder but I'm really stoked at the numbers. I don't think I've hit those numbers in about a year - if at all...I'll have to check my old logs. Finished off with my normal 3/2/1 of pullups/chin ups, and threw in some barbell curls with the bar for a few sets of 10 and tossed in some dumbbell hammer curls after I put my shoes away behind the dumbbell rack for fun.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. It's been pretty hectic. Both of my boys have started up football and my strongman season is over because of it. I'm NOT going to miss one of their games for my stuff. So I have my eyes set on a powerlifting meet in late December. Training has been about the same. High numbers from last week are
squats 185x5x3
bench 120x5x2
deads 250x5
Still learning some lessons. For instance had a terrible time deadlifting this morning. I did extensive farmers carries Sunday in training which made for incredibly sore hands this morning. I usually squat on Mondays - changed it up this time - and realized that was a bad idea. Grip was terrible. I only managed singles at 245. Made note of it in my log and won't try that again.

I second what OGH said, its good to have you back.
Looking forward to more updates on your training!!!

Those are still some impressive deadlift numbers for a 140lb female . Very impressive . I checked my Oregon state records for 148lb womens and your not that far off .

Nice! I'm close to my numbers in OK as well. Actually PR'd my squat this morning with a little left in the tank. I haven't pressed my squat in a while, been just hitting solid numbers week after week. I got 215 for 2 singles today. Was only going to do one, but forgot to film it, so didn't count and had to do it again. LOLZ.

Apa-Wpa : 148 lb. RAW (drug free) 33-39 yrs old womans

sqt-215 Susan Price bench-149 Susan Price deadlift-298
Susan Price 661-total

I dont think these are official state record numbers per se , but the last PL meet's records . I think the official state records are a lil higher . But this gives you a idea of a mininum to shoot for ....

PS - Im going back to Alaska next month and will compete for the 165 PL state record in the 165lb class in December. Yes I will be losing about 35lbs to do this .

Seems like a lot to lose! Why not compete in the higher weight class? I could go down to 132 here, but I'd me miserable in doing so. I've started a bulk to try and fill out the 148 weight class then promptly start cutting in Jan back down to 140 for strongman in May. I feel like I wouldn't "look" like a lifter at 132 - I'd be too skinny and hate my life for lack of carbs. Good luck on whichever class you choose tho! Alaska in December tho....rough! I couldn't do it! Hell doubt I could do Oregon! I need to be much closer to the equator.

The 181 class is way stronger . I couldnt match the over 500 dead . Plus the doc wants me lighter , said way Im too heavy , muscle or not . Im only 5'5" w/ small bones so 165 is really what I should weigh . Goodbye 18" arms ...:(

Highlights from training the last couple of weeks: Been getting a lot of rep PRs lately. Been eating a bit more food since I'm in off season so that is probably what's helping. Only gained about 2 lbs so far.

Last wk: squat highlight was 205x3 (rep pr), and 205x2
bench 120x5x2
dl (bad week - hands were very sore from farmers walks on Sunday) 225x5, 245x1

This wk - missed strongman training on Sunday due to life shit:
Squat 195x5 (rep pr)
195x4 (RPE 9.5 on the fourth rep so racked - didn't want to risk a fail)
165x6
Bench: 115x5
120x5
125x3
Keg press - added 5 lbs to my keg, so it's up to 80lbs now. I did a few reps here and there - still getting used to the new weight.
Deadlift - 245x5
250x5x2 (rep pr and I did it twice!)
Pull ups - 4, 3, 3
OHP worked up to 75x5x2

Body weight 141.8
