Perrin Aybara's Journey to an Elite Powerlifting Total

I know wraps helped but I didn’t realize that much more than sleeves. I know there is a right and wrong way to wrap. Where did you go to learn?

I just read online and watched YouTube videos. Best to preroll them very tightly. Then starting a couple inches below the knee and wrapping outwards (away from your body on each side) cover your knee and a couple inches above (usually takes me four revolutions around the knee) and then start making X's over your kneecap until you run out of wrap and then just pull it under and through. You want to have equal revolutions on each side and be as tight as possible. Like you shouldn't even be able to tolerate having them on even a minute after your set. A good pair should get you 50+ pounds like this.

Wraps add a pretty strong effect similar to the body's own stretch reflex. This is why some (most?) consider wrapped lifts to be "geared" lifts (begin holy war here).

Sleeves on the other hand, mainly serve to keep the knees of old folks like me from getting cold.

Sleeves do help keep my shitty old knees stable (and warm) so that I can squat or deadlift with little to no pain due to the kneecap being kept in place (my right kneecap pretty much just floats around). I have gotten decent results with them vs trying to squat or dead without.

I may try wraps as well so might not need those real long ones.

I went to the gym Thursday and Friday, just didn't log. Had to rearrange my schedule a bit for work. Going out of state for three days tomorrow and did tomorrow's day today rather than trying to find a gym out of town.

223lbs

Beltless speed squats with bands 370lbs for 10x2 looped the bands an extra time for more tension than usual

Sumo block pull 495x2, 585x2, 635x2, 675x2 PR

Beltless 5 count paused squats 300x3, 300x3, 300x3, 335x3, 335x3

Strong work man.

225lbs

Overhead press 185x2, 205x2, 225x2 PR, 195x2, 195x2, 195x2, 195x2, 195x5

Front squat 295x3, 315x3, 335x1, 315x2 Didn't feel heavy, just couldn't keep from dropping the bar at 315+. Probably gonna drop these for something else because the not being able to hold the bar up is keeping any progression from happening.

Long paused bench 245lbs for 5x5 still no pain, next week trying 275lbs

Face pulls 5x15

Chin ups 3x12

Adductors and abductors with bands 3x20

Maybe I’m wrong but I read somewhere that adductor and abductor work with heavy weights and be bad for your back bc they don’t actually work the right muscle
If your using the machines. Now your using bands so it might be different and I might have been mistaken. Have you ever heard this? I’ll try to find the article and post it here.

Besides hamstring curls I don't use anything that forces me into an unnatural range of motion. There's really no other options at my gym for that, but generally I stay off machines.

Is there a good substitute for lying hamstring curls? All my gym has, mostly, is free weights. I've been using the cage, low pully and just do one leg at a time just bending at the knee.

Sorry to drop a random question in your thread PA. Good work with the ohp btw!

Thanks and it's all good. I've seen a hammer strength hamstring curl machine on YouTube that looked pretty cool. I guess you could drag a bench to the cables and lie down and do them, too.
