Need some opinions.

For the last month I've been doing a longer job for another company that contracted my company. They were really impressed by me and told me if I wanted a job they would get me on their company. Just got off the phone with their regional manager with the details. All the people I've been working with spoke highly of me, so it's really just a matter of accepting or not.

I'd make about $10k a year more starting out than I do now plus full benefits, vacation, 401k, etc. Currently don't get any benefits at my job. I would be on the road more as it's a regional route, so I'd spend 2-3 days a week on the road. Hotels and meals paid for like my current job. There also wouldn't really be any heavy lifting like my current job as it would be dealing with mostly businesses. Just using a dolly up and down ramps for the most part. 40 hour work weeks, Monday through Friday. I'd have to move a couple hours to their location, which they would pay for the move.

My girlfriend doesn't like the idea of me being on the road more. She hates her current job though, so she could potentially find something better in the new area. It shouldn't really interfere with training much. I'm used to packing days worth of food at a time and finding gyms on the road. Would just have to do it more often. Being done every day by 3-4pm would make it fairly easy.

If they’re that hot on you, call that $10k $12-15k.

Sounds like a decent gig and if the move doesn’t bother you everything else sounds taken care of.

One thing I’ll say, we beat ourselves in the gym but there’s nothing like the wear and tear from decades of a physical job. The sooner you get the office gig the better for both the wallet and body.

My limited success is mostly from consistency and taking my opportunities when they come. Better to try and decide you don't like it imo

I asked about opportunities for advancement and it's based on performance. If that's true I'm confident in my ability to advance.

The wear and tear thing is another point about my current. I work for a moving company now. I drive, so I'm on the road some, but I'm also doing a lot of local work and that means heavy lifting up and down stairs in the blazing heat all day. I'll be 36 years old this year and between hard training and physical labor I know it's gonna take a toll that's gonna be more and more noticeable.

But yeah, this job would be a walk in the park compared to moving furniture. Like I said at most I'd moving stuff with dollies up and down ramps as it's commercial places they deal with. Spend 2-3 nights a week in a hotel paid for by the company, buy groceries on the company card and food prep in my hotel room, be off work by 3-4pm every day and find a gym wherever I'm at. Every weekend off.

As far as the move it's only two hours away. I'm currently in a state getting screwed by more and more taxes and this move would put me in the neighboring state with more favorable conditions.

Yeah, same with me. Lately I've been leaning towards staying with straight trucks as far as jobs, so worst case this job doesn't work out and I'd have more straight truck experience.

sounds like you made your mind up

Did my usual Sunday routine, but cut down to two sets of each exercise rather than three. Had a crazy busy week and I just have no energy left. Gotta get some shopping done and gonna try to relax a bit this evening.

Front squat 295x5, 305x5, 315x5, 325x5, 335x5

Beltless conventional deadlift 500lbs for 3x5 (can't believe how hard these are after not training conventional in forever)

Belt squats 8 35's for 5x20

Banded kettlebell swings 3x15
Superset with
Ab wheel 3x30

Chin ups 3x10
Superset with
Adductors and abductors with bands 3x20

210lbs

Speed bench 225lbs + black bands for 12x3

Box squat 370lbs for 3x5

Floor press 225x7, 250x7, 260x7, 275x7

Seal row 3x15
Superset with
Hamstring curls 3x15

Cable curls 3x15
Superset with
Cable push downs 3x15

Apparently got my accessories mixed up and did today's on Tuesday. Got a weird feeling right above my left elbow on the inner side of my arm. Feels like a vein rolling around when I'm doing pressing movements. Felt like I strained it a little doing front squats and squeezing the harness too hard.

Maybe get one of those arm bands?

Get that Class A bud. I like seeing you moving up for sure. More experience the better. Do you have air brakes on your DL currently? I forget. If so even better! Work towards that A and eventually your own truck. End goal work for yourself and when you want to. Hit me up again sometime lmk how it’s going. Good luck friend.

I've had my Class A for two years now, just ended up with this straight truck job (over 26,001lbs) because it suits my lifestyle better. Haven't really seen much else that's a Monday through Friday 40 hours a week driving gig.

Been looking at places where that job is and cost of living is too high there, so not gonna take that job. The cheapest one bedroom apartment is 2x what our mortgage is here for a two bedroom house with a garage. The extra pay of that job would get eaten up with living expenses and I'd be worse off than here.

But I've started the process of getting my HAZMAT endorsement. The place I gotta get fingerprinted is an hour away and I'll have to have a day off work to get down there. Looks like lots of opportunities with having that.

Ok my bad I think I do remember us talking about that. Definitely hazmat equals more pay! Go ahead and get tanker also. Those go hand and hand usually. Tanker is so easy to get. I passed mine the first time and studied while I waited to take the test lol.
