Perrin Aybara's Journey to an Elite Powerlifting Total

Very nice deadlift. Your really getting it in bro. I like how you use your own programming. I can see you have learned your body over the years and program accordingly.

Thank you. I draw from a lot of different programs I've tried over the years along with trial and error and reading books and articles.

I really would like to try out Westside at some point and see how I respond to it.

Sunday will mostly be a stretching and mobility day until the meet. Working on hip mobility has helped tremendously with getting into a good starting position for pulling sumo.
Also doing mobility work for arms/shoulders? That can help with bench and in a way make for stable pulls on your deadlifts. I been doing such things to keep my shoulders and arms "loose".

Personally I dont think a lifter is doing westside unless they are Training in Ohio w/ Louie and wearing Gear. Everything else is conjugate and you arent too far off now. I think most advanced programs gravitate towards some form of conjugate for sheer necessity to continue progress. Rep schemes may differ from program to program or block to block but guy cant just do S/B/D every workout or push pull legs for eternity and continue piling up big #'s.

A lot of programs follow a heavy/light/medium or max effort/speed/reps or volume/recovery/intensity or however you wanna describe it. That's what mine is drawn out over three weeks with rotating variations and accessories to target weak points. Definitely can see the similarities. I'd like to try an actual conjugate template at some point though to better understand it.

Comp squat 410x3, 440x3, 440x3, 440x5

Comp bench 285lbs for 8x4

Sumo block pull 585x1, 635x1

Belt squats 8 35's for 3x20

Not really feeling well. Made the mistake of eating some truck stop pizza Thursday and it really wrecked my stomach. Thought it was better, but it was back this morning. Was doing a warmup on squats with 370x3 and after my heart was thundering and missing beats for a minute or two after. Was kinda scary and then I was fine. Depth wasn't what I wanted on the 440x5 set. This wider stance takes a lot of warming up to get deep.

Had a big cup of coffee with 20mg of halo this morning pre workout and 800mg ibuprofen. Maybe that combined with being kinda sick and possibly dehydrated contributed to the weird heart rate thing.
I would think the Halo and caffeine was probably the culprit. Thursday was the truck stop pizza? Ive never had food poisioning longer than 2 maybe 2 1/2 days

How's bench feeling today?

Felt decent with the light weight today. Moved fast after the first rep. I got a little mental hang up recently about lowering the first rep from fear of injury. Today was much better than last week and should have the kinks worked back out in a session or two.

Crazy long day with work today. Started at 7:15am and just now getting done at midnight. Glad I clocked out and lifted earlier or it wouldn't have happened.
