Perrin Aybara's Journey to an Elite Powerlifting Total

View attachment 124509

Had a terrible day. Hurt my knee at work. A little break in some concrete only a couple inches that I didn't see and hit just right to fuck my knee up. Also feeling some lower back pain again. Weird because I don't feel anything doing deadlift, but twist a certain way or bending down to pick up plates I get a sharp pain in the lower right side of my back. Also still sick, got antibiotics last Friday and actually feeling a little better, but still feeling really run down in the gym. Even warmup sets had me out of breath.

Skipped good mornings because of the pain in my back. Probably shouldn't have done deadlift because of the knee thing. Don't learn apparently. Felt super heavy, but looking at the videos everything was fast. I guess just being sick and hurting all over made it harder in my mind. Working the next eight days in a row, so no resting.

Got an appointment later with a chiropractor that deals in sports medicine. Fingers crossed because my back feels pretty bad this morning.
Gotta be careful with antibiotics, might want to think about a de-load while on. I’ve heard a lot about and experienced my self weakening tendons on certain antibiotics.
Big fan of chiropractics, hope all goes well for you.

I finished up my antibiotics Friday. Probably should've taken it easy while I was sick, but of course I wasn't. I had brutal days at work Friday and Saturday and then gym straight from work Saturday. I could feel it then I wasn't 100%. Then going back for deadlift yesterday really set it off. I'm pissed because I know better.

But yeah, I've heard good things about this chiropractor. Been reading the qualifications of many from the area on their websites and this one has a master's degree in sports medicine. Didn't see this on any of the others in the area even if they said they dealt with that kind of thing.

@Perrin Aybara - what was the antibiotic ?

Augmentin. I've had it a few times. I'm just finishing a cut, had some lingering pains from my last meet prep last year, plus some brutal work conditions this week. I guess the combination got me. I feel old.

Thats Ok . Just stay away from all Fluoroquinolones (Cipro-Levaquin-Avelox) these are tendon-snappers , especially the Achilles heel . Goodluck ;)

So what’s the deal, strain? They recommend any mobility stuff?

Yeah, a lot of that anatomy stuff is over my head. He said it was a rotational thing because it's on one side and only hurts when I move certain ways. I worked today and it was mostly fine as long as I was mindful about how I moved when carrying heavy stuff. He has me doing this stretch a couple times a day and following up with him Friday evening. He seems to think I'm good to squat and deadlift after a week off. Whatever he did yesterday helped a lot.

That's good to hear bro,
Good thing it's just muscle.
A little bit of gear and some rest, you'll be right as rain in no time

Still running 2iu of HGH and the remainder of my MK 677 with more MK on the way. Got a fairly easy work week this week, too.

From yesterday. Had to go to the gym really early because I had a long day at work after. Tried out my new chain collars. The chains at my gym are too heavy (27lbs each) and too long. I'm going to buy my own soon. Weighed 206lbs yesterday, so MK 677 and creatine are definitely putting some water weight on.

Bro those delivery jobs are fucking killer. I couldn’t workout at all when I was doing food delivery.

From my phone and Fitbit for yesterday. Walked almost 15,000 steps, climbed 174 floors of stairs. Most of that carrying heavy boxes. Also drove about 550 miles.

That chiropractor said it's probably an overuse injury. I'm carrying heavy stuff all day, every day at work, and then going to lift heavy stuff in the gym right after. I'm gonna find something else soon job wise.

Wow that's brutal. How long have you been doing that job for?

Problem too is eventually a job like that will cause serious joint issues. Anything that constantly grinds down your body hardcore isn't worth it IMO.

I was working for a company a few years back and some of their warehouse workers had been at their jobs around 10ish years and their bodies were close to totalled. Some of them were in their early 30s too and they waddled like penguins and their joints were all fucked. You could tell by how some of them just waddled around they were in a lot of pain.

Yeah man, it’s no joke. I’d definitely be looking for something else...Try to get into hazmat if you can. I think we talked about that.

I was routinely doing 10-12k steps a day as well.

Interesting. If you don't mind my asking, why do you recommend getting into hazmat?

It'll be two years in a couple months. After I got my CDL there really weren't any jobs in my area where I'd be home and I got this job with a moving company. Very hard work, but I can still maintain my lifestyle of eating healthy and powerlifting. Besides being injured constantly anyway. I think I'm fairly resilient, but I'm 36 and it's getting harder and harder. Powerlifting and hard labor jobs just don't mix well. Definitely looking for something else soon.

I worked with some people that waddled like that. Needed knee surgery, but didn't want to get it. Worked with guys that wrecked their rotator cuffs reaching overhead all the time too. But then again people with desk jobs have problems too.

Yeah, I got my tanker and HAZMAT a few months ago. There's just literally nothing in this area for work. Girlfriend was wanting to finish out last year at her job, so now I'm looking pretty seriously at jobs in nearby states.

Like I said I don't mind working hard or being out in the weather. I'm just tired trying carry stuff like pianos up and down stairs or drag a gun safe out of a basement. The business moves we do are easy because it's all dollies and ramps. Need to find something more like that.
