Perrin Aybara's Journey to an Elite Powerlifting Total

Those house prices are awesome. Some places in TX (Killeen / Corpus Christi) where we were looking, have amazing prices for basically mansions. We got a great deal for here in NY, but it took a lot of negotiation.

The best thing about this area is how cheap houses are. Your middle of the road 2-3 bedroom houses are $25k-50k. You can find a fixer upper for under $10k and get a really nice place for $100k+.

Same here, Southern Illinois a completely different world than up north. We're more like rural Kentucky or Tennessee here.

That's insane. Our gas is $2.50-2.75 a gallon here right now and that's too much. Missouri was low $2s last time I was there. Cigarettes in Missouri are $5-6 a pack for name brands.

Here new starter homes are about 500k, nice used homes 750 to1M, New nice houses well over 1M, and fixer uppers are 200_350k

That's insane unless average wages are like $250k.

Getting into rentals is good here except property taxes are kinda high. I'm sure still much lower than high cost of living areas.

Jesus Christ, man. Why??

I read an article a long time ago that said something like no matter where you go they're not gonna let the average man have too much extra money. Where our housing costs are cheaper here they rape us on healthcare costs and places like Canada where healthcare doesn't cost as much they rape them on housing costs. Don't know how true that is, but makes sense. If they don't get you one way they'll get you another way.

Those areas are definitely cheaper, same with Waco and Victoria, or Brownsville. Problem is the jobs aren’t paying as good as the larger cities and are harder to find.

Did light leg press in place of front squat, skipped good mornings. Bench felt a little heavy, but not too bad. Back feeling a little better and may squat and deadlift light last week. Saw the chiropractor again yesterday and he said it's better. Also started working with him on shoulder mobility to hopefully improve low bar.

Whats funny about Illinois and Missouri on sin taxes is the Illinoisans go to Missouri to get cigarettes and the Missourians come to Illinois to get legal marijuana. Crazy aint it?

It's crazy a state border makes that much difference. Supposedly they can't keep up with the demand on recreational weed.

You should see the lines outside the dispensaries. If you were an illegal weed dealer you could clean house keeping people from waiting in line five hours for legal weed.
Here in Canada when pot was made legal there were so many people "scared" that people were going to be everywhere constantly high, getting into wrecks and it'd be the end of the world.

The first few months there definitely was an increase of use and a lot of dispensaries were sold out with a waiting list. After a few months it died down and people who weren't users to begin with still didnt / aren't using, and most people who always were, refuse to buy from dispensaries because of prices or quality and now just grow themselves which is allowed for personal use.

This is a bit random but I know multiple people who have always been potheads and some of the medical / dispensary cannabis they obtained legally they swear something's been added to it and refuse to ever smoke it again.

What, like the DMV?! It always cracks me up when people talk about government run healthcare, uhm no thanks
That’s another thing, if you want to see a something go to absolute hell. Allow the government to regulate it.
I agree and wish there was some form of privatized healthcare in Canada. Even just for bloodwork I wish I could go somewhere locally and just pay to have it done but it's not as easy here.

My wife used to work for an otolaryngologist / ENT surgeon and because of the way OHIP is here in Ontario, you can only be sent for bloodwork so many times a year, unless you have serious issues, before you're red flagged and it'll be refused. From what I know not much can be done other than going to a naturopath and paying serious $$$ if you want bloods often

Nope normal yearly income before tax is at best is 60k. You definitely need 2 incomes or 1 high income to afford a home here. Even apartment condos are close to 400k

This is the same around Toronto with predicted pricing for even condos to surpass $1600 / sqft within the next few years. The market has gone crazy and the pricing in even the surrounding areas a few hours away is being hugely affected. A lot of people who have been in or around Toronto forever are now moving to other areas in the province to get three to four times the size of house and having it paid out entirely just from how much value their place rose. Toronto is being flooded with people and the lifers who have been there forever are mostly moved and just commute into To. It's just not worth living there anymore.

A few years ago (3-4ish) I remember looking at houses about an hour away from Toronto, ONE YEAR before the prices started increasing, and in the worst run down areas a 900sqft house was around 80-90k. The same house exactly one year later was 160k and now the same area they're well over 250-300k.

If anyone here has driven through Toronto in the last ten years knows how insane it can be but now it's seriously ten times worse than it's ever been. People and leaving and not coming back.

I don't know anyone personally that's bought recreational weed yet. The few people I know that smoke weed still go to whatever dealer they went to before rather than stand in line four hours at a dispensary. I don't smoke myself whether it's legal or illegal.

They legalized those video gambling machines here a few years back and gambling is rampant now. Every gas station and bar has a few and people get up at 6am to go gamble. It's crazy.

Yea, it's pretty interesting for them to flat out refuse to ever smoke it again. Very odd. Especially being some of these guys are heavy drug users in general so it just makes you think.

It's sad to see the effect drug addiction and gambling has on people. What's worse is seeing those same people become slaves to it and their entire lives revolve around it. Not only do they typically never have the actual disposable income to support it but they're essentially broke for the rest of their lives. Really sucks and I hate seeing people get into it and never get out but especially when they start at a really young age.
