Perrin Aybara's Journey to an Elite Powerlifting Total

Finished week 3 strong.

Bench 355lbs for 9 sets of 3
Slingshot bench 410x3 (slingshot PR)

All sets moved well. Early sets were probably RPE 5-6 and last set of 355x3 was maybe RPE 8. Half tempted to push another week, but that's asking for trouble. Deload starts tomorrow. Talked to my pre covid workout partner and gonna get a day pass at the Golds Gym he signed up for next weekend to max out.

Not bad. Gyms opening in your area soon?

Dang...that sucks. Hope you find a new one near where you plan on moving to.

Heheh wish you and your buddies buy it lol.

That would be cool and we jokingly talked about it. They didn't have a ton of members to begin with and now the longer it's closed while other gyms are open that number will continue to go down. Be hard to even break even on costs with a few dozen members.

Yeah that's one of the hard truths about owning a gym. I had toyed with the idea of taking a 401k loan out to buy one but all the costs of getting it off the ground are crazy.

Why not at least see if you can buy any of the equipment for your own use such as plates and bars?

So will deload this week and sleep in as much as possible every day this week. Continue to smash as many calories as possible. Will attempt maxes next Sunday.

I'm thinking I'll hit 390x1, then 415x1 should be in the bag for a small PR, then go from there for 425-440x1 depending on how 415lbs feels.

The following week gonna try an AMRAP with 350lbs on bench and shoot for 8+. Then the week after that gonna start the Average to Savage program by Greg Nuckols. There's a 5x a week version that's just two lifts plus an accessory each day and I think that'll be manageable with my limited time. I've got the spreadsheet populated with reduced training maxes on lower body.

If they give up on selling the place whole and part out the equipment I definitely will pick some things up.

In that case then maybe you and your buddies can pool money to buy as much of the equipment as practical and get a good deal on it.

It doesn't hurt to ask the owner about that option if he's interested.

I pulled an old 401k completely under the CARES act, have to pay taxes on it over 3 years but no penalty.

I might do that with an old one that has relatively small balance and willing to take the tax hit (already took a big tax hit on the quick sale of my house in CT in order for me to transfer to NH). Will ask the bank that's holding the 401k how to go about closing it out under the CARES act if possible.

Did deload bench yesterday

205x4x3

Work has been pretty easy this week and made it to bed before 8am this morning. Didn't realize this Sunday was Father's Day and my old workout partner can't make it, so going to have to figure something else out gym wise. I guess worse case I can just max here with my girlfriend spotting, I just didn't want to use my bent barbell.

Got these for tomorrow off Amazon. Over at my mom's house having her cook me some Fettuccine Alfredo to carb up. Been completely off caffeine for over a month now and will have a cup of coffee in the morning along with 30mg of halo after breakfast.

I'm thinking brief cardio warmup, a few minutes of dynamic stretching while warming up bench. Then start hitting singles up to around 390x1, then 415-420x1, then hopefully more depending on how it feels.
