Rob's log part 2 (gonna take a crack at PLing)

Well I might have gone a little overboard. But I hit a few PRs and got one hell of a damn pump.

Flat bench.
205 x 5 2 second pause
275 x 3 2 second pause
315 x 3 2 second pause
365 x 2 2 second pause
385 x 1 2 second pause. New PR for a comp lift.
405 x 1 touch and go. Cleanest ever
225 x 17 pause reps

Incline
185 x 10
225 x 10
275 x 8
315 x 3 PR

Incline DB
50 x 12
50 x 12
50 x 12
50 x 12

DB fly and rope super set
4 sets
40per hand x 10 / 55 x 12

I knew I was getting stronger but holy shit I didn't think it would be that much stronger. My endurance was crazy with strength to match. Hope I didn't do too much but it felt to good to stop. The muscle serrations in my chest are getting a little crazy. Had one hell of a night.

Idk man but I'll take it. The biggest thing that was holding me back in the beginning was not getting the look anymore. Well apparently it's the exact opposite

I think I was scaring some of the newbies at the gym tonight it was kinda awesome

Awesome lifts, Rob. I can't wait to hit four plates on bench.

It was touch and go but clean. My goal is to be able to to do that at a meet on my second attempt. And try for 425 as my third.

If you've just started doing paused and doing 385 already you'll get there quick. Most meets aren't going to be two second pauses either, just long enough that you demonstrate control over the bar, likely less than a second, although it'll feel like more.

Well my 2 seconds probably isn't 2 second. I go 1 1 2 lift in my head. So closer to a second. I couldn't believe the control I had over the 405. Everytime in past doing it it was such a shock coming off the rack. Tonight the entire motion was under control. I was missing a lifting partner tonight or I would have gotten a video. Maybe later in the week

Big lift killer when you unrack and just get totally shocked by how heavy it is. The confidence will help with next time for sure.

I'd avoid doing these unplanned maxes between blocks though. Like doc was saying about the deload between blocks, it'll throw things off. I know you're feeling good now and it's hard to resist, but think about a couple months from now hitting 425+ paused.

I know. It'll be lighter work for the rest of the week. Then back on schedule come Monday next week.

Rob, your enthusiasm, drive and obvious love for the iron is very energizing and highly motivating. This is a GREAT log Rob!!!!! Very happy to follow along.

It keeps me sane and happy. Honestly glad I found this place. I was starting to get burnt out after 8ish years of the same ole shit. Since I've been here I've broken so many plateaus I thought I never would have. Hell I'm even considering meets now. I'm just glad I can return the favor to everyone and give a little motivation and what little knowledge I have.

Well here they are. I ended up going with larges because I was worried about getting them over my calves. The tight fit for large was 15-16 inches and my calves are 16.5. I probably could have done a medium but it would have been a crazy struggle to get them on and would have not been able to keep them on. Could they have been a little tighter sure but I would be spending 5-10 mins between every set to get them on and off. It took me every bit of 3 mins to get these on where I liked them. But at least I'll be able to keep them on for the duration of my squat session.

Yes more SBD people! It's tricky to find the between maximum pop and able to get them on that's why I own 3 pairs now:p:D

This place is awesome. Keeping my log and following some logs here is great for motivation and having others to see stuff in my training that I miss has been helping me already. I like to think my log at least provides a little something different with my approach and views on training, too.

I've taken lots of your advice and it's been very beneficial for me. All you powerlifters have been super helpful. I kinda just jumped in the deep and went for it. So to see all the other types of training that everyone does is awesome.

Those look badass and maybe SBD should make an X-large for those who got meaty legs.

Good to hear. I'm about 90% sure I'm going to run Sheiko after the meet, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out for you. I'm hoping @jaymaximus starts a Westside log, too. Curious what that program looks like.
