Rob's log part 2 (gonna take a crack at PLing)

Ok guys I need your input so I can start getting my ducks in a row. My last program day is Monday April 4th. I will not be able to do my mock meet until Sunday April 10th. Will I need to do any light WOs inbetween? If so what would you recommend? Also when do I need to have my fake weigh in lmao?

So you have other obligations that prevent a full mock meet until Sunday, but you're still able to do shorter sessions during that last week, correct?

If it was me I'd try to extend things out somehow to keep your peak for the mock meet intact. Either repeat those last days again during that week or repeat some upcoming sessions that would push your days forward later on, making those two sessions fall later in the week to where things would play out more according to schedule.

I could just be overthinking it, too, but that's what I would do just so I wouldn't throw things off. I've only successfully peaked once, but it made a huge difference.

@Perrin Aybara Yes I don't want to attempt a mock meet after work during the week. I won't be mentally there if I do that.

I'm thinking about taking the last day squat and bench and adding the deadlift session from Saturday and doing all that on Wednesday or Thursday then just recover for the 2-3 days after.

Should I weigh in Saturday night or first thing Sunday?

Look for feds that have meets near you and look at their rulebook. Use that for reference on how to do your meet.

That's what I did for my first one. This last one I knew what to expect, so I was ready without any special preparation n

I guess it depends on what fed you'll likely end up competing in. Mine is the night before at like 7pm or you can weigh in the morning of at like 8am.

The one Im competing in does the same thing.

As far as a mock meet, you might as well just do it before since youll be testing yourself at your "normal" weight. (Unless you plan on competing somewhere at a set weight and youre trying to make it here).

When I compete it'll be 198. I've kept my weight down this whole 16 weeks so I can compete at that weight class

You should be good. As far as Ive been told (seeing as my next comp will be my 1st), most weigh in the night before who have been cutting to make weight. That way they have the whole night / morning to rehydrate and eat.

Doesn't really matter for guys like us. We'll be bulking right up to the meet and weighing in at whatever anyway. I like weighing in the night before so I don't have to be there so early on meet day.

Thats my plan right now. Plus the meet is about 2.5 hours from where ill be, I can go the night before and scope out the gym so I wont be seeing it the first time the morning of the meet.

Exactly what I do. Mine have been about 2.5 hours away, too. I drive up and get a room the day before, weigh in and then eat and relax.

My first meet I weighed around 216 to compete at 220 and this last one 236 for 242. Both times I just weighed in fully dressed since it didn't matter. There were plenty of people getting naked, spitting in cups, doing cardio and coming back, etc.

Would like to look and see if there is anything around October-November time frame. If not early next year

Would be pretty cool to find one somewhere in the middle we could both hit up. I don't know what my schedule is going to look like. I'm getting married in January. I'd really like to run a shorter blast soon and have time to cut up a little before the honeymoon since we're going somewhere with a beach. Ideally this recomp I'm doing now will get me where I want and eliminate the need for the cut later, but we'll see.

I'm itching to compete again. I told myself I'd wait till next year, but I want that 1500+.

It would be awesome to find one like that. I need to look and see what's around. I've been a little busy the past month or so and haven't done much research on anything

I've been looking a bit for one close enough for me. There's a push/pull only that's fairly close to me, I'm not big on the idea of no squat unless I actually couldn't squat though.
