If you need a friend to find out where an IP is homed you might want to reconsider that you know *anything* about networking or technology.

Everything I have heard you say on the subject is gibberish. "Router" is also not a magic word that protects your location FYI.

He is behind a Tor/VPN, yes, I need a friend for that.

Router doesn't protect your location I know that, and most people's routers are unprotected with "admin" and "password" as the user/pass.... Somebody accessed mine and changed settings, it's clearly stated in the router log lol..

If the thing has been online in the default state for 24 hours or more it has been used by more people than a whore on nickle-night.

If you found it via IP I would feel like you had tapped into the Deep Magic since what you would get from it's location record is my ISP.

He saw a DOS attack alert from a VPN IP in his router log. At some point someone also did change his router settings. given that it was sitting there for god-knows how long exposed with defaults I am certain that more than just one someone changed lots of shit.

This plus what I can only assume is some sort of mental issue = "CBS hacked me!"

Why would he? I don't know CBS at all, really. We literally never correspond. However, constantly I see him call out sources/scammers, to better our community and essentially provide us a moderately safer environment.

How could I have an issue with that? CBS hasn't ever done anything like that to me, or anyone (from what I know) that hasn't stirred up some serious shit. So, just don't stir up shit.

*By the way, I don't know anything about hacking or any of that bullshit. It's pretty irrelevant to my life. Let's just say I don't make enemies with those who have that ability.
