The Old "bomb them into submission" routine.. started in the late 1960s in Vietnam and continued until today. Is extremely effective without putting soldiers lives at risk.
I've been spending several weeks in Germany with the family on vacation and I have to admit that the Germans here give Americans a huge amount of respect. It's almost like they feel submissive to Americans and you can see it in their eyes and their voice. This did not even occur to me at first until several Germans told me this exact same thing, Germans are submissive to Americans. At first I was thinking this is ridiculous you guys are smart, Athletic and produce some of the world's most amazing engineering marvels. And yet you feel submissive to America? I asked them how they like Germany and they constantly say it's boring and they wish they lived in America. Every one of them. Extremely interesting from an American point of view. Most of these people are smarter than Americans and harder working than Americans. If they came to America they would absolutely slaughter our current workforce. That is a fact. Where was I going with this rant? Oh yeah bomb them into submission.

It’s usually this smug attitude that’s followed by something extremely fitting as far as karma goes. I love that once confronted with the truth (that it’s actually just greed, power grabbing & doing whatever it takes to benefit ones self) that Americans drop the altruistic freedom fighting Christian front they’ve been putting up to the rest of the world.

Maybe you'll be the one to administer "retribution", as you see fit of course. That is as soon as you drop the armchair act and muster the courage to lace up. My affairs are in order, and any beliefs I may/may not held in regards to a higher power have long retreated from my mind. We are all just meat, and the "forces of the universe" are the strong, the weak, electromagnetism, and gravitation...keep holding fast to the notion what goes around comes around, we've been using that one to tuck the children in for a long time.

Err, I don't know what you mean by extremely effective. It didn't work in Vietnam (the US lost), it didn't work in Afghanistan (the US is losing), it didn't work in Iraq (the US lost - Iran won), and it didn't work in Syria (the US is losing). It mostly just made the general population even more miserable.

W.r.t. submission, you must have met different Germans than the ones I knew when I lived there. Maybe the constant forced influx of rapefugies has changed their attitude, but I really doubt it.

I remember exactly where I was when we flipped the news coverage on that the first tower had been hit. As I stood in the classroom I never once thought to myself, "im gonna sign and go kill me some goat fuckin haji scum! 'Merica". Nah..I was just a kid and far too self centered at that point in my life to focus on much outside of which cheerleader I was gonna take a run at Friday night. American patriotism is alive and well, but much of what I encountered was simply small town boys and girls looking for a way out. Many running from something, say you maybe didnt make plans after high school or didn't have much opportunity to pursue higher education or even role models of what that may look like to know other alternatives are available to you. Maybe the promise of learning a trade, or adventure/travel etc. Maybe you ran with a bad crowd and fell into a bit of trouble, post 9/11 requirements are lowered to slot warm bodies. I would suspect many guys that could suddenly qualify for a felony waiver took a harder look, and I even be willing to bet that recruiter didnt even have to convince them boys that the Iraqi ppl needed to be liberated or that they should hate them bc the color of their skin or they didn't believe in Jesus. It's a job, and when backed in a corner you may be surprised how easy it is for some to point the business end of a GI issued weapon system at something, and just like that here comes the surge. If I ever were to find myself in that particular set of circumstances I don't believe I would particularly care who the President was, democrat or republican agendas....and I'd like to think that if I was a million miles from home with group of scared kids fresh out of gym class, I wouldn't be overly concerned with where anybody was from or the color or their skin or what their mommy and daddy did for a living. Id just hope I could find whatever lies inside me that allows somebody to keep putting one foot in front of the other and make damn sure my ass and the guy next to me on each side made it back to our bum-fuck towns with most of our bits and pieces. Purely speculative though, not speaking from experience...I just play a lot of video games and watch Fox news.

Its not only Germans. I noticed that most European countries have an inferiority complex towards Americans. they compare themselves to Americans all the time whereas Americans don’t know anything about Europe.
