What Flenser posted is interesting.
I still have not much faith in an article written by a psychiatrist.
The same one that would have no problem in prescribing crazy addictive drugs to a patient for most stupid "mental illness".
he come from a branch (psychiatry) that was electroshocking ppl until yesterday. Psychiatry since the day it has born, do not accept any deviation from "normal standard" and want to "cure" anything they land their eyes on.

I'm not saying they are completely useless but most of the time I have seen more harms then good coming from their practice.

Being a transgender is not cool. Being gay is not fucking cool. I would never want to be in any minority neither I would want my children to be in one.

Your example iron is stupid (about your child) because it's well known that young person don't have a well defined sexuality. It's common for young ppl to have homosexual experience but that doesn't mean they are homosexual. They are just exploring their sexuality.

Individuals seeking reassignment surgeries who ARE emotionally disturbed, even in the unlikely case there are only a few, are being seriously discriminated against and denied the help that might prevent them from making the worst decision of their lives.

With respect to psychiatrists, I recommend the book "The Myth Of Mental Illness" by Thomas Szaz. You and he agree on much, as do I.

The alarming suicide rates on a study done in sweden doesn't reflect in my opinion reality a lot. I think this because sweden has one of the highest rate of suicides in the whole europe continent if I don't remember wrong. I would love to see the rate of suicides in other country, especially few where the rate of suicides in "normal" population is average or low.

I do agree that there are sick ppl that should need help and not a change of sex, the problem is identifying those ppl and discerning between who is emotionally disturbed and who is certain of his/her choice.

It's a damn complicated matter for sure.

First off, before I begin most here now I am about racism, sexism, etc. So if youre just going to post fuck all transgenders they should die or something similar, please just dont post.

I just moved this week and my new work has a transgender "male". A male who identifies as female. First time ever dealing with this in real life, and its interesting. He wants to be called she, looks super feminine, etc etc.

As open minded as I am im having a hard time. And for those who know my job, you can tell why its different from other jobs.

So far ive just tried to avoid him/her, just seems easier. But I cant do that forever.

Anyone here dealt with transgender in real life?

*Not insulting intelligence but just to be sure everyone knows. Transexual are the dudes who took hormones and have titties. Some still have weiners, some dont.
Transgender are just people who have all the regular parts but are a different sex "inside"

Maybe Sweden depresses transgender individuals more than others.

Ten to fifteen years after surgical reassignment, the suicide rate of those who had undergone sex-reassignment surgery rose to twenty times that of comparable peers.

It's definitely a difficult issue to comprehend, one that I have personal experience with through a close friend. The hype in recent years, as well as certain laws, made the situation far worse, and the end result was all the more tragic because it could have been prevented.

One of my kid came to me one time and said i think im gay. I told them how i felt about it and i did not agree but i will love the regardless.
guess what they are happily married with kids now. There is a reason I write that way its done on purpose. But i doubt you could really understand what I do my friend. And no I am more Tea Party I support Rand and His fathers Idea's. But there are no ill feelings I understand the Tren. Im actually a very open minded person. I don't have any issues with gays or LGBT. I have friends that are. I am just more sick of the agendas behind it and social media to movies and books shoving it down are throats as well as it being used for political gain. Its fine to choose who you want to be but i feel that social media is brain washing young kids to be the cool it thing or pressure to be apart of some thing that they don't want to be. I've seen it with my own eyes how High school is now its very sad. or maybe Im am just getting old but I want no part of it and will do the best to keep it away from my kids.
