Welcome To Planet Mother Fucker

Steep dude, steep. Not all of it is wicked steep but where it is, it is! All in budget for lawn care and snow removal attachment is 4500. All I could think of is home depot or Lowe's lol. Appreciate the advice

By the end of month 3 I'm hoping to be pretty carved up but still thick af. Putting an emphasis on core as the month chugs along.

How wet are you guys? It doesnt stop raining up here man.
No problem bro- Yea rain earlier this week...Now just high winds and cold this week. Getting more rain this weekend tho.

Thanks, appreciate all the effort on your end (WP too). The gym is getting all I have to give, I know that. The program destroyed me today. It was awesome. The weight is getting heavy again and form isn't taking a hit : )
That's the idea big guy. Keep it up.

@mands @Wunderpus given that @ickyrica hangs around my posts too much I figured I’d ask this question here and gum up his thread.

How far along the spectrum to complete progressive overload are you pushing him? Curious is all.

I’ve seen a HUGE push to progressive overload at all costs lately in the training realm.

If this is confirmed I’ll be down this week. Cannot. Fucking. Wait.
I'm actually curious to read their answer. I'm certain it's a progressive overloading type program but to what extent I don't know. I'm like the village idiot when it comes to fitness programming.

I just like to see where things are trending.

Matt Jansen is pushing this all-out progressive overload method and whether by results or just by popularity it seems to be gaining steam.

I think the big push for these types of programs is the constant evolving regimen with a short term goals in mind. This can really keep the trainee interested, while improvements on their goals/strengths/speed/endurance can almost be seen weekly.

It's all about increasing the physical demand on the body. With those demands you can see quicker progress IMO. Not just looking in the mirror but having a program that you look at and assess. Wow, I had a hard time doing 3 sets of 12 on a certain exercise but in a couple weeks I'm doing 4 sets of 15 reps with same or more weight. It's a very motivating factor.

As far as Icky we are around the 10-15 rep range on most movements. When we drop lower in the spectrum we are obviously increasing weight some so that volume doesn't decrease.

We are begging to push him pretty good. I'm sure @ickyrica can attest to that. We are emphasizing on core and back. Then upper chest.

Normally I’d agree, but Jansen is training IFBB hopefuls and some Olympia competitors. I just have trouble, from a bodybuilding standpoint, seeing how building to one progressive overload oritented set per movement is maximizing hypertrophy and building stage physiques. There’s definitely a place for strength in the capacity to move weight for more reps. But every workout? Duno.

And I know you guys are crushing it with clients. I lurk in the Atlas thread. Keep it up guys.

Damn @ickyrica That's some really solid progress for just a couple months. You start off with Atlas at a lighter body weight than you are now, correct?

@Mac11wildcat if Icky doesn't mind, and you don't either, could you post a link or some of Jansens training looks like. Specifically the progressive overload stuff. I dated and lifted with a bikini girl who was coached by him, but that obviously doesn't give me any sort of idea of what the mens BB training is like. He had her doing alot of stuff similar to Meadows type stuff. This was a few years ago now.

I’ll do my best. If you look hard enough I’m sure someone’s posted some of his training plans somewhere. I know guys like Bostin Lloyd collect them to use them as ammo to shit on people.

If you have Instagram just watch his daily training vids. But I’ll try and dig something up.

thanks man, been having a great stretch in the gym. Started around 245# iirc, sitting at 250 now. All my jeans are 36 waist and I have to tighten my belt to keep them up, that's a win!

We've done a number of progressive overload programs, we have a few clients using them currently. I personally like to do this:

Progressive overload for ~2-3 months

Switch over to a more intense high intensity high volume training for 2-3 months (this will in theory utilize the increased strength gains to produce more reps of higher weight than before).

Deload for 10 or so days

Reevaluate and adjust training based on goals/prior results...

If strength gains stall, we typically halt progressive overload (for those who are doing it), and immediately switch to the more "body building" style training. Your body can only get SO strong before it needs a break.

Icky would be a good candidate for progressive overload in the future, however he had a nice base of muscle to really chisel away and reveal... For the "smaller" or "fresher" clients, PO works great.

Also, Jansen's drug protocols are so fucking insane.... Keep that in mind... He's having pick of the litter in terms of genetics from his clients, then has them BLAST THE FUCK out of drugs... There's no denying it "works", but at what cost?

Spot on.

Finally, someone else sees what I see.

Thank god.

Go have a look at Michaela Aycock. That’s the cost.

Another way to do a more lengthy progressive overload program is to target certain groups... We have @NorthMich hitting his chest with high intensity for a few months, while training every other group with standard level of intensity/training... When he gets close to "overtraining" that group, we will switch to a different muscle group (presumably).

Or Dallas... Although he died from an arrhythmia, ANY quality human/coach would've forced Dallas to go to a cardiologist and have a defib put in... Dallas would still be alive today, had he done that. If one of our clients passed out on stage, was diagnosed with an arrhythmia, and refused further treatment... We would discontinue working with that client.

I understand the mindset, and why people buy in. Being an Olympia athlete is the crown jewel of competing. But he’s aged Michaela 10+ yrs in 3. Bonus; guess her age.

Dallas I have trouble pinning on Jansen. Dallas was so genuine and loving I don’t think he could see the voices in his ear weren’t necessarily concerned with his wellbeing but with his success to help their success. His autopsy was ALARMING.

What about AAS causes the face to age like that? I'd like to avoid it obviously.
