What R U Eating ? ~OGH wants to know.....

Meal tip: cut up your meat into bite sized chunks and then divide your meals up and store them in sandwich bags. When it is time to eat toss one of the bags in the microwave then pour the meal out on a plate or in a bowl and eat. No Tupperware! I learned this trick over the weekend when prepping meals for a fishing trip. I stored all of my meals in sandwich bags and just eat them cold. This week at work I continued to put them into sandwich bags then just throwing them into microwave. Works great and keeps food moist!

Awesome.. I hate Tupperware, fills up the dishwasher.. Thanks for the tip.. :)

Thanks for the tip OS - I just got thru baking up 12lbs of chicken breast and boiling 3 dozen eggs .Gonna bag some of it.

The keto-diet is going the same as yesterday , 8 (4/4)eggs in the morning , 8oz chicken/2-3 oz nuts for lunch and 8oz beef/salad for supper and a whey protein(2 scoops)/1bsp PB drink x3 inbetween meals . Thats 6 meals a day . 250-300gm protein /45 gms carbs/100-120+ gms fat . ~Ogh

That keto man.. I've only done it once, first 2 weeks were absolutely miserable.. No energy, headaches and flu like symptoms.. Not to mention the cravings!! I do ok with those though.. After all that agony I felt better than I had in years after two weeks..

Crazy thing is I lost as much weight with keto as I did with DNP, a pound a day.. Feel like I lost more muscle with keto than with DNP though..

Its hard and its not for everybody . I like Dave Palumbo's keto diet , it gives you enough food you dont seem to crave much . The last time I did it strict for 6 weeks / 1 carb-up day then switched to 2 carb-up days , both squat/bench press days , later 4 carb-up days (all work-out days) still keto on non-workout days....thats an old routine thats been around . ~Ogh

I may try that just to see what happens.. I did straight keto for 3 weeks and dropped 20lbs.. Ate carbs with 2 meals after 3 weeks then keto again the 4th week, didn't lose a pound that whole week..

Im gonna give it another run and Im helping out a neighbor who wants to cut-up , he's got a fairly stocky build and just needs some fat removal so Im game .

Dave Palumbo also recommends 20-30 minutes low impact cardio 1 hr after breakfast. A treadmill on 4 or 5 incline at med speed is what I use. Its all about the calories , my meal yesterday came right out at my maintance (2300cal) so now I need to fine tune . I usually lose the best weight at 1800 cal/day . ~Ogh

How much chicken is too much? I've been baking chicken (boneless skin-less, breast) In 10 lbs batches. I love chicken, on salads, with rice, all the time. Currently eating eggs for breakfast (6, 3 with yolks removed), later greek yogurt, 3-4 bananas, chicken with rice, beans, or vegtables, and usually chicken later. I stopped buying ice cream, because i'll eat a half gallon before bed if it's around. Anyway, i feel guilty eating chicken all the time because usually when i enjoy something, it turns out being bad for me.

I eat two pounds a day. 4/8 oz. meals. I hear you can become allergic if that is all you eat but it sounds like you have other protein sources as well. I think you'll be just fine brother.

Bag it up OGH. You will never go Tupperware again unless you have to.

Nice work on the diet by the way.

Thanks OGH. I won't feel so guilty anymore. I def should split it up more though. I'd estimate im eating about 2-3 lbs (usually 6 breasts) in two sittings. I know what to do, it's just a pain to split up everything into a bunch of smaller meals.

Remember ATodd - Your body only absorbs about 30gms of protein a meal , thus the reason for breaking it up into smaller meals . If you eat a lb of chicken a meal (200+ gms of protein) but only absorb 30 gms of protein then the rest is being passed off as waste or being stored as fat , neither is the desired . Thats 130gms of protein down the drain , literally . ~Ogh

Atodd,
This is Oregonstrong brother. The other Oregon diet nut..........I think OGH has me beat though:) That man is a book of diet knowledge.

Your doing great OS - your my protege there grasshopper , if I leave your in charge of the kitchen , lol.

As far as the knowledge part maybe Im just a really good Googler , lol . Although I am a cook and a english major , that helps . ~Ogh

OK- another breakfast down the hatch . I cut back from 8 eggs to 6 eggs , no sense in overeating protein , just like we discussed up above ^^^^ Plus Im a small guy , 5'5" - 170lbs with smaller bones (7" wrist/9" ankles) so I dont need to eat as much as you 6 footers . ~Ogh

4 whole eggs / 2 egg whites / 2oz ham = 213 cal / 54gms protein / 8gms fat / 7 gms carbs

Lost another lb / 170.4 lbs

I've always wondered what the absorption rate is exactly though? I start with 6 or so set meals but essentially am just grazing all day long right now based on how I feel and the intensity of my workload. When I'm on strict schedule I plan on every 2 hrs..but it's hard on the move

The latest science says the average male 185lbs absorbs around 30g protein every 2 hrs or so . I try to keep my meals at 30-50gms protein each, although I go overboard on steak & game . The last few days see me at 250-300 gms a day . Im going to taper that down to 200-250gms a day , max . ~Ogh

Thanks OGH, It would be my pleasure:)

No real changes in my diet still grinding out 6 whole food meals a day (whites, oats, chicken, steak, fish, broccoli, rice) and shakes pre and post workout with intra-nutrition as well. Carbs in first meal and around workout only. Goal is to bulk up with minimal fat gain. Lean mass gain. Supps are targeted to this approach as well.
