Hi guys,

Do any of you know if the following Whatman pvdf syringe filter needs pre wetting? If yes, then with what?
GD/X 25 mm Sterile Syringe Filter, PVDF filter, model number: 6900-2502

I think it was @Cakedup that mentioned hydrophobic pvdf filters need prewetting. But I can not find any info on about the above filter being hydorphobic or hydrophilic.

What temperature of finished wholly oils can you push through these filters? GE's website states the following for Sterilization: Autoclave at 121ºC (131ºC max) at 1 bar (15 psi) for 20 minutes. But nothing about operating temp.

Thanks in advance for your inputs!

I don't believe it's necessary. Have you googled it or sent your question to the lab supply company you ordered from?

As for filtering temp. I can't give you a specific degree but I've pushed 50ml of fina tren through a whatman syringe filter at room temp before. It took 900 years, but it'll filter it through.

I can say for sure these whatman GD/X 25 mm Sterile Syringe Filter, PVDF filters dont need any sort of prewetting.
I just finished filtering primo e and mast e; mig840/eo/mct/guac based. I did about 120ml with 1 filter and so much easier than millipore pvdf filters. I used 21g on the output side of the filter and there was a steady stream of oil flowing that lasted upto about 100ml and past that it was maybe 25% less output for the last 20ml.
it took around 7mins to filter 50ml; warm oils and thin oils help greatly with the throughput.
Whatmans are so much better than the millipores that breaking every 20mls.
The whole brewing experience gotten so much enjoyable with these filters and caulking gun
