Why there almost certainly is No God!!

The sword he spoke of was division and it’s quite evident that he was foretelling the things to come. That division between households would come as a result in Jewish families as they rejected himwhilemothers accepted him as their messiah as well as other homes and families where family members would come to him and those who didn’t would reject those who do come. It happens all the time between religions. Not just Christianity. Muslim families kill those who leave Islam and embrace another religion. Jewish families have held funerals for those who depart from the faith and embrace Christ as their messiah.

Not gonna lie - the teachings of Christ are quite exclusive. So were left with the choice of accepting what he said and believing his words or rejecting them.
Oh I understand he was referring to the division. He is not there to unite but to divide, for who doesnt believe in his word, shall not be accepted into heaven. I fail to see the love in this. The whole idea is, if you're not for me youre against me. These poor people were not convinced of a charismatic preaching jew so they have to suffer for this? That's a terrible ultimatum. The Jews dont even believe in a hell, so imagine the the reaction of someone coming along saying this. It's literally blackmail and hostility.
Wait until the Muslims begin taking over the US numerically, as they’re already doing. Have a look at Europe - that’s our future. And soon, when they’re in the majority and enforcing Sharia law, you’ll see just what Islamic discrimination against atheists, gays, Jews and Christians looks like.
You're evading and bringing up a problem I'd obviously be against as well.

You're claim does not negate or discredit the problem atheists are having.

It all goes back to the beginning (of the biblical account). I think if you’re really as great as God claims to be, he can pretty much do what he pleases. If you have kids, do you have rules or do you just let them do whatever they please and call all the shots? Did your parents call the shots and make rules? Doesn’t sound very loving  It all depends on what your definition of love is. Does you wife forsake the laws of marriage and sleep with whoever she wants, or does she follow the “rules” of marriage?

Please explain the problem atheists are having.

We’re talking about the same Jews who were waiting on their promised messiah and still are. They had a history of disobedience toward God and his laws from the get go, so to not be convinced of a charismatic preaching Jew is nonsense. They followed many false messiahs of their day, often times leading to their execution. Had they studied their scriptures, there wouldn’t have been confusion. Blackmail and hostility? Hardly. They got their messiah and killed him.

Again, mostly Christian's have been in this thread and in America I face disgreements with Christians much more then muslims, since I have few interactions with them and the politicians the represent the people are mostly Christian's.
This is why I brought up the whole point of Sharia coming to America. So what you called me evading your issues, I was responding to something else you had brought up. And yes, at this time, you probably are facing rejection or whatever you are experiencing from those who claim to be Christian, since “Christians” are the majority religion here still... at least by name only, not by practice.
About Christians being prosecuted..

I was responding to hurricane claiming some sort of American oppression against Christian's and thst they are a huge amount of people scared to come out as a Christian.
Eh, when it comes to America, anyone who is afraid to come forward as a Christian has no excuse. We have experienced little to no persecution for our faith. People think the “war on Xmas” or being laughed at for coming forth with their faith is persecution. They have no clue what persecution is.

You would have your children burn for eternity because they did not do what you said? These are not evil people. These are people that simply did not buy in the one of many Jewish preachers walking around claiming to be the messiah. I mean talk about immoral... you dont believe in me, well fine you will burn in hell. I find it rather strange Jesus puts forth this ultimatum, as if it was some desperate person trying to con people away from there faith.

For example, Muslims claim to have the final word of the Abrhamaic god. How do you feel about muslims telling you, you will go to hell for not following the Koran? The angel Gabrielle came and talked to the prophet Mohammed and said this was the final word. It makes more sense to me to follow Islam considering Mohammed is just reuttering what Jesus has said with the claim that a literal angel came and told him.

The article points out all of it.

We are unable to hold position in politics, parents would rather have there children marry someone if a differ religion then us, we are considered to be immoral.

I've commented about my person experiences to hurricane. I've had hate mail delivered to my house, I've been repeatedly told I'm going to hell by random people who find out I'm atheist, I've been told I'm untrustworthy. Simple things like using tinder has been very revealing. I've been matched just so the person can tell me I'm "sick" and will find out in the end when it's to late that I'll be in eternal damnation with the devil.

Seriously, I'd bet 1000$ that if you went around publicly displaying you're an atheist you'd find people to be increasingly passive aggressive towards you or be "talked" to..or rather informed you're going to hell.

I mean they claim to have studied the scripture too. They have arguments against yours as well. I'll be honest too, they seem to be more convincing to me. Theyve been fooled before and Jesus was not able to show his "miracles" to everyone. How unfair is it to damn a group of people to hell just because they dont believe 3rd 4th 5th etc hand counts of some story?

What if someone was running around claiming to be the second coming of christ ? I'm sure youd pay no mind to it and then you hear some Christians assassinated him. A new sect comes along calling themselves something else and claiming you guys killed the second coming. Would it be right for you to go to hell because you were unconvinced?

Now when I look at this reasonably, and if god created us in his image. It seems likely that its more understandable to not believe in any of these things. All of you claim to know the truth and none of you provide any actual evidence other then what the bible or a messiah says. It's all he said she said.

It’s the same theme throughout both old and new testaments - he is God, he created all. People chose to rebel against their creator and that’s the price they pay. If you cursed your parents every day of their lives, told them their existence is a joke and figuratively spit in their faces, would you expect an inheritance of any sort, or would you expect to have been disowned?

For example, Muslims claim to have the final word of the Abrhamaic god. How do you feel about muslims telling you, you will go to hell for not following the Koran? So you would have an easier time believing a guy who claims an angel told him almost the same thing as Jesus said, rather than what Jesus himself said? Interesting, because if someone who came along and said they were God and then 600 years later an angel comes along and tells some guy “hey, believe what Jesus said, minus the whole ‘God’ part” I’d have a real hard time believing the dude 600 years later, for the simple reason that if you’re an angel, you’re either going to reject 100% the claims of Jesus or you’re going to back it up 100%. There is no “Jesus was only partially right or partially wrong” because if he was not God as he claimed, then he’s a liar and a false prophet. The angel would have rejected him and his message completely. If he really was God, then the angel would have backed him up. An angel isn’t going to contradict God - that would be a fallen angel.

Much like parents wanting their kids to marry within the same race, it holds true with religion, politics and everything else. If you truly believe your religion, why would you want someone to come along and dissuade them away from it? Why would an atheist want to marry someone who is die hard in their religion anyway? Sounds like the makings for a lousy marriage. As for being unable to hold positions in politics, I have yet to see any commercials blasting someone for their atheism as a reason to not vote for them. In fact, I see a lack altogether mentioning the faith of people running for political positions.

Honestly, I’m sorry you’ve experienced these things. It’s complete and utter garbage and unbecoming of anyone who would call themselves a follower of Christ.

It’s funny that you mention the crusades since that was actually in opposition to what, 300 years of Muslims murdering and raping Christians? Again, the teachings of Christ don’t condone murder of anyone, so you would have to look at where the fault lies - in men or God? In the case of the crusades, I part ways with @hurricane because those were the orders of the pope, and Christians do not subscribe to or take orders from him. That was in the RCC, sorry Hurricane, just stating facts. In fact, a quick look through history in general shows the RCC being the only “sect” of Christianity who killed and again, those teachings did NOT come from Jesus, but from man.
No worries man. I'm not Catholic anyways. lol. I have no issues with differing opinions. But I won't entertain someone who disrespects my faith or tells me it's wrong.
You're very respectful bro. Regardless of whether we agree or disagree on every aspect of Christianity.
There's ways to discuss Religion with civility. And I'm fine with doing that.
But the second one side claims the others beliefs are invalid is when I need to remove myself. My heart and BP can't take it. lol.

No one will ever agree 100% on anything bro, whether Christian, catholic, satanist, atheist, Buddhist, etc. - that’s just human nature. Peace brother!

you guys catch the Joe Rogan podcast with William Von hippel. Fascinating discussion on human evolution and behavior. Just started reading his book, the social leap.
Our Evolution explains so many of our little quirky human behaviors.

Published in the journal of Human Evolution.
U.S. and Switzerland scientists have made an astonishing discovery. All humans alive today are the offspring of a common father and mother- who walked the planet 100,000-200,000 years ago, which by evolutionary standards is like yesterday.
Moreover the same is true for 9 out of every 10 animal species. Meaning nearly all of Earths creatures living today sprang into being recently from some seminal, Big Bang like event.
Mark Stoeckle at Rockefeller University and David Thaler at the University of Basel reached this conclusion after analyzing DNA bar codes of 5 million animals from 100,000 different species.
They concluded that 90% of all animal species alive today come from parents that began giving birth at roughly the same time, less than a quarter million years ago. This conclusion is very surprising Thaler said, and I fought against it as hard as I could.
Their study does line up with the Bible in 2 ways. It affirms that we and our fellow creatures arose from a recent and profound creation event, orchestrated by some unknown mechanism.
Secondly the DNA bar codes reveal that species are quantized. Creatures fall into very distinct, widely separated populations- what the Bible describes as "kinds).
This study doesn't disprove or prove God's existence.
It proves we are at the mercy of forces we do not see or understand. Michael Guillen, PH.D.

I would think, from a Christian perspective, it would have to line up with a profound destruction event - the flood.

Its interesting to see how different scientists interpret the same report.

Using some parts, and not others.

"Viruses, ice ages, successful new competitors, loss of prey -- all these may cause periods when the population of an animal drops sharply," he told AFP, commenting on the study.

"In these periods, it is easier for a genetic innovation to sweep the population and contribute to the emergence of a new species."

But the last true mass extinction event was 65.5 million years ago when a likely asteroid strike wiped out land-bound dinosaurs and half of all species on Earth. This means a population "bottleneck" is only a partial explanation at best.

"The simplest interpretation is that life is always evolving," said Stoeckle.

"It is more likely that -- at all times in evolution -- the animals alive at that point arose relatively recently."

In this view, a species only lasts a certain amount of time before it either evolves into something new or goes extinct.

And yet -- another unexpected finding from the study -- species have very clear genetic boundaries, and there's nothing much in between.
